Poll: Just 1 in 5 Americans Are Fine With Joe Biden Pardoning Hunter

According to a recent poll, just one in five Americans say they don’t take issue with President Joe Biden’s decision to issue a sweeping pardon for his embattled son — Hunter Biden — with just weeks to go before he leaves the White House. The survey was undertaken by The Associated Press — NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, and found that a majority of Americans, regardless of political affiliation, disapproved of Biden’s decision to pardon his son. Just over 1,200 adults responded to the poll between December 5-9, and over all just 22% said that they approved of the pardon in question. Among Democrats, support for Biden’s pardon was slightly higher — 38% — but only 12% of independents and 7% of Republicans approved of the move. One Republican who responded to the poll, Peter Prestia of northern New Jersey, explained, “I know it’s not right to believe politicians as far as what they say compared to what they do, but he did explicitly say, ‘I will not pardon my son.’ So, it’s just the fact that he went back on his word.” “He does have that right to pardon anybody he wants. But he just should have kept his mouth shut, and he did it because it was before the election, so it’s just a bold-faced lie,” Prestia added. Texas Democrat Trinell Champ added, “Don’t say you’re gonna do something and then fall back. At the end of the day, all you have is your word.” CHECK OUT THE DAILY WIRE HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE Since the pardon was issued over the long Thanksgiving weekend, most of the criticism aimed at President Biden has been primarily directed toward his oft-repeated promise not to pardon his son. Among those who said they were fine with Biden’s pardon, regardless of his previous promises not to do so, was Ohio Democrat Robert Jenkins. “Do you have kids? You’re gonna leave office and not pardon your kid? I mean, it’s a no-brainer to me,” Jenkins said.
