IRON MEAT is Available! – “Contra-Action on Steroids”

“On my way to PRGE today, this is what I’m playing” Ryan Burger – Publisher of Old School Gamer. Get it now at www.ironmeat.com Review from September Issue of Old School Gamer Iron Meat by Brian Lesyk Retroware’s latest release, Iron Meat, takes the best parts of Contra III: The Alien Wars (Konami, 1992) and mixes in a solid dose of Cronenberg-level body horror elements for a heart-pounding run-and-gun platform shooter experience. You play as Vadim, a super-soldier tasked with defending Earth against an insatiable alien onslaught. Players can go at it alone or dial-up the fun with some simultaneous two-player co-op action. With an arsenal of discoverable weapons, dozens of unlockable player skins, achievements to…well…achieve, and nine multi-scrolling levels to rampage through, Iron Meat is a much-welcomed love letter to the fast-paced and challenging 16-bit actions titles of yesteryear. Notably, Iron Meat recently became Retroware’s first “speed run” release, meaning it launched with digital and physical availability on its release date—something virtually unheard of in today’s indie game distribution market. Iron Meat’s creator, Ivan Suvarov, began his career with traditional drawing, but later decided to parlay his artistic skills into producing high-quality pixel art. Ivan eventually dabbled in programming games on a hobbyist level. His production of Iron Meat begin in 2017 with him later collaborating with Retroware in 2019. Iron Meat has two in-game soundtracks, both created by Vladimir “Darkman007” Tugay—the more modern BGM and the old school chiptune versions of the same songs—both highly reminiscent of hard-driving metal tracks found in the DOOM series of games. Iron Meat is currently available for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4/5, Xbox Series, and PC. – www.ironmeat.com     The post IRON MEAT is Available! – “Contra-Action on Steroids” appeared first on Old School Gamer Magazine.

ECLIPTIC - Another Commodore Amiga game update tease from bwldrbast!

Want even more Amiga news? Good! Because I've just been informed via our good friend Saberman(YT), that bwldrbst has released a new demo tease of the work in progress turn based tactical combat and role playing game of 'ECLIPTIC'. A game in which you play as a number of robots that must repair, clear out aliens, and deal with security systems on the space ship ECLIPTIC. To coincide with this news
