Another generous donation from Dolly Parton. It was recently announced that the country superstar donated $1 million to the Salvation Army this year, which is the second time she's donated $1 million to the organization. The gift will immediately serve local communities across the country to meet vital needs with food and grocery programs, and of course, comes after Parton headlined The Salvation Army's 27th annual Red Kettle Campaign Kickoff halftime show last year at AT&T stadium when the Dallas Cowboys played the Washington Commanders. This money actually comes from the Courage and Civility award fund she was honored with by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his partner Lauren Sanchez, which Dolly previous used to fund a donation to Hurricane Helene relief efforts in October. The Salvation Army's National Commander Kenneth G. Hodder says that they're "honored" to receive such a generous gift from Dolly, and it will go towards serving millions of individuals and families who are in need this holiday season: "Ms. Parton is once again ringing in hope and holiday spirit through another incredibly generous donation. Ahead of this Christmas season, when hope is needed more than ever, we are honored and grateful to receive this gift which will help The Salvation Army serve millions of individuals and families during a time of vital need." The organization adds: "With the help of generous contributions like Parton's during the holidays, The Salvation Army can meet the immediate and long-term needs of millions of individuals and families.' And while we're on the topic of Dolly and The Salvation Army, let's not forget her aforementioned, iconic halftime performance in 2023. Dolly shocked the world when she came out wearing the iconic Dallas Cowboys cheerleading uniform that barely anyone can really pull off, much less a woman who is pushing 80 (she’s 78)… but most people aren’t Dolly Parton, obviously. Running through hits like “Jolene” and “9 to 5,” in addition to a cover of the Queen hit “We Are The Champions,” Dolly was still promoting her massive Rockstar album, and it was quite a moment.
