Disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been rushed to from Rikers Island to Bellevue Hospital for emergency heart surgery.

According to a new report, former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo “edited” a state report that minimized the death count in nursing homes from COVID-19. The House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, which will interview Cuomo on Tuesday, said Cuomo’s office made “demonstrably false” statements while engaging in a “cover-up,” the New York Post reported. In June 2024, Cuomo blamed federal and state health officials for the nursing home directive. “They [Cuomo and his then-staff] want to assert that that order is exactly the same as the federal CMS, which it is not,” Rep. Marc Molinaro said. “The state order says, ‘You shall take back individuals and you cannot deny them solely on the basis of COVID,’ which left them no option but to accept individuals that we knew would cause risk to the other patients.” “Andrew Cuomo was attempting to shift blame for what was a clear directive,” Molinaro continued. “When they identified and knew that the order was causing great loss, they subsequently cooked the books to suggest that the numbers of those who died in nursing homes were much less than we knew.” On March 25, 2020, the New York Department of Health issued an advisory that stated nursing homes had to accept residents returning from hospitals whether or not they had a diagnosis of COVID-19. The advisory stated: During this global health emergency, all NHs must comply with the expedited receipt of residents returning from hospitals to NHs. Residents are deemed appropriate for return to a NH upon a determination by the hospital physician or designee that the resident is medically stable for return.  Hospital discharge planners must confirm to the NH, by telephone, that the resident is medically stable for discharge. Comprehensive discharge instructions must be provided by the hospital prior to the transport of a resident to the NH. No resident shall be denied re-admission or admission to the NH solely based on a confirmed or suspected diagnosis of COVID-19. NHs are prohibited from requiring a hospitalized resident who is determined medically stable to be tested for COVID-19 prior to admission or readmission. In the fall of 2020, speaking to Finger Lakes Daily News, Cuomo defended himself from the charge that his policies caused more deaths from COVID in nursing homes, the New York Post reported. In response to a question about the issue, Cuomo blamed the federal government, attacked Florida’s state government, claimed that New York “flattened the curve effectively,” and said, “It just never happened in New York, where we needed to say to a nursing home, ‘We need you to take this person even though they’re COVID positive.’ It never happened.” New York State has reported “more than 6,600 nursing home COVID-19 related deaths,” Finger Lakes Daily News reported, “but that number is likely much higher since New York does not include residents who initially contracted the virus at a nursing home but died after being transferred to a hospital.” State Senator Tom O’Mara co-sponsored a bill requiring the Department of Health to provide the accurate death toll from those in nursing homes. “He said many believe that number could be twice as high,” the Daily News noted. The outlet asked Cuomo, “Governor, you said earlier that you lie down at night and you can sleep knowing that you saved lives. What would you say to New York residents who lost their loved ones in nursing homes due to your mandate back in late March regarding sending COVID-positive patients back to nursing homes?” “Yeah, I would say, first of all, that’s not why they lost a loved one,” Cuomo protested. “Your premise, the premise of your question, is just factually wrong. People who were lost in nursing homes were lost because that’s where the virus preys. The virus preys on senior citizens. The virus was introduced in this country in Washington, state of Washington in a nursing home. That’s who succumb to this virus, are immune-compromised senior citizens, and they’re predominantly located in nursing homes.” “Number two: you look at the nursing home deaths in this state; do you know what number we are by percentage before you made that statement? We’re number 46 out of 50 states,” Cuomo boasted. “And we had the worst problem, and we’re number 46 in terms of percentage of deaths in nursing homes.”

The Biden-Harris administration pushed forward with a U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2021 that led to disastrous consequences over concerns and warnings from numerous sources, according to a newly released report from the GOP-led House Foreign Affairs Committee. Chairman Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) released the findings of his years-long investigation on Monday, faulting President Joe Biden for pushing forward with the Afghanistan pullout and Vice President Kamala Harris for backing the decision. “The Biden-Harris administration was determined to withdraw from Afghanistan, with or without the Doha Agreement and no matter the cost. Accordingly, they ignored the conditions in the Doha Agreement, pleas of the Afghan government, and the objections by our NATO allies, deciding to unilaterally withdraw from the country,” the report says. The report also focuses on the timing of the administration’s declaration of a noncombatant emergency evacuation (NEO) in mid-August, well into the Taliban’s military reconquest of Afghanistan and after the group had reached Kabul. The lateness of the declaration threw evacuation plans for tens of thousands of stranded Americans and Afghan allies into chaos. “The Biden-Harris administration prioritized the optics of the withdrawal over the security of U.S. personnel on the ground,” the report says. “The Biden-Harris administration’s failure to prepare for a NEO and order a timely NEO created an unsafe environment at HKIA, exposing U.S. Defense Department and State Department personnel to lethal threats and emotional harm. “As a result, 13 U.S. servicemembers were murdered by a terrorist attack on August 26, 2021. It was the deadliest day for the U.S. military in Afghanistan since 2012,” the report continued, referencing the terror attack on Hamid Karzai International Airport’s Abbey Gate. A suicide bomber with the terror group ISIS-K detonated his device and killed 13 U.S. troops along with 170 Afghans. Democrats on the Foreign Affairs Committee, led by ranking member Rep. Gregory Meeks of New York, released a separate report to counter the GOP investigation’s findings. Meeks accused McCaul of playing politics with the Afghanistan withdrawal report. The chairman released the report just ahead of the first presidential debate between Harris and former President Donald Trump. Trump made the Afghanistan withdrawal a cornerstone of his attacks on Biden before he dropped out, and Trump has since shifted fire to Harris since she took up the Democratic nomination. Harris has bragged that she was “last” in the room when Biden made the decision to withdraw from Afghanistan, and that she supported that decision. McCaul’s report also faulted the Trump administration for negotiating the Doha agreement to withdraw from Afghanistan without input from the Afghan government. The White House attacked McCaul’s report as “partisan” and “based on cherry-picked facts, inaccurate characterizations, and pre-existing biases.” “As we have said many times, ending our longest war was the right thing to do and our nation is stronger today as a result,” White House spokeswoman Sharon Yang said in a statement, according to The Hill. McCaul’s investigation has been criticized by its former senior investigator, Jerry Dunleavy, who resigned from the investigation in protest. Dunleavy accused McCaul and the committee investigation of not pursuing leads and missing numerous chances to hold officials responsible for missteps and blunders during the withdrawal.

Kevin Costner publicly addressed the lackluster earnings from the first installment of his Western-themed film franchise, “Horizon,” claiming that even though the first film flopped and the second was delayed, he’s still counting on the movie standing “the test of time.” The 69-year-old actor spoke with reporters at the 2024 Venice Film Festival over the weekend, admitting that “Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1” didn’t perform well at the box office. “It didn’t have overwhelming success,” he said, per Variety. “I’ve had a lot of movies that way, that have stood the test of time,” Costner added. Originally, the second installment in the “Horizon” series was slated to come out just six weeks after the first one did, which he called a “studio decision.” He said the studio was also the reason for the release being delayed. “For me, it fell back into my plan, which was I always wanted to come out with movies about five-six months apart. And that was going to allow me to come to Venice,” Costner said, per the outlet. “I would have never come to Venice, because they won’t show the film here if it was already out.” “Part One” made just over $29 million in North America against an estimated production budget of $100 million. When I feel rejection, unlike anybody else, when I open my eyes from my disappointment, my desire is only increased.” He said in terms of making the third movie, he wants to “hurry and not let the rock fall back downhill, I gotta go put my hands on it again and start to push it up.” The “Dances with Wolves” actor also asserted that the movies don’t take sides in terms of politics, mentioning how “it’s not a message politically to anyone.” “‘Horizon’ is not a message to my country, it’s a reminder to my country of how difficult it was that people made this journey,” he said, per Variety.

A national security nonprofit is suing to obtain information about the State Department’s hiring of far-left activist Zakiya Carr Johnson as Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer. The Center to Advance Security in America (CASA), “a nonpartisan organization dedicated to improving the safety and security of the American people,” filed the lawsuit after first submitting a Freedom of Information Act request to the State Department, requesting communications related to Johnson’s hiring. “The hiring of Zakiya Carr Johnson as the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer at the State Department deserves maximum transparency due to Ms. Johnson’s past extreme progressive advocacy and repugnant comments regarding America being a systemically racist country,” CASA Director James Fitzpatrick told The Daily Wire. “The Center to Advance Security in America filed a FOIA request for communications and records related to her hiring, and after waiting over 140 days, we were forced to file this lawsuit.” The request, which was sent on April 23rd, sought communications between Secretary of State Antony Blinken and other officials concerning Johnson’s hiring. Now, the suit from CASA seeks to compel the State Department to produce all non-exempt records in accordance with the Freedom of Information Act. “To date, CASA has received neither a further response nor any other further communication from DOS,” the suit explains. “Through DOS’s failure to make a determination within the time period required by law, CASA has constructively exhausted its administrative remedies and seeks immediate judicial review.” Johnson’s hiring sparked uproar as radical statements from her past began to resurface. Johnson embraced far-left Critical Race Theory and claimed that American society is “often riddled with racism, patriarchy and exclusion,” The Daily Wire reported in April. “These are chinks in the armor of traditional leadership that refuse to reconcile with a colonizing past, or recognize that time has run out for experimentation and tweaking of a failed historic model,” Johnson stated in a now-deleted article, also adding, “we cannot have equity without dismantling structural racism, patriarchy and heterosexism.” Johnson is the co-author of a guide called “Feminist Leaders for Feminist Goals,” a how-to playbook for feminists to usurp “a culture of male and/or white dominance” in organizations. Johnson’s hiring is part of a wide-reaching plan to embed the far-left diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) agenda throughout the State Department. The State Department has spent at least $77 million taxpayer dollars on DEI efforts in just two years, The Daily Wire exclusively reported in March. The department has also pushed transgenderism across the globe, employing former activist Jessica Stern as its “Special Envoy to Advance the Human Rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Intersex Persons.” Stern has visited at least 22 countries across all six habitable continents, even attending a “transgender visibility” march in Brazil. Former president Donald Trump has said he would gut the federal bureaucracy through executive orders if elected. “We will pass critical reforms making every executive branch employee fireable by the President of the United States,” Trump said at a rally, touting the plan. “The deep state must be brought to heel.”

Kate Middleton dropped some incredible news about her cancer battle, sharing that she’s completed nine months of chemotherapy and is now on the path to remain “cancer free.” In a post on Monday on Instagram from the royal house of Kensington Palace, the Princess of Wales can be seen in the emotional video spending time with Prince William and their three kids as she opens up about the relief of finally completing chemo and what she’s learned about what matters most.  “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family,” Middleton said. “Life as you know it can change in an instant and we have had to find a way to navigate the stormy waters and road unknown.”  “The cancer journey is complex, scary and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you,” she added. “With humility, it also brings you face to face with your own vulnerabilities in a way you have never considered before, and with that, a new perspective on everything.”  “This time has above all reminded William and me to reflect and be grateful for the simple yet important things in life, which so many of us often take for granted,” Middleton continued. “Of simply loving and being loved. In early 2018, senators from both parties met with Donald Trump inside the White House. They were there to discuss the visa lottery system, which is a program that allocates visas to people from countries with “historically low” rates of immigration to the United States. This is one of many government programs that’s existed for decades without anyone in power asking why it exists — even though a visa lottery like this makes no sense whatsoever. The only criterion we should have when deciding who gets to enter the United States is whether admitting those people would make the United States a better country. Whether or not their country is “underrepresented” in the United States should have no bearing on whether a potential migrant is awarded a visa. As simple and obvious as this point may be, you rarely hear anyone say it. Certainly, you don’t hear presidents say it. But in his meeting with the senators, Donald Trump pointed out the problem right away. Trump specifically wanted to know why we were awarding visas to people from Haiti, one of the poorest and most dysfunctional countries in the entire world. (Depending on who you ask, Trump used slightly more colorful language than that.) You probably remember the outrage that followed. There was an outrage cycle that lasted more than two weeks. Haiti’s government said Trump’s comments were “abhorrent.” The United Nations human rights office said Donald Trump had “damaged” and “disrupted” the lives of “many people.” Conan O’Brien started filming his show in Haiti, during which he repeatedly blamed Haiti’s collapse on the United States. “The Haitians have been dealt the worst hand in the Western Hemisphere,” he said, implying that we owe them housing and healthcare as a result. WATCH: THE MATT WALSH SHOW But none of the outrage addressed Trump’s fundamental question. At no point did anyone in the press, or the Democrat Party, explain why we need to admit more Haitians into the United States. No one addressed Trump’s concern, which is that giving Haitians visas — simply because they come from Haiti, and for no other reason — would dramatically lower the quality of life for American citizens. As a result, two years after the manufactured outrage over Trump’s comments, lives have indeed been “damaged” and “disrupted,” as the United Nations put it. But those lives are not in Haiti. They’re in places like Springfield, Ohio, which were overrun with Haitians overnight. That is not hysteria. It’s clearly happening. This is a report from NPR — maybe the most Democrat-aligned media outlet in existence. But even NPR can’t spin the situation in Springfield. “Around 2020, things in this town took an unexpected turn. Thousands of Haitian migrants, fleeing violence and poverty, landed in Springfield. Locals say it felt like it happened overnight,” NPR wrote. “On Sunday afternoons, you could suddenly hear Creole mass wafting through downtown streets. Haitian restaurants started popping up. … The town of around 60,000 has received some 15,000-20,000 migrants in the last four years, many of them from Haiti.” I’ll say that again. A town of 60,000 people has received roughly 20,000 “migrants” in just the last four years. That’s a third of their population being added. This is a town that already had a poverty rate of more than twice the national average before the Haitians started moving in. This would be unsustainable even if Springfield were recruiting highly qualified, skilled immigrants. You can’t just massively increase your population very quickly without breaking things. And things are indeed breaking in Springfield. Take a look at this data, from the FBI’s “Crime Data Explorer.” The blue line tracks the number of crimes reported in Springfield, Ohio. FBI Crime Data Explorer Notice how it’s pretty steady from 2012 to 2020. And then all of a sudden, the number of reported crimes surges. In fact, it more than doubles beginning in 2020, when this surge of migrants from Haiti arrives. One of those crimes was committed last August by Hermanio Joseph, a Haitian migrant who drove his minivan into a school bus, killing an 11-year-old child who was ejected from the bus. The driver apparently had a “Mexican driver’s license and Ohio ID card, but no Ohio driver’s license.” Obviously, he shouldn’t have been in this country, much less driving on the road. But he was here. And for killing a child, he was only sentenced to about ten years in prison. These kinds of stories are now commonplace in Springfield. Meanwhile, social services have been overwhelmed. The Daily Mail reported, “At the community health clinic, Haitian patients rose from 115 to 1,500 between 2021 and 2023, overwhelming services  Rocking Horse Community Health Center chief medical officer Yamini Teegala said language barriers meant a 15-minute consult took up to 45 minutes. ‘We lost productivity. We had a huge burnout of staff,’ she [said]. … The clinic hired six Haitian Creole translators, but its translation budget blew out from $43,000 in 2020 to $436,000, which Teegala said was unsustainable.” Even with all this spending, Haitians are still terrorizing locals in Springfield. Springfield didn’t vote for this. It’s one of the most pro-Trump areas in the entire country. But no one can escape the consequences of mass migration. That’s the whole point of it. The Biden-Harris administration looks at this, and they see a success story. There is no outrage among the Left as communities like this are destroyed. They don’t care even as American citizens — including children — are killed. In fact, it’s not just human beings who are being murdered as a result of this migrant surge. In Springfield, there are now reports on social media that Haitians are eating people’s cats. Residents at city council meetings are also complaining that Haitians are eating ducks on the side of the road. This is from just a week ago. It’s easy to get a traffic ticket. But apparently, it’s not easy to round up and deport the Haitians who are eating animals and crashing their cars into children. That’s not the government’s priority. He theorizes in that clip that maybe the government’s being paid off by somebody. That’s all he can think of. But that doesn’t have to be the explanation. The Biden administration has a clear political motivation to import as many third-world aliens as possible because eventually, they’ll vote. And some local politicians in Springfield — which was devastated economically after the auto industry moved overseas — thought that more migrants would help the economy. And now here we are. Instead of helping the economy, the migrants are eating animals in public. As unsettling as all of this is, you have to wonder whether this will be the thing that finally awakens people on the Left to the problem of rampant immigration. They don’t seem to care much when immigrants kill human beings. That doesn’t bother them in the slightest. But maybe they’ll care about the ducks and chickens and cats that are meeting an untimely demise. Presumably, the vegans will be rising up any day now. One wonders what the childless cat ladies will say when their cats end up in a Haitian’s crock pot — or whatever they use to cook them. After all, this isn’t just happening in Springfield, Ohio. It’s happening everywhere that illegal migrants are being imported. That’s why there’s a similar crisis unfolding in Queens, New York, which is the borough that’s taking the brunt of the illegal migrant surge in the city. 70 of New York’s 193 taxpayer-funded migrant shelters are located in Queens, and hundreds of thousands of illegals have arrived in the city in the last two years. As councilman Robert Holden put it: “We’re getting dumped on here. How long can we sustain this? These shelters add nothing to the neighborhood. They only bring crime.” Some of that crime involves eating animals, apparently. The New York Post reported, “Animal sacrifices are surging in Queens, with chickens, pigs and rats being tortured, mutilated or killed in ‘twisted’ religious rituals in parkland surrounding Jamaica Bay … In a little over a month, at least nine wounded animals or carcasses have been discovered in the federally-managed Spring Creek Park in Howard Beach and the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge in Broad Channel — including five live pigs with partially severed ears. Creatures recovered from the revolting scene also include a near-dead baby rat tied up in a bag with chicken bones; a freshly-decapitated chicken head; a live hen in distress; and a dead dog with its neck snapped.” This is being linked not to Haitians, but to “Hindu devotees who worship the goddess Kali.” Then there’s this quote, from Sloane Quealy, who runs Zion’s Mission Animal Rescue. “It’s continually getting worse. The animal sacrifices are happening more repeatedly, more times a week. The sacrificers know it’s open season.” Yes, the “sacrificers” know it’s open season. And of course, those “sacrificers” typically have something in common, which is that they didn’t come from the United States. These episodes are yet more evidence of a simple truism: import the third world, become the third world. Culture matters. When you allow a flood of third-world people, you end up with an increasingly third-world culture. Anyone who has ever been to a third-world country knows that this is not an improvement. You get fight clubs on the streets. You get garbage all over the place and loud music playing around the clock. Watch: He’s lived there for more than 30 years, and he’s “never seen anything like it.” But it’s happening now. Some of this may be because of the visa lottery, which allows people like this into the country illegally. A lot of it is because of asylum fraud or “temporary protected status” and so on. But the debate over whether these migrants are “illegal” or not isn’t really the main issue here. That’s because, as hard as it may be for either party to admit, illegal immigration is not the only problem. Unchecked immigration of any kind — illegal or legal — creates the same problems in this country. We do not erase the downside of importing many thousands of Haitians every year just by importing them “legally.” The immigrants that are reportedly conducting blood sacrifices on the streets do not suddenly become acceptable because we give them a visa. The key point is that we do not want America to be like these places. We don’t want America to become like Haiti or any third-world country. Whether it becomes like Haiti or any similar place illegally or legally is basically irrelevant. If places like Springfield and Queens are ever going to become habitable again, the people running the government have to admit that. And then they have no choice but to get these people out of the country as quickly as possible.
