When this raccoon got her head stuck in a dumpster, the Wildlife Rescue Coalition of Northeast Florida arrived to save the day! After receiving a call about the critter’s unfortunate situation, the organization sent some volunteers to lend a hand. Thankfully, they were able to get her out of this slightly silly-looking predicament! The wildlife rescue shared a couple of photos from the incident on Instagram. A picture taken before the rescue shows the hapless raccoon with her head sticking out through an opening in the dumpster. Her expression almost looks a little sheepish! In the post’s caption, the Wildlife Rescue Coalition shared a little bit more about how they saved the animal as well as their plans for her rehabilitation. FOUR of our amazing volunteers met up at the scene and were able to safely get her loose! She will be staying with us until we make sure she’s okay and then she will be free once again.” Raccoons unfortunately love garbage. Although the wildlife rescue didn’t mention how the raccoon got stuck in the first place, it’s probably safe to assume she was just trying to get her hands on some food. She wouldn’t be the first of her kind to get trapped in a dumpster, either. A man on social media managed to capture some footage of another raccoon in a similar situation. In this clip, the critter in question found itself at the bottom of a dumpster, unable to climb back out. When the man found the animal, they were clawing at the walls, trying desperately to escape! Kingsley Luckily for the creature, this man was a quick thinker. He placed a long plank of wood in the dumpster for the raccoon to climb. Once the animal realized this was their ticket out, they clambered up the board in no time! It’s not really either of these raccoons’ fault that they were drawn to the potential snacks in these dumpsters. As the Humane Society of the United States points out, it’s our responsibility to make sure that these critters can’t rifle through our garbage!
