Tito Jackson and his best friend Terry Harvey Maltbia were in Gallup, New Mexico, and on their way to Tito’s Oklahoma ranch when he began complaining about chest pain and telling his friends that “he couldn’t breathe” and “wasn’t feeling good.” The duo had set out on a road trip alongside their other friend, Ronald Balfour, and they made a stop at the American Heritage Plaza shopping center when the incident occurred. Their journey was interrupted by the emergency, which led to Tito being rushed to a local hospital. Harvey recalled their last nice time together, filling up on turkey and chicken with the intention of continuing their long drive to Oklahoma in the rain.
