Anti-Semitism doesn’t belong in the workplace. But in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), a group of Jewish teachers are forced to fund the anti-Semitic habits of their workplace representative, the United Teachers of Los Angeles (UTLA). Beginning in 2020, UTLA’s support for anti-Semitic and anti-Israel sentiments in and outside of the classroom raised red flags among Jewish educators. During “Teach Palestine” gatherings, for example, the union offered members curriculum to help “educators bring Palestine into their classrooms.” A project of the Middle East Children’s Alliance, similar union-sponsored strategizing sessions across the state of California represent “a coordinated effort to brainwash children.” One union official made use of this curriculum in the classroom, likening life in Gaza to imprisonment in Holocaust concentration camps. Outside of the classroom, anti-Semitism began to permeate union ideology. During a 2021 UTLA meeting regarding ethnic studies, union President Cecily Myart-Cruz dubbed the Museum of Tolerance, a Holocaust museum, the “enemy,” while another speaker’s profanity-riddled remarks attacked Israel directly. And, despite its name, UTLA’s standing “Human Rights Committee” continues to spew similar anti-Jewish rhetoric to this effect. UTLA’s flirtation with anti-Semitism quickly devolved into outright discrimination against Jewish teachers. As members challenged UTLA’s ideology, union officers began to forcibly remove teachers questioning the anti-Semitic status-quo from Facebook forums and in-person meetings. During Zoom meetings, teachers were booted for displaying backgrounds with nonpolitical Jewish imagery, while other members and guests were encouraged to display politically charged backdrops, so long as they were the right kind of politics. The last straw for many Jewish teachers represented by UTLA, however, followed the horrific terrorist attacks in Israel on October 7, 2023. Instead of issuing a statement of solidarity following the massacres, UTLA remained silent, speaking up only to label Israel an “apartheid state” and “occupier.” Further, UTLA’s Executive Board permitted multiple re-introductions of a motion criticizing Israel while advocating for protection of the Hamas attackers without concern for the victims and hostages lost on October 7th. Doubling down again on its anti-Semitic tendencies, UTLA endorsed Kahllid Al-Alim for election to the LAUSD school board. Al-Alim’s social media accounts, fraught with vulgar anti-Semitic rhetoric, featured blood-libel and conspiracy theories, including blanket accusations against the Jewish people for “collaborating with and even financing such racial terrorists as the Ku Klux Klan.” After intense backlash, UTLA pulled support for Al-Alim after contributing more than $700,000 worth of membership dues towards his campaign. AFSCME (2018), public employees cannot be forced to pay union dues, especially those that support a hateful political ideology like UTLA’s. Regardless, the requests of eight Jewish teachers to cancel UTLA membership and fees were ignored. Left with no option to defend themselves from a union hostile to their identity and value system, several Jewish members reached out to the Freedom Foundation, a government union watchdog that provides pro-bono legal assistance to those held hostage within dues-paying membership. “The Employees no longer wish to support UTLA as members, or financially through deductions from their lawfully earned wages,” our demand letter read. “Hence, they are withdrawing affirmative consent to affiliation with UTLA and demand that UTLA immediately release them from membership and further dues deductions.” Despite its promise to “uphold educators’ rights,” UTLA disregarded its members’ demands, ignored the letter, and sent a lawyer to inform teachers of their inability to cancel dues payments. The Freedom Foundation’s effort to liberate LAUSD’s marginalized Jewish teachers doesn’t end here. The union’s resounding commitment to anti-Semitism at the expense of its members begs the question of whether UTLA is capable of responsibly representing educators at all. During a recent appearance on CNN, GOP pundit Scott Jennings got anchor Abby Phillip to admit that Vice President Kamala Harris has repeatedly mischaracterized and lied about a comment made months ago by former President Donald Trump. Trump had been talking about the potential economic impact — particularly with regard to the automobile industry — of a second term under President Joe Biden, when he warned that there would be “a bloodbath” if he lost. Despite the fact that he was clearly referring to the loss of American jobs and income, the Biden-Harris administration — along with dozens of others in the media — immediately claimed that he was calling for political violence, a literal “bloodbath,” if he lost the 2024 election. In the wake of a second assassination attempt on Trump, Jennings argued that it was past time to call out those who were still perpetuating lies about that statement. Phillip tried to interrupt, saying that she’d like to clear things up for everyone: “You’re referring to Trump’s use of the word ‘bloodbath’ when he was talking —” “And what was he talking about?” Jennings asked, interrupting. “I’m going to explain it to people, because I think there’s confusion about this,” Phillip continued. “The use of the word ‘bloodbath’ when he was talking about, you know, vehicle manufacturing jobs in the United States. Vice President Harris improperly and unfairly mischaracterized that as him saying there would be a bloodbath if she were elected. However, she did not say that if Trump were elected there would be a bloodbath, she did not say that.” Jennings pressed the point further, saying, “I know you have interviewed and have had people out here and have watched the same coverage I have. The ‘bloodbath’ garbage is an – it is a pillar of the Democratic campaign against Trump, as is ‘dictator,’ as is ‘eliminate the U.S. Constitution.'”

Over the past few days, media outlets, including The New York Times, Newsweek, and MSNBC, have all cited a claim that a woman died because of strict pro-life laws. Amber Thurman, these outlets reported, citing an article from ProPublica, would have survived if not for Georgia’s laws on abortion. The truth, however, has nothing to do with Georgia’s abortion laws and everything to do with taking dangerous abortion pills without any follow-up care. Thurman made the tragic decision to end the lives of her unborn twins by legally obtaining abortion pills in North Carolina. She took the pills and returned home to Georgia, where, five days after taking the pills, she faced a serious complication. ProPublica doesn’t say whether she received any follow-up care from the place that provided her the pills in North Carolina or whether they ever called to check up on her after handing her the pills. Though abortion groups claim that abortion pills are safe and effective, pro-life medical professionals and legal scholars point to instances of serious medical complications, such as the one Thurman faced. Some of the remains from her aborted babies remained in her uterus and were causing her to develop an infection. When she went to a hospital in her home state of Georgia, it took doctors several days to perform a D&C, or dilation and curettage, the medical procedure to remove the remains from her uterus. There is no evidence at all that Georgia’s abortion laws played any role in the delay of this care, as ProPublica admits in paragraph 57. “It is not clear from the records available why doctors waited to provide a D&C,” the outlet reported near the end of its story. The outlet blamed Georgia’s abortion law that prevents an abortion after a fetal heartbeat is detected. In Thurman’s case, there was no fetal heartbeat since the twins were already dead, thus the law wouldn’t have delayed care. Am I Racist? Is In Theaters NOW — Get Your Tickets Here! Georgia’s law defines “abortion” as an act that “will, with reasonable likelihood, cause the death of an unborn child.” Again, Thurman’s twins were already dead, so there is nothing in the law that would prevent Georgia from providing a D&C. Instead, ProPublica spoke to unrelated OB-GYNs to speculate about alleged ambiguities in the law that could have made it responsible for Thurman’s death. Thurman was treated when she went to the hospital in Georgia, as Life News reported. She was put on antibiotics and an IV drip, and the OB-GYN suggested a D&C for the next day, but the procedure wasn’t performed at that time. The next day, the doctors continued her IV fluid, increased her antibiotics, and gave her blood pressure medication, as well as tested her for pneumonia and STDs. They also kept talking about the D&C without performing it. By the time they finally did begin the procedure, Thurman needed a hysterectomy, and doctors found blood in her bowels, which could have been a side effect of the blood pressure medication they had put her on. Thurman died during the operation, and her death was preventable if she had obtained the D&C earlier, but there is no reason given for why this procedure was delayed – and there is no evidence it was because of Georgia’s abortion laws. It’s not the first time since Roe v. Wade was overturned that the media falsely claimed new restrictions on abortion hampered emergency care, as The Daily Wire’s Mairead Elordi previously reported. NewsNation host Chris Cuomo immediately contradicted his Democrat guest during a recent interview, calling him out for claiming that former President Donald Trump was the “only one perpetuating violence” when it came to political rhetoric. Cuomo spoke with MSNBC contributor Brian Tyler Cohen about the fact that there have now been two assassination attempts on the former president — the most recent foiled by U.S. Secret Service agents just this past Sunday — and the Trump campaign has called on Democrats, in particular, to tone down the rhetoric that could potentially incite violent actions. Cuomo began the conversation by asking why Democrats had gotten so mad at him for suggesting they should take steps to lower the temperature. A prominent conservative organization founded by former Vice President Mike Pence has denounced recent media claims that a Georgia woman died due to her state’s abortion restrictions. Advancing American Freedom, which was founded by Pence, has released a fact sheet, provided exclusively to The Daily Wire, debunking the claim that Georgia woman Amber Thurman died because of Georgia’s strict abortion laws. “Pro-Abortion activists and the pro-abortion media are seizing on the tragic death of Amber Thurman, a Georgia woman, following preventable complications from the abortion pill, mifepristone,” the group says in the press release. “Here’s the truth: All pro-life state laws allow doctors to exercise their medical judgment to treat women with pregnancy emergencies. No law requires ‘imminence’ or ‘certainty’ before a doctor can act to save the patient’s life.” The organization goes on to note that Thurman died due to complications from “a legal chemical abortion,” as The Daily Wire reported earlier. In fact, the organization said, “disinformation” killed Thurman, citing a study from Finland that found 20% of women who took mifepristone-induced abortions had complications. Mifepristone is the name for one of the chemical abortion drugs. “According to Medicaid data, Mifepristone’s complication rate was approximately 100x higher than reported in data volunteered by Planned Parenthood clinics and 273x the AE complication rate reported to the FDA,” AAF added. It wasn’t Georgia’s pro-life laws that caused Thurman’s death, AAF said, writing that “Georgia’s pro-life state law allowed for Thurman to receive the care she needed, ‘necessary in order to prevent the death of the pregnant woman or the substantial and irreversible physical impairment of a major bodily function.’” Am I Racist? The press release is in response to media reports citing a ProPublica article that never provided evidence that the delay in Thurman’s care was due to Georgia’s abortion laws, as The Daily Wire previously reported. ProPublica admits this fact in paragraph 57 of the article, writing, “It is not clear from the records available why doctors waited to provide a D&C,” referring to a dilation and curettage, the medical procedure to remove the remains from Thurman’s uterus that were left after she took the abortion pill. “Every death is a tragedy,” the statement from AAF concluded. “The Pro-Life Movement cannot allow the tragic death of Amber Thurman to be weaponized against life and used as a cudgel to remove any protections for women and their babies. Pro-Life leaders must make sure the American People know the truth about this tragic situation.”

Former President Donald Trump is expected to attend the Alabama vs. Georgia game at Bryant-Denny Stadium in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on September 28. A person with knowledge of Trump’s campaign plans told the Tuscaloosa News earlier this week that the former president plans to attend. The game, which features the two biggest SEC powerhouses currently ranked among the top four teams in the country, will take place under the lights beginning at 6:30 p.m. CT on ABC. This will be the second Alabama-Georgia game for Trump after he attended the 2018 national championship matchup between the two teams while he was the sitting president. It will also be Trump’s second time attending a game at the historic Bryant-Denny Stadium. He was in attendance in Tuscaloosa for the 2019 game between the Crimson Tide and the LSU Tigers, which marked the first time a sitting president had attended an Alabama home football game, according to Tuscaloosa News.
