The Maui story has largely faded from the headlines, but we’re not forgetting it here. And today we have a big update. This actually is from back in May, but I just stumbled upon it today and if I missed it then I figured many of you may have missed it too. From Firehouse.com: The incident commander at last summer’s deadly historic Maui wildfire has been charged with sexually assaulting a minor. Maui Battalion Chief Shawn Rogers, 52, was indicted by a grand jury last week, according to Hawaii News Now. Rogers is accused of abusing the girl when she was about 12 years old, and continued for about two-and-a-half years, the station reported, citing court documents. The 25-year veteran of the fire department surrendered to police upon learning about the indictment and warrant for his arrest. Maui Fire Chief Brad Ventura released the following statement: “We are deeply concerned about the allegations regarding one of our firefighters. Mr. Rogers is not scheduled to work this week, and we will continue to evaluate this situation as more information is available.” Watch more here from local KHON2 news: Now…as to the last part of the Tweet which alleges 500 children are still missing and attempts to subtly suggest that the Fire Chief may be connected to their disappearance. We can find no evidence to suggest that the Fire Chief is connected with the missing children. Additionally, according to ChatGPT (which does rely on Far-Left “Fact Checking” websites) only 31 people are still missing from the Maui fires and only one of those is a minor:
