Post Malone Responding “Yes Sir” To Everything Chris Stapleton Says Is Just So Wholesome
So wholesome.
Post Malone once again proves that he's one of the most down-to-earth guys in country music. Since releasing his debut country album, F-1 Trillion, Post Malone has gained the respect of many country music heavy hitters. He enlisted a star-studded list of features for the album, including Hank Williams Jr., Tim McGraw, Morgan Wallen, HARDY, and more. Having that list of artists is impressive, but even more remarkable is that everyone on that list has nothing but high praise for the Texas native.
Everyone loves Post Malone.
While many viral clips show how good Post Malone is to his fans, one interview clip amplifies why his country music colleagues love him.
During the CMA Awards, Chris Stapleton and Post Malone lit up the stage with an electric performance of their duet "California Sober." The two kicked off the awards show with a bang, and in my opinion, it was one of the standout performances from the evening. Ahead of taking the stage together, the two men talked about what it was like working together on "California Sober."
Stapleton said that their time writing together felt very natural, and given that they had never met prior to their writing session, the track came together rather quickly.
"We got together to write a song, and we were there for twelve hours, or something, start to finish, and the record was made in that moment. It was a very organic, nice thing."
Before Stapleton continues, Malone interjects, sharing his nervousness about writing with Stapleton.
"I was terrified to hang with Chris. He's just the best. You're one of the men of all time."
Stapleton laughs at Malone's statement, unsure how to receive the compliment. While Stapleton might now view himself the way that Malone does, he views Malone as a great songwriter.
"We had a lot of fun. You know he's a great writer and a great artist. And you know there was a lot of mutual respect in the room, and we just had a big time, and it came out how it came out."
The way that Malone reacts to all of these compliments shows how great of a dude he is. Everything Stapleton says, praising him, is followed by a "Thank you, sir." Even when Stapleton looked at Malone for confirmation that the story of their songwriting session was correct, Malone would validate him with a "Yes, sir."
His momma must be PROUD. His response reflects his Southern roots and his respect for Chris Stapleton. He sees it as a true honor to stand alongside him on stage.
Later in the interview, Post Malone tries to joke around with Stapleton about getting him to dance during their performance:
"Sing the song; I'll shake my ass a little bit. Maybe we will get Chris gyrating, a little percolation."
But when Stapleton jokingly shoots the idea down, Malone responds again with a "Yes, sir," like a little kid in trouble. It's so wholesome.
This has to be the most tender moment from the CMA Awards. We need to protect Post Malone at all costs.
