Kashus Culpepper Releases Another Heartfelt Single, “Pour Me Out”
Another solid release.
Today, up-and-comer Kashus Culpepper released a new song called "Pour Me Out," which is just his fourth release on a major label (Big Loud, home of Morgan Wallen, Ernest, Hardy) so far, following favorites like his debut single "After Me?" and "Out Of My Mind."
The Alabama native made a splash earlier this year when he released "After Me?," which is currently playing on Americana radio. The 26-year-old Navy veteran has already opened for people like Charles Wesley Godwin (what other kind of endorsement could you need?), and he has an incredibly unique, gritty and powerful voice that stops you in your tracks no matter what he's singing.
"Pour Me Out" once again shows off his incredible vocals, while the lyrics remain simple and striking... a perfect combination for a beautiful country song.

Culpepper says "Pour Me Out" is one of his favorite songs he's ever written, pulling inspiration from greats like Ray Charles and Willie Nelson:
"'Pour Me Out' is one of my favorite songs I've ever written. It reflects a side of my musical influences that reminds me of songs I love from heroes of mine like Ray Charles and Willie Nelson."
Culpepper recorded "Pour Me Out" in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, and it was produced by frequent collaborator Brian Elmquist (The Lone Bellow) and backed by his road-tested band.
The song was written by Culpepper alongside Ben Burgess (if his name sounds familiar, it's because he co-wrote Morgan Wallen's mega hit "Whiskey Glasses," among many others) and Diego Urias. Lyrically, it finds Culpepper coming to terms with the fact that he's not this girls "only drink in town," and he'd rather just be poured out if she isn't going to drink the whole thing, so to speak:
"I know I'm not the only drink in town
I can't just be another round
If you don't wanna drink me baby
Don't sip me baby
Just pour me out"
It's a really neat concept, and of all the country music songs that revolve around drinking, or use drinking as a metaphor (which is probably 99%, or something close to that, right?), this feels fresh and different from a lyrical perspective, which is really difficult to do from that perspective, actually.
In terms of the production, it feels simple and classic, and adds to his small yet powerful catalog that will hopefully be extended by a full-length debut album or something like that next year.

In addition to opening for Charles Wesley Godwin on the road some this year, Culpepper recently wrapped up his headlining Howlin' Under The Harvest Moon Tour across the Midwest and Southeast. He's also opened for Charley Crockett, and will continue opening for great artists like Leon Bridges and Ian Munsick next year.
He will also make his first-ever appearances at Stagecoach, C2C in London, Tortuga Music Festival, and more in 2025, and he's certainly one to keep your eye on to have a big year next year.
