The truth about GT at last

German media regrets Greta tribute: "Holy cow"
Published 8 December 2024 at 14.03
Domestic. After Greta Thunberg, 21, criticized Israel, the German media is now openly declaring its distance from the Swedish, which, however, does not seem to care.
- Fuck Germany and fuck Israel, she says in a speech in Mannheim, Germany.

The newspaper Die Welt has had enough of Thunberg's criticism of Germany's arms support to Israel and on Friday published a text in which a well-mannered middle-aged liberal with a Hitler look accused the Swede of having gone from being a "climate prophet to a holy cow" in the German public.

The liberal started in a speech that Greta Thunberg gave in Mannheim, Germany, where she criticized the unreserved German support for Israel and the German arms deliveries to the Israeli government.

- Fuck Germany, Greta said during the speech and was met by shouts of agreement from the audience before she added:

- And fuck Israel!

The statement has drawn sharp criticism from the right to the west in German media, but in English-language social media the reactions are more mixed.

After the clip from Mannheim was published by an indignant American-Jewish user on X, many are expressing their surprise that the Swede has apparently broken with the establishment that created her.

"She was praised by politicians worldwide and highlighted as a role model and source of inspiration. But when she chose to stand up for Gaza, all doors were closed, and she was kicked out from country after country," writes the signature Lina.

"Greta could have easily become a rich liberal voice in the Davos elite, but instead she stands firm and points to the hypocrisy of capitalism, imperialism and the West. RESPECT, GRETA!", writes user Mitul Kanji.

"She's becoming a REAL revolutionary and the liberals who thought they could turn her into a brunch-eating, mimosa-sipping, action-paralyzed slacker of their own kind are now clutching their pearl necklaces," writes another.

However, not everyone is equally delighted. When a Jewish activist from Iran asks "what the hell happened" to Greta, Christian Democrat EU parliamentarian and former Bulletin profiler Alice Teodorescu Måwe responds to X:

"Nothing happened. Everything is connected".
