Kamala Repeatedly Lies, Blames Pro-Life Laws For Georgia Women’s Deaths

Vice President Kamala Harris repeatedly claimed Friday that Amber Thurman died because of Georgia’s pro-life law protecting unborn babies, falsely stating that Thurman’s doctors could have gone to jail for “providing Amber the care that she needed.” “Under the Trump abortion ban, her doctors could have faced up to a decade in prison for providing Amber the care she needed,” Harris claimed on Friday, as she spoke in Atlanta, Georgia. “Understand what a law like this means. Doctors have to wait until the patient is at death’s door before they take action.” Harris was referring to a Georgia woman who died due to complications from the abortion pill, mifepristone. Following a ProPublica report on Thurman’s death, media outlets, abortion activists, and Democratic lawmakers have used Thurman’s death, and the death of another Georgia woman named Candi Miller, to claim that pro-life laws are endangering women. But there are no laws in the United States that prevent doctors from exercising their medical judgement in treating women experiencing pregnancy emergencies. Georgia specifically allows doctors to perform an abortion if “a physician determines, in reasonable medical judgment, that a medical emergency exists.” Harris repeatedly characterized Thurman’s death as the direct result of President Donald Trump’s pro-life policies, though Trump did not have anything to do with Georgia’s 2019 law protecting unborn babies with a heartbeat. But let’s be absolutely clear: Georgia’s law and every pro-life state law calls on doctors to act in circumstances just like theirs. If abortion advocates weren’t spreading misinformation and confusion to score political points, it’s possible the outcome would have been different.” “Amber and Candi deserve to be thriving together with their children today,” she added. “We stand with state attorneys general who continue to fight for women’s health and safety and we call on every state to take action against deadly misinformation.” Ingrid Skop, a board certified OB-GYN who serves as the director of medical affairs at the Charlotte Lozier Institute, argued that Thurman’s and Miller’s deaths show how dangerous these “self-managed” abortion drugs are, “as we have been warning for years.” “Yet, the FDA has steadily removed important safeguards on these drugs, allowing them to be ordered online and delivered in the mail without a single in-person doctor visit,” Skop said. “Both women suffered failed abortions requiring surgical treatment. Amber died from sepsis, a complication the FDA alerts physicians to watch for in its ‘black box’ warning on mifepristone. Physicians must be aware of this risk and swiftly intervene.” Skop also argued that misinformation is to blame for the women’s deaths, rather than pro-life laws that protect them and their children. “Candi’s family states she did not seek medical care because she was worried about prosecution, but every pro-life state law prohibits prosecution of women for seeking an abortion,” Skop said. “Intentional misinformation by pro-abortion media regarding criminal penalties and claims that abortion drugs are ‘safer than Tylenol’ frighten women so that they do not seek medical care when they suffer complications like severe pain and heavy bleeding.” Neither the White House nor the Harris campaign responded to requests for comment.

House Votes To Increase Trump’s Security Days After 2nd Assassination Attempt

The House of Representatives voted unanimously on Friday to increase security for presidential candidates less than one week after a second assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. The House voted 405-0 to adopt a bill that would standardize security for presidents, vice presidents, and major presidential and vice presidential candidates. The vote comes just days after a man was arrested after the Secret Service said they spotted him lying in wait with an AK-47 outside just a few hundred yards away from where Trump was playing golf. “We as a federal government have a responsibility to ensure the safety and the well-being of these candidates. One of them is going to be president, and the election should be decided by voters at the ballot box — not by an assassin’s bullet,” said bill sponsor Rep. Mike Lawler (R-NY). “And if the argument by the Secret Service is that they don’t have enough resources or they don’t have enough manpower,” he added. “Then that needs to be addressed immediately.” The bill says that the director of the Secret Service “shall apply the same standards for determining the number of agents required to protect Presidents, Vice Presidents, and major Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates.” It also calls for the Secret Service to “conduct a comprehensive review of the provision of protection by the Secret Service for Presidents, Vice Presidents, former Presidents, and major Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates.” The report would be submitted to the House Committee on Homeland Security and the Senate Committee on Homeland Security. Am I Racist? Is In Theaters NOW — Get Your Tickets Here! House Speaker Mike Johnson said previously that there needed to be concrete steps to ensure candidate safety. “We have got to get down to the bottom of this. We got to ensure that this doesn’t happen again,” he said. “If they need additional funding, Congress will supply that. But we’re told it’s a manpower problem.” On Friday, the Secret Service admitted to several key failures during the attempted assassination of Trump on July 13 at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, when he was struck in the ear by a bullet. Secret Service acting Director Ronald Rowe said that there were “communication deficiencies” that allowed the attack to take place, including a reliance on cell phones.

‘Gutfeld!’ Scores Highest Ratings In Program History For Trump Appearance

Fox News’ “Gutfeld!” show scored its highest ratings in the program’s history when former President Donald Trump stopped by this week for the entire show. On Wednesday night, Trump made a guest appearance on the Greg Gutfeld talk show alongside regulars like Kat Timpf and Tyrus, where it averaged 4.9 million total viewers, Fox News reported. In the coveted age demographic of 25-54, the same hour had 744,000 viewers, the outlet noted. It was the program’s largest audience in both the key demo and total viewers since its launch in 2021. Trump’s appearance was not only the largest on “Gutfeld!,” but also the show’s total viewership was the biggest in all of cable and broadcast primetime, beating out ABC’s “The Golden Bachelorette” and CBS’ “Survivor.” RATINGS SMASH: @Gutfeldfox hit a new viewership record Wednesday night as former President Trump took the late-night stage, covering everything from surviving assassination attempts to the presidential debate and more. https://t.co/54yWq6M1GT pic.twitter.com/663ejAuAFa — Fox News (@FoxNews) September 20, 2024 During the hour-long program, Trump reflected on both assassination attempts against him — the one in Butler, Pennsylvania, at his rally in July where he was shot in the ear, leaving one supporter dead and two others injured, as well as on Sunday, when a 58-year-old man hid out for 12 hours near Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida, allegedly to take a shot at him. Am I Racist? Is In Theaters NOW — Get Your Tickets Here! Gutfeld asked the former president about his golf game and Trump joked, “Well, I haven’t been thinking about it too much lately. I always said golf is a very dangerous game.” “Especially if they’re playing with you,” Gutfeld quipped. “Yeah, it’s true,” Trump said. “It’s pretty sad.” “If they had told you that the shooter was there, would you have tried to take him out with your 3 wood?” Gutfeld later asked Trump. “I think so,” Trump responded. “If I knew. Actually, the Secret Service did a great job. They saw the barrel of a gun — big gun — and it came out through bushes. And how many people would see that? He really was exceptional to have done it.” During Trump’s appearance, the president also reacted to clips of celebrities slamming him in a segment titled, “Celebs can’t quit Donald Trump.” In one clip, Gutfeld played radio shock jock Howard Stern, who made news this week when he said that he didn’t hate Trump, just those who vote for the former president. Trump then replied, “Well I watch and know most of them,” noting his long history of being on Stern’s show for a big part of the radio host’s career. “He [Stern] was great at that time, then he went woke.” The former president’s appearance was his first on broadcast or cable late-night during an election cycle since 2016 when he was on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” the outlet noted. Americans Deserve The Truth Following Georgia Mother’s Tragic Death

Here are the facts: Amber Thurman, a woman from Georgia whose pregnancy with twins was too far along to abort in her home state, traveled to North Carolina, where she was given the deadly abortion pills mifepristone and misoprostol. The chemical abortion was incomplete — meaning her children, or parts of them, were still in her womb — and she needed emergency room care but doctors at the hospital in Georgia she turned to for help waited 20 hours to perform a surgical abortion. The young woman, mother of a 6-year-old son, died.  ProPublica broke the story. Donors to the self-described “independent, nonprofit newsroom that produces investigative journalism with moral force” include groups like the Ford Foundation and Pew Charitable Trusts, that regularly support pro-abortion organizations. Here are the headlines that followed that first story: Newsweek: “Amber Thurman First Named ‘Preventable’ Abortion Death Since Bans” New York Times: “It Was Only a Matter of Time Before Abortion Bans Killed Someone” Associated Press: “VP says woman’s death after delayed abortion treatment shows consequences of Trump’s actions” ProPublica has since reported on a second woman who died after taking abortion pills that she bought online. An autopsy performed on Candi Miller found fetal tissue in her womb, and a lethal combination of painkillers in her blood. And yet an unnamed committee of “maternal health experts” — one that does not share its findings with the public — blamed Georgia’s Heartbeat law, and her family reportedly told a coroner she was afraid to go to the hospital because of the law. Vice President Kamala Harris gave a speech Friday in Atlanta, where she jumped on the bandwagon with abortion advocates who are overjoyed to be able to blame mothers’ deaths on laws that protect babies from abortion. Certainly there are questions to be answered in Ms. Thurman’s case, by physicians in both North Carolina and Georgia. But it’s Georgia’s Heartbeat law being blamed for the woman’s death. This is simply not true. Several women in the last decade have died after botched abortions and delayed follow-up medical care. You did not read their names in Newsweek or the New York Times or the Associated Press.  Keisha Atkins was 23 years old when she had an abortion at 24 weeks at Southwestern Women’s Options in Albuquerque in February 2017. Two days into the multi-day procedure, she was in pain and having trouble breathing. More than nine hours after arriving at Southwestern she was finally transferred to the hospital at the University of New Mexico, where, more than five hours later, she was finally taken to the emergency room. One hundred minutes later, she was declared dead. Eventually Southwestern and UNM paid $1.26 million to settle a wrongful death lawsuit. Abortion killed Keisha. Tonya Reaves died in Chicago after an incomplete second-trimester abortion at Planned Parenthood in July 2012. She would have to undergo two more abortion procedures at a hospital before dying. She was 26 years old. Eventually Planned Parenthood was ordered to pay her surviving son $2 million.  Abortion killed Tonya. Cree Erwin-Sheppard was 24 when she had an abortion at a Planned Parenthood in Kalamazoo, Michigan on July 2, 2016. She was dead two days later. Her autopsy showed “retained products of conception.” Abortion killed Cree. There are others whose names you don’t know. Maria Santiago. Alexandra Nunez. Lakisha Wilson. Karnamaya Mongar. And many more than these. These women did not become the media’s cause celebre because their tragic — and preventable — deaths followed abortions, and none dare speak a bad word about a procedure whose advocates have elevated it to the status of national sacrament. All of them died while Roe v. Wade was still intact, and all in states where abortion was easy to access. Until recently, New Mexico was the late-term abortion epicenter of the nation. Illinois and Michigan, then as now, have few restrictions on abortion. Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York all had — and still have — liberal abortion laws. Abortion killed these women, as it killed Amber Thurman and Candi Miller. All of them were women of color so certainly racism could have been a factor in their delayed follow-up care. That’s an issue that needs to be explored. Most importantly, the women’s stories should bring a much-needed look into the safety of chemical abortion. But they won’t. The Charlotte Lozier Institute reported in 2021 that chemical abortion led to many more emergency room visits than surgical abortion, but abortion advocates had that paper retracted because it contradicted their narrative that chemical abortion is a safe and private way for a mother to kill her child surrounded by the comforts of home. The truth about chemical abortion is that it causes severe pain and bleeding for which few women are prepared. It turns women’s homes into abortion facilities, and leaves many of them with the unforgettable image of their babies being flushed down the toilet. Chemical abortion killed Amber Thurman and Candi Miller, and other women before then. Women and their children deserve better than abortion, and the American people deserve the truth. * * * Janet Morana is the executive director of Priests for Life and the co-founder of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign.
