Our doors are open to all patrons who wish to dine with us. Without any advance notice, today’s campaign stop caused some momentary confusion for our staff. However, Senator Vance and his team were welcomed into our restaurant shortly after and engaged with our guests inside and on the property. Senator Vance’s supportive comments that our manager got a little nervous given the Secret Service, police, and crowd accurately reflect the nature of what occurred, and we are glad that it was resolved quickly. VP nominee JD Vance got a brief taste of rejection when Primanti Brothers staff. You see, they were caught off guard by when the Secret Service started to pour in. So, they initially turned him away. After the confusion, Vance was let in to meet supporters and paid for their meals. Vance then went on to say no hard feelings for them, and that we should continue to support them. They are a small business, after all and part of the community. Though there's many online that don't share that sentiment, even calling for a boycott. Kamala Harris and her crew showed up and the same restaurant kicked everyone out to make room for her. Yahoo News reports: Videos of Republican Vice President Nominee JD Vance seemingly being turned away from a local Primanti Brothers are growing popular on social media but the business said the candidate was welcome just like any of their other customers. Primanti Brothers said there was a bit of confusion. The restaurant was given no notice of Vance’s visit. The manager became alarmed after the Secret Service and a large police presence suddenly arrived at the restaurant. The issue was resolved and Vance was able to enter the business to meet with supporters shortly after. One night, while in his new bedroom, a boy confronts a bizarre & creepy humanoid with striking unhuman-like physical features that is crouched in the corner watching him!I received the following account and a follow-up:"This incident happened a couple weeks after my family and I moved into our new house. It was built in the early 90s on land that used to be a big cornfield for many years. We were the first family to live in it.One night, while sleeping in my new bedroom, I awoke to a feeling of absolute sheer terror. I was facing towards my closet and saw something crouching in the corner of my room. It was just sitting there staring directly at me. I knew it was something very evil because the air in the room felt suffocating and every part of my body was on full alert.I was just a little kid but to me, this thing looked like a cross between a goblin and a gargoyle. That's the only way I could describe it at that time. Most of its features were obscured but what I remember most was what looked like a stunted snout protruding from its face and really big lips! Weird I know, but that's what I distinctly remember seeing. All I wanted to do was run! So that's what I did. I threw back my covers, praying my legs wouldn't get tangled up in them, jumped out of bed, and bolted down the hallway and into my parent's bedroom. I was screaming and crying.My parents went into my room, turned the lights on, and of course, nothing was there. They were convinced I just had a nightmare but no, I was definitely wide awake! If irony had a throne, John Kerry would be leaning on it, monologuing about democracy’s headaches at this week’s World Economic Forum’s Sustainable Development Impact Meetings. Here, the former Secretary of State and America’s first designated Climate Envoy complained about the modern “crisis” of governance—that awful, inconvenient reality where everyone has a voice. Apparently, too many people are ruining what used to be a good thing. Kerry, cloistered in the comfort of the Davos bubble, reminded us just how difficult it is to govern when the masses actually get to speak their minds. “It’s really hard to govern today,” Kerry lamented, exuding the charm of someone frustrated that the rabble is talking back. The referees of truth, as he calls them, have been “eviscerated.” You know, those old-school arbiters—the gatekeepers of facts—who made sure the right people got to say the right things, ensuring a comfortable consensus among the elite. Back then, if something was decided to be true, well, it stayed true. He could hardly disguise his exasperation, saying, “Our First Amendment stands as a major block to the ability to be able to just hammer it out of existence.” In other words, free speech is an obstacle—an inconvenient truth—that prevents those in power from making the bad stuff go away with a flick of the wrist. The good old days of message control are fading, and Kerry isn’t happy about it. The US’s first Climate Envoy went on to express his fear of “misinformation,” a word that’s become shorthand for “anything I disagree with” in the discourse of modern governance. To be fair, the proliferation of unfiltered content has thrown a wrench into the carefully oiled machinery of public relations. But Kerry’s wistfulness for the days of centralized narrative management suggests something more than concern for public welfare. It hints at a frustration with the sheer messiness of democracy itself—when people are empowered to shout over each other, rather than politely taking turns in a line managed by legacy media. When Consensus is the Hardest Word Kerry’s nostalgia for the referee era betrays the fundamental problem: consensus is messy, chaotic, and utterly infuriating when it’s done right. In his view, consensus-building is getting harder because all the voices—yes, even the dumb, crazy, disagreeable ones—are getting a say. Democracy without controlled consensus isn’t real democracy, at least not the polished kind that fits neatly on a forum PowerPoint slide. Democracy on Dial-Up Speed “I think democracies are very challenged right now and have not proven they can move fast enough or big enough to deal with the challenges that we are facing,” Kerry said, presumably reflecting on climate change, social inequality, and the rest of the urgent issues the WEF loves to discuss over champagne and hors d’oeuvres. John Kerry might want to “hammer” dissent “out of existence,” but that’s not how freedom works. You can’t advocate for free speech out of one side of your mouth and simultaneously lament the existence of dissent from the other. If governance is hard, it’s because democracy is supposed to be hard. Consensus is supposed to be earned, not enforced. And maybe, just maybe, that’s the whole point. Washington Week with The Atlantic, PBS’s weekly political roundtable featuring outside journalists, is described on their website as "known for its depth, balance and civil discourse." No, it's not. It's known for red-hot hate of Donald Trump.  They were particularly harsh on candidate Trump and running mate J.D. Vance this week, perhaps prodded by guest host Laura Barron-Lopez, the most liberally biased reporter on the PBS News Hour. Barron-Lopez asked The Atlantic’s Adam Harris about the candidates’ approach to immigration and saw a cliched and exaggerated “a campaign of fear, policy of fear” on Trump’s side, which will benefit Harris, who “can only go up on her immigration policies.” Barron-Lopez fretted over X posts by Rep. Clay Higgins of Louisiana attacking Haitian immigrants and asked “What does this say about the state of the GOP?” Heidi Przybyla of Politico suggested words would lead to massacres. Heidi Przybyla, National Investigative Correspondent, Politico: ….this is blatantly anti-immigrant because these Haitian workers are here legally fulfilling jobs that are needed. But there are no consequences in the party right now for comments like this. Yes, he was told to pull it back. But, overall, we’re in a climate now of unprecedented political violence. We haven`t seen something like this since the 1970s. And it’s worse by several metrics. Because in the 70s, we were talking about property damage, not assaults on individuals. We didn’t have like the shootings of black shoppers in supermarkets in Buffalo. She's so bitter that Trump being shot in the head is a so-what moment, it's being exploited (unlike the media assigning blame for supermarket shootings to the Republicans):  So, right now, the whole narrative about political violence though, has been driven by Trump saying, well, I've been the target of assassination attempts. But what the data shows is that a lot of the political violence is actually taking place on American people, on the American citizens, on election officials, the threats against election officials. But none of that is resonating within the GOP. They`re not disciplining their own. And so there are no consequences, and comments like this just continue to be made. Both Collins and Benjaminson (a new face) accused the GOP of “dehumanization” of all refugees, while Benjaminson and Przybyla seethed over Vance. Wendy Benjaminson: ….if there is one person among the four of them, well, maybe Trump too, but if there`s one person who needs to make up some ground with female voters, it is J.D. Vance. He is the one who started the childless cat ladies thing. He is the one who said, ‘okay, my wife`s not white, but I love her. She`s a great mom,’ which is I wouldn`t appreciate that if they were talking about me. He has, you know, spoken out against abortion rights and against reproductive rights…. Speaking of “misinformation,” Vance was not insulting his wife. Here’s the exchange, courtesy of the liberal fact-checkers at Snopes, which took place on Megyn Kelly’s podcast after Kelly forwarded leftist MSNBC host Joy Reid’s smear that Vance only valued “white stay-at-home moms.” Vance: That's just so disgusting Megyn. I love my wife so much. I love her because she's who she is. Obviously, she's not a white person, and we've been accused, attacked by some white supremacists over that. But I just, I love Usha. She's such a good mom. She's such a brilliant lawyer and I am so proud of her…. Bitter Przybyla even managed to denigrate Vance for an elite accomplishment liberals have long celebrated among Democratic politicians, one which many journalists share: Graduating from an Ivy League school. Przybyla: ….I think Walz has kind of previewed what he`s going to do with attacking Vance, like you`re not really an everyday man. You did Hillbilly Elegy, but you hang out with Silicon Valley billionaires, and he went to Yale. And, by the way, I`m here to defend the honor of all women who own cats.
