Scott Hayes, 47, was arraigned and will be released on a $5,000 bail after he was arrested on Thursday for shooting a man with a pro-Palestinian pin who charged through traffic and tackled him in Newton, Massachusetts. Hayes pleaded not guilty in the Newton District Court to the charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He is required to wear a GPS ankle monitor and abide by a curfew that will allow him to continue working as a contractor. Hayes spoke briefly in court, answering the judge’s question about how often he attends religious services, according to sources in the courtroom. Hayes’ lawyers requested he be allowed to attend religious services, work, and legal and medical appointments.  The judge ordered Hayes, an Iraq War veteran, to stay away from Newton and the man who attacked him, and to possess no weapons. Middlesex County District Attorney Marian Ryan said Thursday night that Hayes would be charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and violation of a constitutional right causing injury, though only the first charge was brought during the arraignment. Prosecutors said they requested a criminal complaint to be filed against the man who tackled Hayes, which is currently pending in the clerk’s office. The man who attacked Hayes has yet to be identified but sustained life-threatening injuries, according to authorities.  In a video obtained by The Daily Wire, a man wearing the Palestinian pin stood on the opposite side of the street, yelling at a group of 10 protesters. He called them “sick” and accused them of “supporting genocide.” The man then charged across the street in front of cars and tackled Hayes, who was preparing to leave before the attack. Moments later, while the attacker was on top of Hayes, the veteran shot the man in the stomach. Video shows Hayes placing the gun behind him on the pavement after the shot. In another video, Hayes, who was holding American and Israeli flags throughout the protest, is seen telling bystanders to call 911 while tending to the wound of the man who attacked him. Hayes legally owned the firearm he used during the altercation. Support for Hayes has flown in, with a GoFundMe for his legal defense raising over $130,000 as of Friday afternoon. “We stand with Scott Hayes, who was defending himself after being attacked by a pro-Hamas maniac in Massachusetts,” The Republican Jewish Coalition posted on X.  Anti-Defamation League New England said it was “concerning” that “charges were immediately filed prior to completion of the investigation” in a statement on X. Hayes frequently attends pro-Israel protests and rallies around New England to show his support for Israel and to call for the release of the 101 hostages currently held by Hamas in Gaza. 

Left-wing political commentator Charlamagne Tha God urged Democrats to stuff President Joe Biden back in the basement after he put on a Trump hat this week following the debate between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump. Slamming Biden, he said: “A day after your vice president has a phenomenal debate against the former president of the United States of America, Donald Trump, you, Mr. President, decided to put on a hat that says ‘Trump 2024.'” “That doesn’t seem like a show of support for your vice president to me. This race is going to be tight, okay?” he continued, adding that the only way that Democrats can win is if they get extremely high voter turn out from their base. “So, when you know you need that kind of turnout, why as the sitting president would you wear a hat in support of a person who is the op of your running mate?” he asked. “He is an op in regards to your administration. You, President Biden, you call him a threat to democracy. Okay, if he’s a threat to democracy, why are you wearing paraphernalia that supports him being president in 2024? You said you did it as a gesture of unity. You can’t call someone a threat to democracy and then wear their paraphernalia and want to be unified with them. CNN’s Kate Bolduan panicked on Friday after new polling from the network showed that regardless of how former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris performed during this week’s debate, voters still overwhelmingly said that Trump was the better choice for the economy. Bolduan made the remarks on the network’s “News Central” while talking to far-Left commentator Van Jones and CNN Republican Alyssa Farah Griffin. The poll found that the margin of voters who said Trump was better for the economy than Harris increased from 16% to 20% after the debate, increasing Trump’s lead to 55%-35% over Harris. “We’ve got the Fed very likely looking to cut rates for the first time since early pandemic days,” she said. “What does that mean for this point in the campaign? Because it’s a funky place. You’ve got, potentially, a good sign that Kamala Harris can talk about, kind of quote-unquote late-stage change, but you still have Donald Trump killing her when it comes to the economy. In that snap poll after the debate, he was up 20 points on the economy even though the vast majority said she won the debate.” Later during the segment, she expressed frustration over the Biden-Harris administration’s messaging surrounding the economy. The New Yorker’s Susan Glasser got walloped by Community Notes on Wednesday — and despite a direct challenge from the Trump campaign, has thus far declined to make any corrections. Glasser wrote a response piece for The New Yorker after Tuesday’s ABC debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris — the latter of whom got a series of fact-checking assists from moderators David Muir and Linsey Davis — and among other things, she suggested that Trump had gone off the rails when he claimed Harris was in favor of tax-payer-funded transgender surgeries for illegal immigrants in detention. Harris’s bet was that Trump would say a lot of crazy and unhinged stuff if she got him going. It was a safe bet. I’ve watched every Presidential debate for the past two decades, and I can’t think of anything that ranks higher in pure stupidity than Trump ranting and raving to a national audience about immigrants supposedly eating people’s cats and dogs. His line about how the Vice-President “wants to do transgender operations on illegal aliens that are in prison” was pretty memorable, too. What the hell was he talking about? No one knows, which was, of course, exactly Harris’s point. Glasser even highlighted the sentiment of that particular passage in her X post promoting the article: “Trump made history last night for sure. Who will ever forget him ranting on stage about immigrants eating people’s dogs? Glasser, according to The Washington Free Beacon, informed the official that she was standing by the “view expressed in the column that this was a memorable line and also one that would be hard as heck for someone in the audience to understand what the former president meant by it.” Her goal, she explained further, was simply to ask about “the political advisability of bringing up these things in a national debate.” “Despite this back and forth I still have no idea what the heck the former president was talking about. Kind of like claiming she is a Marxist. Or saying she supports abortions of babies—after they are born,” Glasser continued. “Are you retracting those claims and correcting the record on them? Thanks.” But Glasser was wrong on those claims as well: During the debate, Harris refused to answer whether she would ever support any restrictions on abortion. Her running mate, Governor Tim Walz (D-MN), recently signed legislation granting broader access to abortion, and stripped away language that required doctors to take lifesaving action in the event that a baby survived an attempted abortion.
