From Firehouse.com: The incident commander at last summer’s deadly historic Maui wildfire has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor. Maui Battalion Chief Shawn Rogers, 52, was indicted by a grand jury last week, according to Hawaii News Now. Rogers is accused of abusing the girl when she was about 12 years old, and continued for about two-and-a-half years, the station reported, citing court documents. The 25-year veteran of the fire department surrendered to police upon learning about the indictment and warrant for his arrest. Maui Fire Chief Brad Ventura released the following statement: “We are deeply concerned about the allegations regarding one of our firefighters. We can find no evidence to suggest that the Fire Chief is connected with the missing children.
