Plant Linked To Listeria Outbreak To “Indefinitely Close”

Boar’s Head announced it will shut down a Virginia deli meat plant linked to a multi-state listeria outbreak. The company will also permanently discontinue its liverwurst product. “We regret and deeply apologize for the recent Listeria monocytogenes contamination in our liverwurst product. We understand the gravity of this situation and the profound impact it has had on affected families. Comprehensive measures are being implemented to prevent such an incident from ever happening again,” Boar’s Head said in a statement. “First and foremost, our investigation has identified the root cause of the contamination as a specific production process that only existed at the Jarratt facility and was used only for liverwurst. With this discovery, we have decided to permanently discontinue liverwurst,” it continued. “Given the seriousness of the outbreak, and the fact that it originated at Jarratt, we have made the difficult decision to indefinitely close this location, which has not been operational since late July 2024. It pains us to impact the livelihoods of hundreds of hard-working employees. We do not take lightly our responsibility as one of the area’s largest employers. But, under these circumstances, we feel that a plant closure is the most prudent course. We will work to assist each of our employees in the transition process,” it added. The CDC says 57 people have been hospitalized and nine have died in 18 states. pic.twitter.com/PjvJgCAHVb — Sarah Fields (@SarahisCensored) September 13, 2024 Per NBC News: This year’s listeria outbreak killed nine and hospitalized 57. Boar’s Head recalled its Strassburger Brand Liverwurst on July 25 over concerns it contained the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes. The CDC said the company was responsible for the largest listeriosis outbreak since 2011, when more than 30 people died from affected cantaloupe. The recall was expanded to include 7 million pounds of meat, which the company said was every item produced at the facility. The U.S. Department of Agriculture on July 31 gave the Jarratt facility a notice of suspension. “Documents obtained by @CBSNews reveal that federal inspectors flagged numerous violations at the Virginia Boar’s Head facility linked to the deadly recall of deli meats. The outbreak has led to at least nine deaths and sickened dozens,” CBS Evening News said last month. Boar’s Head acknowledged the violations in its release and said “we will not make any excuses.” The investigations have “left no stone unturned at Jarratt,” the company said. The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service said it had been investigating the listeria outbreak and conditions at its establishments nationwide. The agency said it was looking to see if there were any lessons learned that could be broadly applied to ready-to-eat meat and poultry facilities across the country. Boar’s Head said it will immediately implement several quality measures to prevent future incidents. The company said it will appoint a new chief food safety and quality assurance officer, creating food safety and quality assurance programs, and establish a Boar’s Head Food Safety Council comprised of independent industry safety experts. Brazil Seizes Over $3 Million From Elon Musk-Owned Companies

Brazil seized 18.35 million reais ($3.3 million) from the bank accounts of Elon Musk’s X and Starlink to pay for ‘fines’ imposed by the country’s Supreme Court. “The court ordered the transfer of funds on Wednesday and the accounts have since been unfrozen, according to a statement from the judicial body released Friday,” Bloomberg reports. Justice Alexandre de Moraes ordered the platform formerly known as Twitter be banned last month and blocked Starlink’s accounts in a bid to force the US technology impresario’s company to pay the penalties imposed for ignoring a previous order. “The blocking of the accounts occurred because the justice considered the joint liability between X Brasil Internet Ltda., Starlink Brazil Holding Ltda. and Starlink Brazil Internet Services Ltda. for payment of fines,” the court said Friday. “X remains banned in Brazil as it has yet to comply with orders from Moraes to block certain user accounts and to appoint a legal representative in the country,” Bloomberg noted. De Moraes made the decision on Wednesday, Brazil’s Supreme Court said. His ruling on the case is yet to be made public. Brazil’s Supreme Court also said that the banks that hold accounts of the two companies were informed on Thursday they had complied with the decision. “After the payment of the full amount that was owed, the justice (de Moraes) considered there was no need to keep the bank accounts frozen and ordered the immediate unfreezing of bank accounts/financial assets,” the Brazilian Supreme Court said.

Bomb blast in southwest Pakistan kills two police officers

ISLAMABAD — A bomb explosion in Pakistan’s violence-hit southwestern Baluchistan province ripped through a police vehicle Saturday, killing at least two officers and wounding as many others. Abdul Hameed, an area police officer, told VOA by phone that the attack occurred on a main highway passing through Kuchlak near the provincial capital of Quetta. He said that a homemade bomb targeted a police mobile unit and that an investigation into the incident was underway. There were no immediate claims of responsibility for the deadly bombing in the natural resources-rich Pakistani province, where separatist ethnic Baluch groups routinely target security forces. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned Saturday’s attack on the police as a terrorist act, his office said in a statement in Islamabad. A daylong series of insurgent attacks rattled Baluchistan last month, killing more than 50 civilians and security personnel. The outlawed Baluch Liberation Army, the largest of all the separatist groups active in the province, claimed responsibility for orchestrating the violence, which targeted security installations and passenger vehicles. The BLA, designated as a global terrorist group by the United States, has lately intensified its attacks in Baluchistan. The province shares Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan and Iran and hosts major China-funded infrastructure projects.

A Song to Help the Clark County SPCA

By over-emphasizing a less important, questionable issue, the right has been distracted from the key issues of mass migration – financial drains, crime, culture deterioration, dilution of citizen’s votes, and potential terrorism. So, okay, having said that and knowing this issue needs to go on a back burner, this next clip is funny. Goldman Sachs CEO Accuses Kamala Harris of Misrepresenting Economic Data

Goldman Sachs CEO Accuses Kamala Harris of Misrepresenting Economic Data

Goldman Sachs CEO David Solomon has come forward to criticize Vice President Kamala Harris for allegedly misrepresenting data during a recent debate, sparking new controversy over the handling of economic policies. The clash arose when Harris cited a report that she claimed showed her policies would result in a greater economic boost compared to those of former President Donald Trump. However, Solomon swiftly pushed back on her claims, accusing Harris of inflating the findings to serve her political agenda. During an appearance on CNBC’s Halftime Report, Solomon clarified that the report referenced by Harris was not produced by Goldman Sachs, but by an independent analyst. He stated that the report examined the economic impact of various policy proposals but only showed a negligible difference of about 0.2% in projected GDP growth between Harris’s and Trump’s plans. "A lot more has been made of this than should be," Solomon remarked, underscoring that Harris’s use of the report was exaggerated and distorted the true findings. Kamala repeats the lie that Goldman Sachs gave her economic plan their approval. The CEO of Goldman Sachs came out this morning and DEBUNKED this. pic.twitter.com/zCgCY8HkCA — Trump War Room (@TrumpWarRoom) September 12, 2024 Solomon’s economists have also noted that while Harris's proposals might offer a slight boost to the economy, the impact is far from significant. On the other hand, they warned that some of Trump’s plans, particularly around tariffs and stricter immigration policies, could potentially hinder economic growth. Despite this, the CEO stressed that neither set of policies, if enacted, would result in dramatic shifts to the nation's economy. Critics have jumped on the issue, with conservative voices amplifying Solomon's criticism of Harris. Some, like Hoover Institution senior fellow Victor Davis Hanson, argue that financial elites like those at Goldman Sachs are out of touch with the middle class, accusing them of supporting economic policies that benefit the wealthy at the expense of everyday Americans. Hanson likened this situation to past historical moments when elites were insulated from the negative effects of their political choices. Kamala Harris just said Goldman Sachs backs her economic plan over President Trump’s. Goldman’a CEO said this morning that Kamala is lying when she says his company endorses her plan. pic.twitter.com/l0LnmQdJ2s — Paul A. Szypula (@Bubblebathgirl) September 12, 2024 The debate over economic policy is set to play a crucial role in the upcoming 2024 election, with Harris and Trump both vying to showcase their economic credentials. Harris, during the debate, focused heavily on middle-class tax relief, touting a proposed $6,000 tax cut for families. Meanwhile, Trump emphasized his past achievements, claiming his administration created "the greatest economy" in U.S. history and promising a return to that success if re-elected. The controversy comes amid growing concern over the U.S. economy, which is recovering from a pandemic but still facing inflation, supply chain issues, and a national debt that many feel is spiraling out of control. Solomon himself hinted that one of the biggest failures of the debate was the lack of attention given to the national debt, which he believes is a critical issue that both parties will need to address. This latest dispute adds to the mounting challenges Harris faces in her bid for the presidency, particularly when it comes to convincing voters of her economic vision. Conservative pundits have been quick to highlight this incident as another example of what they see as the vice president's pattern of misrepresentation, with figures like Elon Musk even joining the fray, accusing Harris of spreading misinformation. As the race heats up, the economic policies of both candidates will likely be scrutinized even further. But for now, Goldman Sachs’ CEO has made it clear that Harris’s claims during the debate were, at best, a misinterpretation and, at worst, a deliberate attempt to sway public opinion by overstating the impact of her policies. . Kamala Harris Faces More Polling Troubles in Michigan

Kamala Harris Faces More Polling Troubles in Michigan

Vice President Kamala Harris is facing yet another setback in her 2024 campaign, this time in the critical swing state of Michigan. According to a recent Insider poll, Harris is trailing former President Donald Trump by a narrow margin, with Trump holding 49% of the vote compared to Harris’s 48%. Although this is a slim difference, it underscores the uphill battle Harris faces as Election Day draws nearer. Michigan has been considered one of Harris’s stronger states among key battlegrounds. However, the latest poll results suggest a much closer race than anticipated, raising concerns among Democratic strategists. Harris, who took over as the Democratic presidential nominee following President Joe Biden's decision not to seek re-election, has seen her polling advantage in swing states dwindle, putting her campaign on shaky ground. CNN: Kamala Harris is the worst polling Democrat against Donald Trump in history on national polls. No one is performing worse than her. pic.twitter.com/Ak4whG7Ccy — Insurrection Barbie (@DefiyantlyFree) September 13, 2024 While Harris doesn't necessarily need Michigan to win the election, her narrow lead in other battleground states like Wisconsin and Arizona means that Michigan could play a pivotal role in determining the overall outcome. Trump, on the other hand, does not require Michigan for a path to victory but has shown impressive strength there. In 2020, Biden won Michigan by a 2.8% margin, but this year’s tight polling could signal a significant shift back toward Trump. Harris's campaign has focused on key issues such as economic recovery and healthcare, yet her messaging has struggled to resonate with independent voters and key demographics like white, non-college-educated voters, a group that has significantly favored Trump. Meanwhile, Trump continues to harness his base with a message centered around change, economic reform, and his America First agenda, which remains highly popular among working-class voters. No surprise here, Trump is dominating the polls, we all know Kamala's campaign is fake media hype, this will be one of the biggest landslides in presidential history, Trump should be retired and living a billionaires life, but just like Neo in the matrix, he fights for us pic.twitter.com/AfhWv6od5v — BadGhost (@BadGhostTv) September 5, 2024 Major polling analysts have noted the troubling trends for Harris. A combination of a diminished post-convention bump and the erosion of her support in crucial states like Michigan and Pennsylvania could jeopardize her chances of winning the Electoral College. In fact, Trafalgar and other polling firms have shown Trump pulling ahead in several key swing states, including Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Arizona. With Trump's growing lead in these battlegrounds, Harris may find it increasingly difficult to cobble together enough electoral votes. Michigan Democrats have also expressed concern over the tight race. In places like Dearborn, where the Arab American population is significant, local voters are reportedly divided over Harris’s foreign policy positions, particularly on the ongoing conflict in Gaza. Many in this community have family ties to the region, and Trump’s non-interventionist stance may appeal to these voters more than Harris's policies. For the Harris campaign, time is running out to turn things around in Michigan. The state, which once appeared to be a reliable Democratic stronghold, is now up for grabs, adding pressure to Harris as she tries to galvanize voters and solidify her message in the closing months of the campaign. Without a clear path to flipping states like Michigan, Pennsylvania, or Wisconsin, Harris's road to the White House appears increasingly difficult. In the coming weeks, the campaign’s focus will likely shift to retaining support in other battleground states where Harris holds narrow leads. However, without a significant shift in momentum, the possibility of Trump clinching a second term is becoming more plausible, leaving Democrats to reassess their strategies in these crucial states.
