DeSantis Questions Propriety of Federal Agencies Probing Assassination Bid on Trump While Prosecuting Him

Having the same federal agencies prosecuting former President Donald Trump investigating Sunday’s assassination attempt on him “may not be the best thing,” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said at a Monday press conference. BREAKING: DeSantis says that the same agencies prosecuting Trump investigating the assassination attempt "may not be the best thing," vows a "credible" truth after state-run investigation pic.twitter.com/jdZNy5Xsc7— Florida’s Voice (@FLVoiceNews) September 16, 2024 Trump is being prosecuted in federal court in Fort Pierce, Florida, a little more than an hour northwest of the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, where the second assassination attempt occurred on Sunday. In July, U.S. District Court Judge Aileen Cannon dismissed the classified documents case on the grounds that the appointment of special counsel Jack Smith was unconstitutional. Smith subsequently secured a superseding indictment against the 45th president on four felony charges in his Washington, D.C., election interference case.  “I look at the federal government, with all due respect to them, those same agencies that are prosecuting Trump in that jurisdiction are now going to be investigating this,” DeSantis said of the Sunday incident on Monday morning in Orlando, Florida. “I just think that that may not be the best thing for this country. Nevertheless, they have their prerogative. But we have our prerogative. So, we’ll be making an announcement further along those lines in the ensuing days.” The Florida Republican announced a state-level investigation shortly after the assassination attempt Sunday. “We do believe there were multiple violations of state law,” DeSantis said. “We also believe that there’s a need to make sure that the truth about all this comes out in a way that is credible.” The State of Florida will be conducting its own investigation regarding the attempted assassination at Trump International Golf Club. The people deserve the truth about the would be assassin and how he was able to get within 500 yards of the former president and current GOP…— Ron DeSantis (@GovRonDeSantis) September 16, 2024 Trump was golfing in West Palm Beach, Florida, when the Secret Service spotted a gun sticking through a fence along the perimeter of the golf course and scared off the gunman. “The FBI has responded to West Palm Beach, Florida, and is investigating what appears to be an attempted assassination of former President Trump,” the FBI said in a statement Sunday afternoon. The New York Post, citing unnamed law enforcement sources, said the alleged gunman is Ryan Wesley Routh, who was taken into custody. “Routh, who has a lengthy criminal record from North Carolina, frequently posted about politics and exclusively donated to Democratic candidates and causes dating back to 2019. He also bashed Trump in an April 22 post on X, in which he declared, ‘DEMOCRACY is on the ballot, and we cannot lose,’” the Post reported. Katrina Trinko contributed to this report. CNN Decries Trump Calling out Democratic Rhetoric for Attempts on His Life

For years now, the liberal media and the Democratic Party have been engaging in stochastic terrorism against former President Trump through claims that he’s literally Hitler, a “threat to Democracy,” etc. They’ve even blamed his rhetoric for certain things happening in America, but when Trump blamed the rhetoric coming from the White House and the Democratic ticket, on Monday, for the two assassination attempts, the cast of CNN News Central clutched their pearls and decried the notion. In an interview with Fox News, Trump blamed the dangerous rhetoric coming from the left for the attempts on his life. Leading into their conversation about it, after CNN had spent much of the day blaming Trump for bomb threats in Springfield, Ohio, CNN co-hosts Boris Sanchez and Brianna Keilar whined about Trump and teed up former Trump communications staffer Erin Perrine to suggest the dangerous rhetoric was actually coming from Trump calling out the left: SANCHEZ: Today, former President Donald Trump is pointing the finger at President Biden and Vice President Harris, blaming them for the apparent assassination attempt against him. KEILAR: In his first interview since the incident, Trump told Fox News that, quote, “Their rhetoric is causing me to be shot at,” before adding, “they are the real threat.” We're joined now by Erin Perrine. She is a former press communications director for Donald Trump's 2020 campaign and a Republican strategist for Axiom Strategies. We're also joined by Tim Hogan. He is a Democratic strategist and former spokesperson for Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign. I wonder Erin, you're hearing what Trump is saying here. What questions, concerns is this raising for you?     Ignoring the fact that crazy people would indeed hold and be motivated by insane political views that would drive them to violence, Perrine proclaimed: “I think ultimately everybody needs to remember that crazy doesn't know a political party or ideology.” Perrine insisted that “everybody needs to accept a little bit of culpability and responsibility for what becomes inflamed rhetoric in this country.” “But to be clear, this isn't a Republican or Democrat issue, this is an American issue and we should be treating it like that,” she added. To be clear, only the Republican presidential candidate has had attempts on his life. According to Perrine, it wasn’t the left who should tone down the rhetoric, it was Trump: For President Trump right now, I think his best course of action would be to be a bit more like he was –this is really hard to believe I'm saying – after his first assassination attempt, were he was much more unifying. If people want to try and make this political, let other people do that, be the leader of the country needs at a time where this rhetoric has led to two attempts to kill Donald Trump. In the following hour, CNN’s Eva McKend joined the show to wave-off Trump’s accusations. She admitted that Dems "have long waged a very forceful case against" Trump, but insisted "There's, of course, no evidence" that their rhetoric was to blame for the two assassination attempts against him.   CNN's Eva McKend admits that Dems "have long waged a very forceful case against" Trump but claims "There's, of course, no evidence" that their rhetoric is to blame for the 2 assassination attempts against him. She predicted they will "continue" to call him "a threat to democracy" pic.twitter.com/cE5ukXLBat — Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) September 16, 2024   Yet, McKend predicted the left will "continue" to call him "a threat to democracy." As for CNN’s repeated suggestions that Trump’s rhetoric at the debate lead to the bomb threats, that turned out to be false too. Ohio Republican Governor Mike DeWine held a press conference on Monday and explained that the threats came from outside the United States and they were all hoaxes. “33 threats, 33 hoax,” he said. “We have people, unfortunately, overseas who are taking these actions.” Meanwhile, Trump’s second wannabe assassin posted on social media using the liberal media and Democrat’s “democracy is on the ballot” narrative against Trump. ERIN PERRINE: I think ultimately everybody needs to remember that crazy doesn't know a political party or ideology. There is extreme rhetoric on both sides of the political spectrum and everybody needs to accept a little bit of culpability and responsibility for what becomes inflamed rhetoric in this country. But to be clear, this isn't a Republican or Democrat issue, this is an American issue and we should be treating it like that. For President Trump right now, I think his best course of action would be to be a bit more like he was –this is really hard to believe I'm saying – after his first assassination attempt, were he was much more unifying. If people want to try and make this political, let other people do that, be the leader of the country needs at a time where this rhetoric has led to two attempts to kill Donald Trump. Everybody needs to take cooler heads. The world will not end, this country will not end and cease to exist as a democracy if Kamala Harris wins, or if Donald Trump wins. SANCHEZ: Tim to you, President Biden addressed this at an event in Philadelphia earlier today, he talked about there being no place for political violence in America, saying, “we resolve our differences peacefully at the ballot box, not at the end of a gun.” (…)

Harris Donor’s TIME Magazine Hides Inconvenient Fact After Second Apparent Trump Assassination Attempt

Time magazine came under fire after claiming on social media that the man behind an apparent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump had an “unclear political ideology,” leaving many in the dark about the apparent violence targeting Trump.  Time concealed Ryan Routh’s political leanings, writing Monday on X, “The suspect arrested in relation to the shooting at Trump’s golf course in Florida on Sunday has been identified as Ryan Routh—a 58-year-old with unclear political ideology, a criminal record, and a history of praising Iran and supporting Ukraine.”  The baffling tweet neglects to highlight the fact that Routh voted in a 2024 Democratic primary and has a recent history of donations to ActBlue—facts that Time itself admitted deep within the article the post links to. But why did Time make no mention of these crucially important details? Is it because such assertions might tie the left to a violent act? Time is owned by Marc Benioff, the CEO of software company Salesforce and one of Vice President Kamala Harris’s biggest supporters. Benioff, by Time’s own admissions, donated to Harris’s 2019 failed Democratic presidential bid.  Previously, Benioff had also donated to the “Kamala Harris Victory Fund,” while making two donations to Harris’s Senate campaign. In total, Beinoff has given at least $18,100 to support the current Democratic nominee in her earlier campaigns according to the Federal Elections Commission. Recently, Time magazine had to issue a correction after incorrectly fact-checking a Trump statement about Harris’s documented support for taxpayer-funded gender transitions for detained illegal aliens. In their Monday article, Time took until the 13th paragraph to admit that Routh voted in the March Democracy primary of North Carolina in 2024. In the 14th paragraph Time admitted that Routh had donated ActBlue, “the Democratic fundraising platform, between September 2019 and March 2020.”  According to MRC Vice President for Research and Publications Brent Baker, there are significant consequences to placing facts later in a story. In his 1994 book How to Identify, Expose, & Correct Liberal Media Bias, Baker wrote, “[M]ost people ready only the headline. Some read just the first paragraph, some just the first two paragraphs and some read just to the bottom of the column and don’t bother to read the continuation. Very few people read the average story all the way through to the end.”  But Time didn’t just show possible "bias by placement" by burying these facts in the 13th and 14th paragraphs. Time set social media users who didn’t finish the article up to believe that Routh had an “unclear political ideology.” Imagine how many X users read the post without even clicking. On the other hand, Time took a beating on social media for the post. The Daily Wire host Matt Walsh, Libs of TikTok creator Chaya Raichik and The Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon sarcastically lambasted Time for playing dumb about whether or not a man arrested for allegedly trying to kill Trump supports Trump or Harris. Others alleged that Routh literally had a Biden-Harris sticker on his truck.  Former collegiate swimmer-turned-women's rights advocate Riley Gaines also called out Time for using the words “unclear political ideology,” writing: “He's donated to ActBlue 19 times, has a Biden/Harris sticker on his truck, & vehemently hates Trump. His political ideology couldn't be more clear.” Conservatives are under attack. Contact Time at (letters@time.com)and The New Yorker at (800) 444-7570 and demand the publication stop coddling Vice President Kamala Harris.
