The black Apple Watch Ultra 2 is already $50 off in select sizes

Put it all on black. | Photo by Amelia Holowaty Krales / The Verge The Apple Watch Ultra 2 isn’t new, as it launched last year, but its newly available black color looks pretty sick and is currently receiving one of its first (small) discounts. Right now, you can get the black titanium Ultra 2 with a green Alpine Loop strap in either small or large sizes for $749.99 ($49 off) at Amazon. (And if you’re not style-obsessed, the Ultra 2 is still available at Amazon in its original color for $689.99.) It’s still an expensive smartwatch even with this modest discount, but if you feel compelled to get one now, whether for its adventure-ready fitness tracking or fashion reasons (hey, no judgment here), you might as well save what you can. Apple’s chunky wearable has a large 49mm display, and its titanium case... Continue reading…

iOS 18.1 beta 5 now available as Apple Intelligence launch nears

A week after seeding iOS 18.1 beta 4 to iPhone developers, Apple is releasing a new build to prepare for the official launch of Apple Intelligence next month. Alongside iOS 18.1 beta 5, Apple has also made available iPadOS 18.1 beta 5. With the previous testing version, Apple added new functionalities while making the first public beta available for everyone wanting to try Apple Intelligence. Here's what's changed: Spatial photos support on iPhone 15 Pro: This beta allows iPhone 15 Pro users to finally take Spatial Photos. Record calls: All iOS 18 iPhone models can record calls directly within the Phone app. Still, an iPhone 15 Pro is required to summarize a recording. Type to Siri: The type-to-Siri function has improved for Apple Intelligence devices, as the assistant tries to complete the user’s queries. Besides that, the iOS 18.1 beta brings the following Apple Intelligence features: Writing Tools: Users can rewrite, proofread, and summarize text nearly everywhere they write, including Mail, Notes, Pages, and third-party apps Improved Siri: With a new design, Siri can maintain context between requests. Even if you stumble over words or shift what you’re saying mid-sentence, Siri can understand what you actually want. Priority notifications: They appear at the top of the stack, letting you know what to pay attention to at a glance. Notifications are summarized, so you can scan them faster. Priority messages in Mail: Elevate time-sensitive messages to the top of your inbox, like an invitation that has a deadline today or a check-in reminder for your flight this afternoon. Reduce interruptions: With iOS 18.1 beta 1, an all-new Focus Mode understands the content of your notifications and shows you the ones that might need immediate attention, like a text about picking up your child from daycare later today. Email summarization: Tap to reveal a summary of a long email in the Mail app and cut to the chase. Record and transcribe calls in the Notes app: Just hit record in the Notes or Phone apps to capture audio recordings and transcripts. Apple Intelligence generates summaries of your transcripts, so you can get to the most important information at a glance. Smart Reply in Mail: Quickly draft an email response with all the right details. Apple Intelligence can identify the question you were asked in an email and offer relevant selections to include in your response. Clean Up: This Photos app feature can identify and remove distracting objects in the background of a photo without accidentally altering the subject. Summarization: Apple Intelligence can now summarize more than just Messages and Mail notifications. BGR will let you know if we find anything new in today's iOS 18.1 beta 5. Apple releases beta 2 of watchOS 11.1, tvOS 18.1, and visionOS 2.1

Apple is focused on releasing Apple Intelligence for iPhone, iPad, and Mac users next month. Even in beta, this AI platform is the company's hope for the future. In addition to the new beta versions of iOS 18.1, iPadOS 18.1, and macOS Sequoia 15.1, Cupertino is now rolling out beta 2 of watchOS 11.1, tvOS 18.1, and visionOS 2.1. At this moment, it's unclear what's new with watchOS 11.1, tvOS 18.1, and visionOS 2.1. However, Apple has some delayed features for these operating system updates (except watchOS 11) that might be added to the beta cycle in the near future. These are some of them: tvOS 18 has these features delayed, and tvOS 18.1 beta might add them: Robot vacuum cleaners are now compatible with the Home app, so they can participate in automation and scenes and can be activated by a user’s voice using Siri. Screen savers: Movies and TV screen savers are yet to be added; 21:9 support: When connecting your Apple TV to a projector, Apple will give you the option to watch content in this frame. Image source: Apple Inc. visionOS 2 also lacks one important feature, and visionOS 2.1 beta could add them: Mac Virtual Display: It will feature a higher resolution and larger size, creating an ultra-wide display equivalent to two 4K monitors side by side.  In addition, a rumor expects Apple to add Apple Intelligence to Apple Vision Pro in 2025. With that, Apple's spatial computer would be part of this AI platform with the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Cupertino could potentially be waiting for Apple Intelligence to launch and get its best features before expanding to another software. If Apple adds new features to watchOS 11.1, tvOS 18.1, and visionOS 2.1 in beta 2, we'll make sure to update this article with the latest features. With these system major updates just released to all users, we can't wait to see what else Apple has in store for them. While these updates will likely arrive next month, Apple also might be planning an October event. Below, you can learn everything we expect to see at it. BREAKING: Merrick Garland offers to match Ryan Routh’s $150,000 for who can ‘finish the job’ on Trump

WAHINGTON, DC—In a jaw-dropping escalation of governmental ingenuity, the Department of Justice, under Attorney General Merrick Garland, has reportedly decided to match the $150,000 bounty offered by notorious CIA asset Ryan Routh for anyone who can “finish the job” and successfully assassinate former President Donald Trump. “It’s only fair,” said Garland in a press conference, as he delicately adjusted his glasses. “If a rogue operative like Routh can put up such a generous offer, then we at the DOJ can certainly meet him halfway in the spirit of justice, transparency, and bipartisan assassination attempts.” Garland continued, “We’ve seen how ineffective traditional methods have been. Poisoning his diet Coke? Missed him. Golf course snipers? Blown cover. Honestly, it’s getting embarrassing. So, when we heard about Routh’s initiative, we figured, why not make it a joint effort? This country is all about teamwork.” Ryan Routh, who made the most recent assassination attempt using an AK47 while Trump was playing golf, expressed his delight at the DOJ’s support. “This is the kind of bipartisanship we need more of in this country. It’s not often the DOJ gets behind you like this when you’re, you know, plotting a high-profile assassination. I’m just glad we’re finally working together on something.” In a memo obtained by whistleblowers, the DOJ outlined the rules for the bounty: anyone who manages to “neutralize” Trump will receive $150,000 in untraceable cash from both Routh and the DOJ — bringing the total reward to a cool $300,000, and a lifetime of IRS forgiveness. Critics have called the program “wildly illegal” and “morally bankrupt,” to which Garland simply responded, “That’s your opinion.” The DOJ’s bold move has not gone unnoticed. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked about the ethical implications of government-sanctioned murder-for-hire, to which she replied, “We don’t comment on ongoing bounties.” When asked if she meant “investigations,” she shrugged and added, “Tomato, tomahto.” Trump, never one to back down from a fight, posted on Truth Social: “Here we go again! First, they try to impeach me, now they’re literally offering cash to finish me off! SAD! But also, kinda flattering. No one else gets this kind of attention. Biden should be worried!” Meanwhile, the FBI has launched a task force to investigate who has the best odds of completing the “job” as Garland began handing out brochures titled Operation Buy One, Get One Free: A Guide to Joint Assassinations. Routh has already begun looking for ways to “out-bid” Garland, announcing he might throw in a Netflix deal and a chance to co-host Saturday Night Live as additional incentives. “We’ve got to make this appealing to the younger crowd. They love true crime,” Routh explained. For now, the race to end Trump’s political career — and maybe more — is heating up, with Americans watching closely to see if the DOJ’s matching offer can finally seal the deal. Former ‘Little Rascals’ Child Star Brandon ‘Bug’ Hall Under Fire For ‘Disgusting’ Comment About Daughters

Thirty years after playing Alfalfa Switzer in Little Rascals, Brandon ‘Bug’ Hall is getting slammed for making misogynistic remarks about his daughters after the birth of his first son, Mark Athanasius Chad Anthony Hall-Barnett. The 39-year-old announced the birth of his baby on X with the caption, “I have an heir! Mama and baby are both doing great. My bride’s fifth delivery, third all natural. Athanasius Contra Mundum,” but social media users were not having it. Brandon ‘Bug’ Hall finds himself in controversy for comments about his daughters I have an heir! A fan asked why his fifth child is considered his successor rather than his eldest daughter, and the child star responded by saying he meant “heir, not dishwasher.” His response was met with an angry rebuttal as X users called him out for his disgusting and toxic perception of women as domestic laborers. “What a weird thing to say,” someone exclaimed, while others asked what his heir in question would be inheriting. “This man has 4 daughters by the way. But good luck building an empire with your heir!” a second user quipped. Everett Life after ‘Little Rascals’ After playing Alfalfa in Little Rascals, for which he won a Young Artist Award for Best Performance by a Youth Ensemble in a Motion Picture, he went on to appear in more productions like The Stupids, soccer comedy The Big Green, Safety Patrol, and the likes of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Justice, Providence, and 90210 as a young adult. 24 September 2016 – Culver City, California. Why Jaleel White Says ‘Family Matters’ Revival Is Unlikely

Why Jaleel White Says ‘Family Matters’ Revival Is Unlikely

The ‘90s was a decade known for popular and wholesome sitcoms and shows. Numerous shows were aired during that era, the likes of Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Friends, Roseanne, among others. The massive success of these TV shows can be proved by the number of ‘90s shows being revived recently. Although some reboots have been more successful than others, this only proves that not all the shows in that era are destined for a comeback and this may just apply to Family Matters. Recently, on The Evolution of Jaleel White panel at the 90s Con 2024 in Daytona Beach, Florida, Jaleel White, who portrayed Steve Urkel in Family Matters, shared several reasons he believes Family Matters “belongs only in the ’90s. Jaleel White states reason why he thinks the show won’t work Evrett The 47-year-old actor admitted that the question of a Family Matters revival is one of the most challenging he’s faced in a long time. He explained that he has spent time observing why shows like Family Matters were successful in the ‘90s, and he believes that Family Matters lacks the tension, elements, and characteristics needed for a successful revival and viewer retention in the 21st century. He also revealed that he is hesitant to bring back the show unless he is sure that the show will not fail. ”I’m not going to try us out on the field for anything less than absolute victory,” he noted. White also believes a Family Matters revival wouldn’t work because of the loss of important cast members. He pointed to the passing of Michelle Thomas, who portrayed Myra Monkhouse in 1998, and Rosetta LeNoire, who played Estelle Winslow in 2002. Evrett The ‘Family Matters’ star reveals that Family Matters’ Damaged His Voice Family Matters, a spin-off of Perfect Strangers, was a comedy series that was loved by many. It was about the misadventures and escapades of the Winslow family, an African-American middle-class family living in Chicago. Jaleel White played the role of Steve Urkel, who was introduced half-way into the first season as a one-time character. But, Urkel literally stole the show and became the star and main character of the series. Urkel was known for his quirky personality, weird but unique fashion sense and a high-pitched voice which made his character one of the most popular characters of 1990s television. Everett White later revealed during ’90s Con 2024 that maintaining Urkel’s signature voice during his adolescence caused lasting damage. According to White, a doctor explained that consistently speaking in the same high, nasal pitch during puberty strained his voice, something that could have been avoided if his vocal pitch had fluctuated more. Family Matters premiered in September 1989 and ran for nine seasons, with the final episode airing in July 1998. Sadly, there probably won’t be a Family Matters revival in the near future, but if you’re feeling nostalgic, you can always stream the show on HBO Max.
