Xgimi’s new ultra-short throw projector keeps dust and dirt off its lens

The most welcome upgrade on the Xgimi Aura 2 is a retractable lens protector. | Image: Xgimi Xgimi has announced an upgraded version of its ultra-short throw projector. The new Aura 2 is smaller and lighter than its predecessor while delivering more brightness, but the most welcome improvement is an automatic sliding cover on top that protects the projector’s lens and helps minimize dust buildup. Image: Xgimi The Aura 2 can project an image up to 150 inches in size while sitting close to a wall. Xgimi says the Aura 2 produces 2,300 ISO lumens of brightness from its “Dual Light 2.0” light source that uses a combination of lasers and LEDs. That’s up from 1,800 ISO lumens for the original Xgimi Aura, which should improve the Aura 2’s performance when used in rooms where ambient light can’t be completely... Continue reading…

ChromeOS just copied one of Windows 11’s best features

Snap Groups is basically Snap Layouts for Chromebooks. | Illustration: The Verge Google is rolling out a new ChromeOS update that makes it easier to keep your on-screen apps organized, copy text from images, and adjust camera and microphone settings on Chromebook devices. One of the more notable features introduced in ChromeOS 128 is Snap Groups — a feature similar to Windows 11’s Snap layouts that allows you to easily group apps together in a variety of fullscreen layouts. The feature is even triggered the same way as Microsoft does it, by hovering over the maximize app button. The ChromeOS camera app now supports Optical Character Recognition (OCR) to extract text from captured images of letters or other documents. It allows users to copy or search the text in images, more easily convert images into searchable... Continue reading…

No, the Apple Watch Series 10 probably didn’t leak in the latest iOS 18.1 beta

We're a weekend away from the iPhone 16 launch event, where Apple will also unveil the new Apple Watch Series 10 and AirPods 4. We already think we know everything about all these devices, but last-minute leaks can always spoil more surprises. However, the image below is probably not one of them. It's making the rounds on X as the purported Apple Watch Series 10 design. The render reportedly comes from pairing an Apple Watch with an iPhone running iOS 18.1 beta. That's the beta release that lets you try the first Apple Intelligence features on the iPhone 15 Pros. I don't have access to the iOS 18.1 beta because I don't own an iPhone 15 Pro. Also, Apple Intelligence isn't available in Europe at this point, and it's unclear when Apple will launch it. Continue reading... Al Jardine Pays Tribute To Beach Boys Bandmate Brian Wilson With New Song

Al Jardine has finally released a song he has been working on since the ‘90s with his longtime co-songwriter Larry Dvoskin. The new song is a tribute to his Beach Boys bandmates Brian Wilson and the late Dennis Wilson, who died by drowning in 1983. Jardine titled the song “Wish,” which has now been made available on all streaming platforms. He explained the nostalgic motivation behind the song, which is even more relevant now since Brian’s state of health has kept him off the band. Al Jardine reflects on old times Everett As its name implies, the new track talks about wishing things were the same with a loved one, which is how Jardine felt while making it. The 82-year-old added that he felt emotional because time has passed, and the Beach Boys are now all frail and aged. Making “Wish” was also a chance to share wonderful unfinished songs with the world. RELATED: The Beach Boys’ Mike Love Reminisces On Longevity Of The Band: ‘Always So Positive’ Although Jardine has been solo, he toured with Brian’s band until their last time in the summer of 2022. He is hoping to get on the road with the group again, even though Brian’s chances of joining are slim due to his major neurocognitive disorder. ImageCollect Making ‘Wish’ “Wish” came together with Jardine taking the lead and bass, while Larry handled harmony vocals, piano, and synthesizer plus Taylor Simpsons on the drum. Jardine hopes to include the new release in his next solo album, which will follow his 2010s studio album A Postcard from California. Everett He added that he is working on other unfinished projects, and “Wish” is more like a prelude to them. While the singer is considering releasing a Vinyl ahead of Record Store Day, part of the financial proceeds from “Wish” have been promised to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and MusiCares.
