The Trump campaign is looking into reports of rallygoers in Tucson, Arizona, experiencing a mysterious illness and what appear to be chemical burns after attending former President Donald Trump’s campaign event last week. Around 20 people who were sitting on stage near where Trump entered the Linda Ronstadt Music Hall on September 12 said that in the hours after the rally, they became sick, the Arizona Globe reported. Most of those who reported a mystery illness were a part of the “Latinos for Trump” group. Symptoms included swelling in the face, blurred vision, and burning eyes. NBC 4 Tucson reported that 48 people were allowed to sit on the stage behind Trump as he spoke, and it appeared that the only people who reported experiencing severe symptoms were sitting on Trump’s right. Trump’s Tucson rally took place just three days before the Secret Service fired on a gunman who appeared to be sitting in wait to take shots at the former president at his golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. A local pastor, Eli Moreno, and his wife, Francesca, said they were both affected by the illness. Pastor Moreno had opened the rally in prayer before he joined his wife and others who were seated on stage. Francesca said her nose started running, her face swelled, and her vision became blurry as they were driving home from the Trump rally. The couple reportedly stopped at a Walgreens store to find something to ease Francesca’s discomfort and met another person with similar symptoms who had attended the rally. Another Trump supporter, Mayra Rodriguez — a former Planned Parenthood employee and Hillary Clinton supporter — said she went to the emergency room after experiencing burning eyes and an intense headache and couldn’t even open her eyes after making it to the hospital. Your symptoms look like you were sprayed by something.'” Rodrigeuz told NBC 4 in an interview the morning after the Trump rally that she “can’t see anything,” adding that “it hurts a lot to open my eyes.” Rogriguez also said she told the Trump campaign about her symptoms and was informed that the campaign is looking into it. “The Trump campaign has been collecting information. We remain committed to the countless patriots that attend our high-energy, high-impact rallies across the country,” Senior Trump Campaign Adviser Danielle Alvarez said. A Democrat donor was arrested this week for allegedly threatening to murder six U.S. Supreme Court Justices and some of their family members. The U.S. Department of Justice announced Thursday that 76-year-old Panos Anastasiou sent more than 465 messages to the Supreme Court through a public website run by the court. The messages — sent from March 10, 2023, through July 16, 2024 — “escalated to messages intending to threaten harm toward the victims,” the DOJ said. “The messages contained violent, racist, and homophobic rhetoric coupled with threats of assassination by torture, hanging, and firearms.” Court documents said the threats were “intended to intimidate Supreme Court Justices 1-6 and retaliate against them for official actions Supreme Court Justices 1-6 had taken in their official capacity as federal judges.” Am I Racist? Prosecutors did not name the justices who were the targets of the threats, but it is worth noting that of the nine justices on the Supreme Court, six are conservative judges. Prosecutors charged Anastasiou with nine counts of making threats against federal judges and 13 counts of making threats via interstate commerce. If convicted on all counts, Anastasiou faces up to 155 years in prison — 10 years per count for threatening judges and five years per count for making threats via interstate commerce. “We allege that the defendant made repeated, heinous threats to murder and torture Supreme Court Justices and their families to retaliate against them for decisions he disagreed with,” said Attorney General Merrick Garland. “Our justice system depends on the ability of judges to make their decisions based on the law, and not on fear. Our democracy depends on the ability of public officials to do their jobs without fearing for their lives or the safety of their families.” According to Federal Election Commission (FEC) records, Anastasiou had donated 82 times to various left-wing causes and Democrat candidates dozens of times on the Democrats’ fundraising platform ActBlue. On Wednesday, most House Democrats voted against legislation that seeks to ensure that illegal immigrants who commit sex crimes and domestic violence can be deported from the United States. The bill, called the “Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act,” passed with the support of 215 Republicans and 51 Democrats. Another 158 Democrats and no Republicans voted against it. Seven other lawmakers did not vote. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC), who introduced the legislation earlier this year, said on X that “158 Left-wing members of Congress just voted against deporting rapists, pedophiles and murderers of women and kids.” The bill states that it would “amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to provide that aliens who have been convicted of or who have committed sex offenses or domestic violence are inadmissible and deportable.” It also contains provisions that apply to crimes of stalking, child abuse, child neglect, child abandonment, or violating the portion of a protection order “against credible threats of violence, repeated harassment, or bodily injury.” Rep. Jerry Nadler (D-NY), the top Democrat on the Judiciary Committee, claimed the bill has “redundancies” that “all but ensure that no additional dangerous individuals would face immigration consequences if it were to become law.” Am I Racist? Pramila Jayapal (D-WA), bemoaned how lawmakers were “debating another partisan bill that fear mongers about immigrants instead of working together to fix the immigration system.” But, according to Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA), the bill “removes any loopholes in current law and requires that illegal aliens who commit sex offenses or domestic violence are not to be allowed into this country anymore and must be immediately removed from our country when they’re found.” And, citing a specific area of concern, Mace said Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas argued in a September 2021 memo that “domestic violence shouldn’t be categorical grounds to apprehend and remove an illegal alien.” The bill now heads to the Democrat-controlled Senate, where it may or may not be taken up for consideration.
