I want an iPhone 16, but I could easily keep my iPhone 14 Pro for another year

The iPhone 16 is coming out next week, and I'll order one of the four models as soon as preorders go live. I've been looking forward to the iPhone 16 series, mainly for Apple Intelligence features. But plenty of exciting upgrades are coming my way, including the Capture button, which I'll surely put to good use once it comes out. However, I also realize there's a case for keeping my iPhone 14 Pro for another year. The handset is almost two years old, which means it's still a great phone that can rock a couple of years of updates. It's the equivalent of the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus, models that will surely stay in Apple's lineup for another year. Continue reading... Bert Lahr’s Daughter On His Experience Filming ‘Wizard Of Oz’

Nearly nine decades after Wizard of Oz was released, one of the cast members’ daughter is recounting her father’s experience on set and how much pain he went through to deliver on his part. Bert Lahr played the Cowardly Lion alongside Judy Garland, who took the lead as Dorothy. While Judy simply needed to appear in an adorable dress with pigtails and a pair of red shoes, getting into character was much harder for Bert Lahr. His daughter, Jane Lahr, gave details about the costume he had to use, which cost him comfort and much-needed air. Bert Lahr wore real lion fur for his Cowardly Lion costume THE WIZARD OF OZ, Bert Lahr as the Cowardly Lion, 1939 According to Jane, Bert had to wear real lion fur, which, coupled with other parts of the costume, was 100 pounds of material weighing him down. He also felt trapped in the outfit and could only eat by drinking his lunch through a straw in between filming. Even worse was the heat Bert experienced underneath the heavy outfit. RELATED: Dying ‘Wizard Of Oz’ Ruby Slippers Thief To Not Face Jail Time Aside from how hot the lion disguise was, Bert had to deal with the high-intensity studio lights but remained in high spirits regardless. On top of the real lion fur, Bert also wore a wig made from Italian human hair and had his tail attached to a block. THE WIZARD OF OZ, Bert Lahr, Frank Morgan, 1939 Discomfort for art Thankfully, Bert was a good sport on set and made light of his condition underneath the hideous outfit. According to Jane, his carrying on did not make his experience any less tortuous. Even Jack Haley, who played Tin Man, had to bear a heavy costume, lay down on boards, and was excluded from the dining room. THE WIZARD OF OZ, Frank Morgan, Bert Lahr, Judy Garland, Jack Haley, Ray Bolger, 1939 Sadly, just like his co-star Frank Morgan warned, Bert got dropped by MGM Studios right after his contract, which hurt him very much. Frank previously warned that his many good reviews would do his Hollywood career no good because there were no more lion parts to play after The Wizard of Oz. After the classic, Bert starred in other productions like Meet The People, Androcles and the Lion, and The School for Wives. Ukraine's bondholders approve crucial $20 bln debt restructuring

Ukraine announced on Wednesday that international bondholders had formally approved its plan to restructure over $20 billion of debt amid its ongoing war with Russia. Kyiv said those holding over 97% of its debt had done so by the required deadline, meaning the restructuring could go ahead. It is set to slash the face value of Ukraine's international bonds by more than a third and keeps it onside with its key support provider, the International Monetary Fund, which had stipulated the writedown...

House Republicans head into another intraparty squabble over government funding as elections loom

Lawmakers will return to Washington next week with the main goal of passing a spending bill before an Oct. 1 deadline to keep the government open, but the House’s hardline conservatives want concessions that could dash hopes for a drama-free, election-year spending deal. Despite repeated promises from House Republican leaders, they again failed to pass all 12 annual spending bills and are homing in on the customary funding patch to get past the Nov. 5 elections. The House Freedom Caucus wants...
