A 25-year-old illegal immigrant was arrested following a deadly hit-and-run in Dormont, Pennsylvania, on Saturday night. Police in Dormont, a suburb of Pittsburgh, identified Saul Rivera-Ramirez as the suspect on Sunday after the illegal immigrant, who was driving a red Ford Taurus, allegedly struck and killed 23-year-old Christian Sulka, who was on a motorcycle, WPXI Channel 11 News reported. Rivera-Ramirez reportedly fled the scene of the fatal crash on foot with a woman and a small child before he was arrested. He now faces multiple charges, including homicide by vehicle and driving without a license. Allegheny County authorities confirmed that detectives found that the suspect is in the U.S. illegally. “Detectives contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and we would defer any further questions about Rivera-Ramirez’s immigration status to that agency,” authorities said in a statement. Pennsylvania GOP Senate candidate Dave McCormick addressed reports of the fatal hit-and-run in a post on X, slamming the “liberal immigration policies” of his Democratic opponents. “Devastating news. A 23-year-old Pennsylvanian was killed in Allegheny County by an illegal immigrant who fatally struck him with a car and then ran away,” McCormick wrote. “Bob Casey and Kamala Harris’ weak, liberal immigration policies are deadly. We need STRONG leadership to keep PA safe!” Illegal immigrants in Tennessee and North Carolina have also recently been charged with fatal hit-and-runs. Ulises Martinez, a 29-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico, allegedly struck 42-year-old restaurant owner Matt Carney in Nashville on June 19, and Carney died from his injuries two weeks later. Last month in North Carolina, Maria Concepcion Cardona Alejo, 41, pleaded guilty to driving without a license and a hit-and-run that killed 20-year-old Michael Archuleta. North Carolina Superior Court Judge Tiffany Powers, a Democrat, sentenced Alejo to just 120 days in jail. Between 2009 and 2021, Alejo was given a citation at least seven times for driving without a license and slapped with small fines for the infractions.

The new fact sheet by Republicans on the House Homeland Security Committee has been released, showing nationwide encounters totaled nearly 159,000 in August, including more than 107,000 at the Southwest border, an increase of more than 3% from July’s Southwest border numbers. The rise under the Biden-Harris administration is staggering compared to the Trump administration. The number under the Biden-Harris administration now totals more than 10.3 million, compared to 3.1 million from Fiscal Years (FY) 2017-2020 combined, the Republicans stated. And that number for the Biden-Harris administration does not include the estimated two million known gotaways recorded since the start of Fiscal Year 2021. “Monthly encounters at ports of entry alone have not totaled fewer than 90,000 since February 2023,” the Republicans wrote. “Since January 2023, more than 1.3 million inadmissible aliens have been granted entry through the illegal CBP One and Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan (CHNV) mass-parole programs President Biden and his ‘border czar’ Vice President Harris have created.” “Since the program began, roughly 530,000 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans have been mass paroled under the administration’s CHNV parole program at ports of entry,” the Committee continued. “388 illegal aliens on the terrorist watchlist have been apprehended between ports of entry at the Southwest and northern borders since FY21.” Am I Racist? In late July, Vice President Kamala Harris tried to present herself as tough on immigration, apparently in an attempt to deflect from the harsh criticism of her as President Biden’s reputed “border czar” while illegal immigration had soared to unprecedented levels. “In this campaign, I will proudly put my record against his any day of the week, including for example on the issue of immigration,” she boasted, then bragged about her record as attorney general of California, “I walked underground tunnels between the United States and Mexico on that border with law enforcement officers. I went after international gangs, drug cartels, and human traffickers that came into our country illegally. I prosecuted them in case after case and I won.” As America First Legal, which launched inquiries into Harris’ history in California’s government between 1990 and 2017, noted: “As California Attorney General, Kamala Harris interfered with the enforcement of federal immigration laws—even defending San Francisco’s sanctuary-city ordinance and opposing California’s participation in the federal Secure Communities program (a program that enabled ICE to deport criminal aliens from local communities).”

President Joe Biden will make a rare appearance on ABC’s “The View” on Wednesday, according to an announcement made during Monday’s broadcast of the midday talk show, breaking up what has seemed to be a nearly endless string of vacations. Biden has not been seen in his official capacity on more than a handful of occasions since he exited the 2024 presidential race in late July — while still isolating with his most recent bout with COVID. Since then, he has spent several long weekends at his beach house in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, in addition to traveling to California and New York. In between, he has stepped out occasionally to stump for Vice President Harris or to attend to official duties. Even those few appearances have continued to raise questions about Biden’s cognitive decline, however. In one such instance, he raised eyebrows when he told a reporter that he would “do 9/11” — meaning that he planned to attend the memorials — after traveling to New York for a birthday party. Critics also came out in force after it appeared that first lady Jill Biden was actually the one at the helm during a recent Cabinet meeting.

Former Republican Rep. Mike Rogers has been visiting churches across Michigan during his Senate campaign, and has found that people of faith in the battleground state are worried about one issue above the rest: the economy. Rogers has visited around a dozen places of worship, traveling from the urban centers of Detroit and Pontiac to the towns of Traverse City in northwest Michigan and Marquette in the Upper Peninsula. Rogers told The Daily Wire that the church visits allow him to worship with Michiganders of diverse faith backgrounds, and then hear their perspective after services. During his conversations with Christians and church leaders, Rogers said that kitchen table issues are the concerns most often discussed. “A big part of it is what you would hear everywhere else: the cost of groceries, the cost of energy bills, their ability to try to make their paycheck last until the end of the month,” Rogers told The Daily Wire. “So many people are literally living paycheck-to-paycheck. That is always front-and-center.” Rogers said that moral issues — such as men competing in women’s sports — remain important topics for Christians in Michigan, but because “things have gotten so hard” financially over the past three-and-a-half years, people of faith are focusing on economic problems. “People of faith are like every other person who’s worried about their cost of goods and services, and they’re also worried about the moral aspect of the environment their kids are growing up in,” Rogers continued. Rogers is currently trailing Democrat Rep. Elissa Slotkin by five points, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average. The Michigan race, which was blown wide open after Democrat Sen. Debbie Stabenow announced last year that she would retire at the end of her term, is one of the numerous races Republicans are hoping to win to gain back control of the Senate. Republicans have not won a Senate race in Michigan since 1995. The Senate candidate argued that Evangelicals and Catholics “feel very disconnected” from Slotkin, who Rogers slammed for voting “100% for the Biden-Harris agenda.” He added that the pastors and priests he’s talked to are trying to help address their congregants’ financial needs while also “making sure they don’t step away from faith when times get really hard.” Pastor Lorenzo Sewell of Detroit’s 180 Church, one of the places of worship Rogers recently visited, told The Daily Wire that his roughly 300 congregants are mainly concerned about the economy and immigration. “People know that the rhetoric isn’t real as it pertains to the Harris and Walz ticket. They know the rhetoric isn’t real as it pertains to wages going up,” Sewell said. “Just because the median income goes up on paper, that doesn’t mean I have enough money to meet the end of the month.” Am I Racist? Sewell, who addressed the Republican National Convention in July, added that the people in his majority-black community know the economy “bleeds over into the immigration issue.” “We’re hearing people say that it would be better to take a three-day journey and leave the country and try to come back in because immigrants in our community are being treated better than those who are legally there,” he said. “These are real pain points for people in poverty today.” Former President Donald Trump also visited 180 Church in Detroit for a roundtable discussion in June. Sewell said that Trump and Rogers coming into the black community and visiting his church “set a new trajectory” for the Republican Party in Michigan. He argued that the Democratic Party has enjoyed most of the support from black voters while “pillaging” the black community for decades. “You need a guy like Mike to fight for us,” Sewell said, adding. “I don’t have any personal problems with Elissa Slotkin, but her policies are not real as it pertains to people in poverty.” Rogers’s focus on connecting with people of faith hasn’t been limited to Christians. The Senate candidate also said he has visited a Buddhist temple and has met with Muslim leaders. “Set aside the Israel-Palestine issue for a minute, and Muslim voters line up with Republicans,” Rogers said. “They’re very conservative. They’re socially conservative. They’re fiscally conservative. They’re worried about the future of the country that they have come to live in and enjoy. And they’re worried about the state of education for their kids.” “They’re small business owners,” he added. “They worry about the economic environment and what this heavy regulatory regime coming out of the Democrat Party is doing to them, not for them.”

Vice President Kamala Harris reportedly once tried, unsuccessfully, to block Kimberly Guilfoyle from working for the San Francisco District Attorney’s office, a story that Guilfoyle says demonstrates Harris’ history of undermining other women. A Monday New York Times report notes that Harris tried to block Guilfoyle from getting a job in the San Francisco District Attorney’s office around 2000, as both women were on the rise in California politics. Guilfoyle, now a Trump campaign surrogate who is engaged to Donald Trump Jr., tells The Daily Wire that the incident encapsulates how Harris relates to other women. “The fact is that for decades Kamala Harris has turned public service into self-service,” Guilfoyle told The Daily Wire. “From her conduct at the San Francisco DA’s office all the way to the vice presidency, she’s tried to lift herself up by attempting to bring others down.” “She may talk about wanting to help other women, but reality tells a far different story,” Guilfoyle added. “And it extends to her party’s entire platform. From efforts to destroy women’s sports to enabling a border invasion that has taken the lives of innocent girls, this is a candidate and an agenda laser-focused on undermining the lives of women across this country.” Guilfoyle and Harris “were young lawyers, rising political stars and social acquaintances in the most exclusive quarters of San Francisco civic life,” the Times notes. Harris’ ex-lover, former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown, described the two as “superstar women” to the Times, saying, “They represented the city.” (Eva Marie Uzcategui/Bloomberg via Getty Images) When Guilfoyle sought a position in the San Francisco District Attorney’s office, around 2000, Harris sought to block her from doing so, SFGate reported at the time. According to the publication, Harris got a hold of Guilfoyle’s resume and then gave her a call. Both women were thought to be eying the San Francisco District Attorney position, which Harris went on to win in 2004 until 2010. A source close to Guilfoyle told The Daily Wire that she wasn’t actually interested in the position, and was instead looking towards larger opportunities in television. “She had bigger items, and the bigger items were television,” former Harris boyfriend Willie Brown told the Times. “That would be Kimberly. She had that kind of chutzpah.” But Harris’ interference indicated that she did not want Guilfoyle as a competitor in her arena. “She called me and said basically that she was on the hiring committee and in charge of the budget for the D.A.’s office, and that I should have gone through her if I wanted to return to the D.A.’s office — and that there was no money to hire me,” Guilfoyle told SFGate in 2003. The call surprised Guilfoyle, who was dating then-San Francisco Supervisor Gavin Newsom at the time, as SFGate reported. The publication said that Guilfoyle called the San Francisco D.A.’s office to find out what Harris’ call had meant — only to be told that Harris did not have a say in whether she was hired, and that there was no hiring committee at all. Harris pushed back on Guilfoyle’s claims, telling SFGate that her call was just “to see if she needed any help — to let her know I was there to help her.” “I never discouraged her from joining the office. I never suggested to her there wasn’t a job for her in the San Francisco D.A.’s office — of that, I’m very clear,” Harris told SFGate in 2003. “I think she is a great lawyer,” Harris reportedly added, “and I look forward to working with her.” According to the Times, Guilfoyle and Harris’ boss corroborated Guilfoyle’s story, and recalled how Harris had “fierce opposition to the move.” Neither the Harris campaign nor the White House responded to requests for comment. Guilfoyle did end up getting a job in the San Francisco D.A.’s office several months later, and would go on to prosecute a high-profile case concerning Diane Whipple, a woman who was mauled to death by dogs. According to SFGate, that “chaotic and tearful trial catapulted Guilfoyle to national fame, as news broadcasts carried nightly coverage of the day’s proceedings.” Guilfoyle would go on to work for Fox News, and now hosts The Kimberly Guilfoyle Show on Rumble. “The landmark Diane Whipple dog mauling case didn’t just show that Kimberly was a legal star,” the source close to Guilfoyle told The Daily Wire. “But that she was also destined to be a TV star, too. And her trajectory in years after confirms that.” Guilfoyle maintains that the anecdote is a good example of how Harris has postured on many issues related to women. She also points to Harris’ support of taxpayer-funded sex-change surgeries for illegal immigrant prisoners, which could allow biological male criminals to live among female prisoners. The Daily Wire reported last week that the Federal Bureau of Prisons has about 22,000 foreign nationals in its custody, and it appears that all of these prisoners are eligible for taxpayer-funded gender transitions.
