Trump Corners Kamala On Late-Term Abortion. She Refuses To Say If She Supports Aborting Babies In Third Trimester.

Trump Corners Kamala On Late-Term Abortion. She Refuses To Say If She Supports Aborting Babies In Third Trimester.

Former President Donald Trump pushed Vice President Kamala Harris to address her position on abortion during Tuesday night’s debate, pursuing a much-discussed strategy from pro-lifers to corner Democrats on abortion extremism. As Harris argued that Trump supports a national abortion ban and insisted that he has taken a stand against in vitro fertilization, Trump fired back that no such abortion ban would ever reach his desk, and emphasized his support for IVF. Then he pivoted, asking, “Will she allow abortion in the ninth month, eight month, seventh month?” “Come on,” responded Harris, her face full of disapproval. Donald Trump accuses Harris and Walz of radical abortion extremism: “Her vice presidential pick…says abortion in the ninth month is absolutely fine. He also says execution after birth (it’s execution, no longer abortion, bc the baby is born) is ok. And that’s not ok with me.” pic.twitter.com/6t6Z9mRQkn — Mary Margaret Olohan (@MaryMargOlohan) September 11, 2024 “Would you do it?” he persisted. “You could do abortions in the seventh month, eight month, ninth month, and probably after birth. Just look at the former governor of Virginia … said we put the baby aside and then we determine what we want to do with the baby.” Trump was referring to former Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam, who endorsed the idea that a woman should be able to let her infant die on the table if that baby is born alive in an abortion — and she doesn’t want it to live. Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW! Buy here for a theater near you. “So in this particular example, if the mother is in labor, I can tell you exactly what would happen, the infant would be delivered, the infant would be kept comfortable, the infant would be resuscitated if this is what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physician and the mother,” Northam said at the time. Harris, on Tuesday night, would not say if she would protect babies in the seventh, eighth, or ninth month of pregnancy. Her campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Fact-Checking Claims Made in Trump-Harris Debate

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump face off Tuesday night for their first, and possibly only, debate before the Nov. 5 presidential election.  The matchup is being hosted by ABC News and will be moderated by ABC News anchors David Muir and Linsey Davis. The debate is taking place at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia and is set to run for 90 minutes. This is the second debate for Trump during the 2024 campaign. The first time around he faced off against President Joe Biden on June 27. Biden struggled to answer questions and finish sentences, and dropped out of the race July 21. The rules in this debate will be the same as the June debate. Candidates’ microphones will be silenced while the opponent is answering questions. The Daily Signal will be fact-checking this debate live as it happens. Trump: We had no inflation Trump repeatedly said he “had no inflation” during his tenure in the White House. While inflation grew much faster under Biden and Harris, prices also rose under Trump.  Prices overall rose 19% over the first 42 months of Biden’s term compared with 6% during Trump’s first 42 months, according to Forbes. Year-over-year inflation peaked under Biden at a four-decade hgh of 9% in 2022. Opportunity economy Harris said she is the only candidate promoting an opportunity economy, but Trump’s Tax Cuts and Jobs Act gave the 82% of middle-income earners a tax cut that averaged about $1,050, according to FactCheck.org. “I was raised in a middle-class home,” Harris said, “And I am actually the only person on the stage who has a plan to lift up the middle class and the working people, and when you look at his economic plan, it’s all about tax breaks for the richest people.”  But even the Biden-Harris administration’s Treasury secretary, Janet Yellen, acknowledged that Trump’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act cut taxes for all.  The year following the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, new job openings surged, and about 83,000 more Americans voluntarily left their jobs for better opportunities at the end of 2019, compared with the trend before the reform. Trump: Harris’ father Is a Marxist professor The claim that Harris’ father is a Marxist was fact-checked by Snopes as “true” after a viral X post from political economist Maxine Fowé.  Fun fact: Did you know that Kamala Harris' father, Donald J Harris, was a post-Keynesian & Marxian economist? His research focused on economic inequality, uneven development & how the growth rate of an economy is fundamentally dependent on the class structure of society. pic.twitter.com/490r3uJXWi— Maxine Fowé (@maxinefowe) July 21, 2024 Donald Harris, a now-retired professor of economics at Stanford University, was the author of a 1978 book, “Capital Accumulation and Income Distribution.” It features ideas on Karl Marx’s theory of capital. “His book, ‘Capital Accumulation and Income Distribution’, published in 1978 and dedicated to Kamala and her sister, examines the pitfalls of relying on profit-seeking capitalists to direct an economy,” writes The Economist. The New Yorker wrote of Donald Harris being “a renowned Marxist economist from Jamaica who taught at Stanford University for decades.” ‘Trump Abortion Bans’ Harris branded state laws on abortion “Trump abortion bans,” because Trump appointed the Supreme Court justices who created the majority that overturned the 1973 abortion precedent, Roe v. Wade.  The justices Trump nominated did indeed overturn Roe in the 2022 case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. “Donald Trump hand-selected three justices of the Supreme Court with the intention that they would overturn Roe,” Harris said.  When Trump said he supports exceptions to abortion restrictions in the cases of rape, incest, and a threat to the life of the mother, Harris said, “in over 20 states, there are Trump abortion bans which make it criminal for a doctor or nurse to provide health care,” a reference to abortion.  She noted that many of these laws “make no exception for rape or incest.” Yet Trump claimed that after Dobbs, states can make their own laws on abortion, so a federal ban is unnecessary. “Look, this is an issue that’s torn our country apart for 52 years,” the former president said. “Each individual state is voting. It’s the vote of the people now. It’s not tied up in the federal government.” Trump does not bear responsibility for each of the abortion laws passed after Dobbs; the states themselves do. All Trump’s Supreme Court justices did was enable the states to make their own laws. Harris: No Women Getting Late-Term Abortions Harris said no women are carrying their babies to the ninth month of pregnancy, then getting abortions.  She said this after answering a question about whether she supported any limitations on abortions by saying she would restore Roe v. Wade.  In saying this, Harris admitted that she would allow abortions in the ninth month. She just denies that they are happening.  But as of June 28, six states and Washington, D.C., impose no term restrictions on abortion. And 11 states have ballot measures that would permit abortion up until birth if a “health care professional” determines the mother needs it.  In 2019, Harris voted to block a bill that would have required medical care for babies born alive in botched abortions. This article will be updated throughout the night. The post Fact-Checking Claims Made in Trump-Harris Debate appeared first on The Daily Signal.

CNN WHINES About ABC Using Muted Mic Debate Rules THEY Introduced

In the run up to the first and possibly only debate between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris Tuesday night, CNN’s panel of purported journalists tacitly admitted that they favored debate rules that they thought favored Democrats. In this instance, they were collectively whining about ABC News carrying over CNN’s debate rule of muting the candidates’ microphones to prevent interruptions; something CNN was now against since the Harris campaign was against it. Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, the moderators of CNN's debate, essentially admitted that CNN created the muted mic rule at President Biden’s request because they thought it was helpful to the Democratic candidate. But now that it’s proven to hurt the Democrat, they were suddenly against their own rule: TAPPER: So, they have been really litigating this idea of microphones being muted for several weeks. It is, those are the rules that Trump and Biden had agreed to, and Harris was trying to get them to change it. They did not change it. The mics are going to be muted if it's not your turn to speak. Does – does that help one side or the other? Obviously, Harris didn't want them muted. BASH: well, I believe that both the Trump campaign and the Harris campaign say flatly that they think it helps Donald Trump. And they're saying that because of the lesson from our debate on June 27. And of course, at the time, this was a new rule and it was done at the initially at the request of the Biden campaign because they didn't want Donald Trump to be interrupting Joe Biden all the time. And it turned out that after that debate was over, it was pretty clear that those muted mics gave Donald Trump guardrails. And he couldn't interrupt and he knew that he couldn't interrupt, which is why the Harris campaign tried really hard to change that.   CNN laments that they helped Trump in the first debate by muting Trump's mic. Now, CNN doesn't like that muted mic are being carried over into the ABC debate: "It helps Donald trump....The muted mics gave Trump guardrails." pic.twitter.com/G44dv6Cqkd — Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) September 10, 2024   After getting mildly drowned out due to what sounded like motorcycles driving by their setup outside the debate hall, CNN host Chris Wallace bemoaned that “the muted mics really prevent this from being a true debate.” He lamented that such a rule prevented an opportunity to make Trump look bad: In the 2020 debate that I did, obviously, Trump, they now admit, was kind of out of his mind and interrupted 145 times in 90 minutes. Not that I'm counting. But the fact is, even in that debate, there were some great exchanges. When Trump kept interrupting and Biden said ‘will you shut up, man.’ At one point, I said, would you tell your right-wing supporters – white supremacist supporters, would you disavowed them? And he said like who and Biden said like the Proud Boys. And Trump said, Proud Boys stand back and stand by. “The problem now with these muted mics, is it really isn't a debate where those interaction. They’re almost like simultaneous news conference,” he griped. Weekend host Abby Phillip agreed: “I think that that's exactly right. I mean, ultimately, that's also part of what the Harris campaign is looking at too. They want the ability for her to kind create a moment potentially with Trump.”   Abby Phillip worries that muted mics will hamper VP Kamala Harris's ability to "create a moment" that makes Trump look bad. She huffs that because of CNN's mic rules, Biden was "unable to stop" Trump's lies. pic.twitter.com/SXSdnUNMYS — Nicholas Fondacaro (@NickFondacaro) September 10, 2024   Phillip went on to bellyache about how the muted mics prevented Biden and Harris from fact-checking Trump in real-time: One of the things coming out of your debate, that you and Dana moderated, was that the complaints almost instantaneously that I was hearing from Biden advisors about all the – sort of waterfall of falsehoods coming from Trump and Biden's unwillingness, inability to do both to his actual skill level in that debate and also the rules he couldn't even begin to stop it to stop them. And I think muted microphones make that job a little bit harder and also raise the bar for what happens when it is her turn, because then she's got to spend the first 30 seconds, 45 seconds rebutting. And that really eats up a lot of that time. Well, well, well, isn’t the consequences of CNN’s own actions? The transcript is below. Click "expand" to read: CNN’s Debate Night in America September 10, 2024 7:20:33 p.m. Eastern (…) JAKE TAPPER: So, they have been really litigating this idea of microphones being muted for several weeks. (…) 7:23:49 p.m. Eastern CHRIS WALLACE: But Jake, I would argue that the muted mics really prevent this from being a true debate. The problem now with these muted mics, is it really isn't a debate where those interaction. They’re almost like simultaneous news conference. You get two minutes to answer, you get two minutes to answer, but you don't get the interaction which has been some of the most memorable moments in the debates since Nixon and Kennedy back in 1960. ABBY PHILLIP: I think that that's exactly right. I mean, ultimately, that's also part of what the Harris campaign is looking at too. They want the ability for her to kind create a moment potentially with Trump. Utah man jealously stalked adult daughter before strangling her to death and texting of his 'unforgivable sin,' police say

Police are searching for a man who allegedly strangled his adult daughter to death after jealously stalking her and texting to a family member that he had committed an "unforgivable sin." 54-year-old Hector Ramon Martinez-Ayala had been named as a person of interest after his 25-year-old daughter Marbella Martinez was found dead on August 1 at the home she shared in Tooele with her father. An autopsy found that she had died from strangulation. 'I made a big mistake, an unforgivable sin ... I think I will never come back.' Martinez was a Salt Lake County sheriff’s deputy. On Friday, Martinez-Ayala was charged in her murder, and an arrest warrant was issued after he appeared to have fled the country with the aid of a family member. Charging documents described a bizarre and disturbing series of incidents where Martinez-Ayala allegedly stalked his own daughter and appeared to confess in a text to his twin brother. “My brother, you know (how) much I love you, I made a big mistake, an unforgivable sin, now I’m too scared and I don’t know what to do," Martinez-Ayala allegedly texted on July 31 at about 4:30 p.m. "I think I will never come back,” he reportedly added. Prosecutors said before the murder of his daughter, Martinez-Ayala “was becoming increasingly obsessed and controlling” about her and using electronics to track her and stalk her. His texts reportedly sounded “more of the nature of a jealous lover than a father.”Charging documents said the stalking escalated when the father found his daughter with her love interest on July 29 and she fled his home to stay at a hotel. Cameras allegedly showed her entering the home on July 31 and Martinez-Ayala arriving about two hours later. Her body was later found on top of her bed. “Blood was observed in the victim’s mouth and there were visible apparent fingernail claw marks on the victim’s face and neck,” prosecutors said. Tooele police say that Martinez-Ayala likely fled the country with the aid of friends and family, and they are urging them to come forward to help police catch the suspect. A news video report from KSL-TV showed images of the victim and her father before the horrifying incident. Like Blaze News?
