MIT’s Share Of Black Students Plummets After Affirmative Action Struck Down

The percentage of black students at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) has plummeted in the wake of the end of affirmative action. The incoming freshman class this fall is only 5% black, down from an average of 13% in recent years, MIT said Wednesday. Hispanic students are also down to 11% from 15%, the school said. Previously, about 25% of MIT undergraduates were black, Hispanic, Native American, or Pacific Islander, but that number has dropped to 16% for the incoming class. Meanwhile, Asian American students are up to 47% from 41%, making up nearly half of the entire class of 2028. The percentage of white students stayed about the same at 37%. Last summer, the Supreme Court declared considering race in admissions unconstitutional in a landmark ruling that targeted the affirmative action admissions programs at Harvard and the University of North Carolina. Students for Fair Admissions, the group that sued over affirmative action, pointed to the high test scores of Asian-American and white applicants who were rejected. MIT’s dean of admissions, Stu Schmill, said Wednesday that the school has expanded its recruitment and financial aid initiative to “further improve access to the Institute for students from all backgrounds.” “Despite these initiatives, and as we expected, there was still a decline in the proportion of enrolling first-years from historically under-represented racial and ethnic backgrounds,” the dean said. “If MIT cannot find a way to continue to draw on the full range of human talent and experience in the future, it may threaten the qualitative strength of the MIT education, both by a relative reduction in the educational benefits of diversity and by making our community less attractive to the best students from all backgrounds,” Schmill wrote in a blog post. A majority of Americans, 62%, oppose race-based college admissions, according to a Reuters poll last year. Around the time of the court’s decision, universities scrambled to find other ways to diversify their student bodies. Some schools moved away from using standardized test scores in the admissions process as the argument that standardized testing harms minority students picked up steam. Previously, a low SAT or ACT score meant automatic elimination at most top-tier schools. Last year, Columbia University became the first Ivy League school to permanently scrap its standardized test requirement, allowing hopeful applicants to skip the dreaded SAT and ACT. Some schools are also considering requiring more essays for admission to get a better idea of a student’s background, while others plan to recruit students from minority areas or admit more students transferring from community colleges. Back in 1995, the University of California System Board of Regents banned affirmative action so UC adopted roundabout ways of trying to identify minority students, such as through poor neighborhoods and family income.

It May Be Kamala’s Convention, But Trump Is Getting The Surge

Vice President Kamala Harris, if tradition holds, should be seeing a bump in her poll numbers coming out of the Democratic National Convention (DNC), which will wrap up on Thursday evening as she officially accepts the 2024 presidential nomination from her party. But even as the final hours of the convention tick by, it’s her Republican opponent — former President Donald Trump — who appears to be surging. According to a report from Fox Business, Trump received a boost on at least two betting sites, surging past Harris on Polymarket and coming up just short of surpassing her on BetUS. As of Wednesday, Polymarket predicted a 52% chance that Trump would come out ahead in the 2024 presidential election — up six points from the 46% chance they gave him one week prior. Harris’ odds, in the same time period — despite the fact that her convention was in full swing — dropped from 51% to 47%. On BetUS, Trump was given a 52.38% chance to Harris’ 54.55% — and he appeared to still be making headway. According to the report, BetUS public relations director Tim Williams had a few ideas as to what might be giving Trump such a boost — from rumors of a potential endorsement from independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to the latest jobs numbers. “My pure speculation might be that the betting public believes that having to revise down payroll growth by 818,000 jobs — that’s 818,000 fewer jobs than reported earlier — could hurt Harris,” he told Fox Business, noting that the Biden-Harris administration had been boasting about creating nearly a million jobs that did not actually exist. Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW! Buy here for a theater near you. Rutgers University statistics professor Harry Crane noted that media scrutiny over Harris’ economic policy proposals — which had been panned by the Right and the Left — could also account for her slipping in the betting markets. Model update: Trump 52.5% Harris 40.3% Still some uncertainty because of RFK decision and time until the election. Significant market moves in the past week. Likely a combination of: 1. Harris releasing economic policies (unpopular) 2. More Harris media exposure. 3. RFK… pic.twitter.com/x91x6GAeXR — Harry Crane (@HarryDCrane) August 21, 2024 “I’m not aware of anything new that’s happened on Trump’s front in the past week that would warrant him coming back in any kind of drastic fashion,” Crane told Fox Business. “I think that the most obvious things that I see is that Harris has released some economic proposals, and she’s answered a few questions more than before. And maybe those haven’t been so great for her.” Clay Travis argued that the boost might be the result of a rumored RFK endorsement, saying, “As the third night of the DNC drags on, Trump has taken a 7% point lead in the gambling markets, moving from -10 to +7 in a few days, a pretty seismic 17% swing. RFK, Jr (potentially) endorsing him has stolen the DNC narrative.” As the third night of the DNC drags on, Trump has taken a 7% point lead in the gambling markets, moving from -10 to +7 in a few days, a pretty seismic 17% swing. Vivek Ramaswamy: Kamala’s Proposed Tax Raises Could Trigger ‘A Second Great Depression’

Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy warned on Thursday that Vice President Kamala Harris’ tax proposals risk another Great Depression if enacted. Ramaswamy spoke at a Trump campaign event and said that a tax leveraged on unrealized capital gains could cause a “downward spiral in asset prices” and lead to a depression economy. Harris has endorsed a tax on unrealized capital gains, along with other tax proposals, included in the latest Biden-Harris administration budget proposal to Congress. A tax on unrealized capital gains would force Americans who hold assets such as stocks, real estate, businesses, and other property to pay a tax if the assets increase in value. A tax on unrealized gains must be paid on the appreciation of the asset regardless of whether it is sold and an actual profit earned. Ramaswamy said that such a tax could force investors and property owners to sell assets early and trigger a collapse in asset prices. “You don’t want to sell, but you’re forced to sell because you have to pay the tax out of pocket. But it turns out you won’t be the only person required to do that. Somebody else will be required to do that, too, but they’ll have to do it at a lower price because you already sold, and your sale drove down the price of the asset,” Ramaswamy said. “And then when the next person does it, that triggers down the price of the asset further. But the guy sitting next to him has to sell that asset to pay his taxes. That is how you trigger what you call a downward spiral in asset prices. It’s the best formula for triggering a second Great Depression, if we ever have one,” he continued. Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW! Buy here for a theater near you. The former Republican presidential candidate said that the people most likely to be damaged by such a collapse in asset prices are less-wealthy investors who do not possess enough liquid assets, such as cash, to pay the taxes on their unrealized capital gains. “The reality is, you know who’s gonna be holding the bag at the end of it? The people who don’t hold liquid assets,” Ramaswamy said. “Most people who are wealthier [are] well-advised enough to know that they [need to] hold a significant portion of their assets in liquid holdings.” “But think about that entrepreneur who started a small business, a barbershop, a restaurant owner who might be having early success but needs to reinvest in their business to grow it. They don’t have the cash to pay it because they’re all in on their business. They’re the ones who are ultimately going to actually have to pay the price,” he said. The entrepreneur and venture capitalist suggested that Harris’ economic plans would be a continuation of President Joe Biden’s agenda – an agenda that has saddled the average American with an extra $47,000 in regulatory costs over the course of a lifetime, according to one estimate. Ramaswamy said Harris’ policies are borrowed from Democratic hardliners such as Sens. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts. “I respect the likes of Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders more than I respect Kamala Harris,” Ramaswamy added. “The only thing worse than somebody who believes the wrong thing is somebody who advances the wrong policies while actually believing nothing at all. And I think that’s what we’re getting with Kamala Harris today.” .@VivekGRamaswamy lays out exactly how Kamala Harris' capital gains tax would trigger the next Great Depression. pic.twitter.com/WEXrvCucnh — Daily Wire (@realDailyWire) August 22, 2024

My Incredible Journey Of Self-Discovery At The DNC

My Incredible Journey Of Self-Discovery At The DNC

This week I was deeply honored to attend the Democrat National Convention in Chicago. Now, before I tell you about my experiences, I want to dispel one rumor right away. There are some who assume that I only went to the DNC to shamelessly promote my new film, “Am I Racist?” which premiers September 13th. Tickets are on sale now at AmIRacist.com. These people think that the entire thing was one big stunt — that I went to the DNC knowing that the Left would get angry and start complaining about it on social media, thereby unwittingly helping to advertise my film. As if the whole point was to generate headlines like this in the Daily Mail: “Matt Walsh Enrages Democrats By Crashing DNC In White Dudes For Kamala Harris Disguise” — an article that includes a lengthy description of the film, along with a link to the trailer. That’s how some people see this, as some kind of low-rent gimmick to raise awareness about my film “Am I Racist?“, tickets on sale now at AmIRacist.com. Admittedly, if that was my plan, then it worked tremendously well. We sold a lot of tickets because of it, and every leftist who complained about my presence at the convention was falling directly into the trap. But that was not my plan. I want to be very clear at the outset that I would never dream of doing anything like that. I have too much respect for our democracy to make a mockery of a political convention by using it to promote a movie — even a movie like “Am I Racist?“, which premiers September 13th, tickets on sale at AmIRacist.com. This whole thing had nothing at all to do with my film, “Am I Racist?,” premiering September 13th, tickets on sale at AmIRacist.com. Now that we’ve put that to rest, I’d like to explain why I did attend the DNC, and what I learned there. The honest truth is that I went to the event as part of my ongoing journey of self-discovery. That’s a journey that begins in the movie, but certainly doesn’t end there. I wanted to learn how to be a better anti-racist, a better citizen, a better human being. And what better place to do that than a convention with a baby killing bus right out front? I realize, of course, that I am not a popular figure in Democratic circles. I would go so far as to say that many of these people have a negative view of me. But I also knew that Democrats value tolerance above all. They embrace diversity and have a welcoming and loving attitude towards everyone. I took great solace in that, and knew that I would be greeted with the same spirit — especially because I was attending the event in my man bun and White Dudes For Harris shirt. That was my way of signaling that I am a member of the tribe. I am a safe person to have in their safe space. But this wasn’t just about bettering myself. I also wanted to alert the attendees to one of the greatest dangers lurking in the world today: Project 2025. Everyone has heard of Project 2025 but no one knows what it really is. The people at the DNC especially don’t know what it is. Which is why I brought some literature to educate them on the subject. More on that in a few minutes. First I’ll show you the wonderful conversation I had with someone shortly after I arrived at the convention on our first day. This was a lovely woman with pink hair and a COVID mask. We dialogued about many important issues, including racial justice: That was a great discussion. We seemed to be on the same page. We left on good terms. I was excited to walk around the convention and talk to many more people — many of them also wearing pink hair and COVID masks. But unfortunately after talking to one person, and having a completely civil and intelligent conversation — and even, dare I say, becoming best friends — I was nonetheless reported to security, escorted from the building, and told that I am banned for the rest of the week. Watch: What did I do to deserve that treatment? I came to learn and grow as a person and an ally. Instead I was thrown out into the cold. Why did they treat me like that? What did I do wrong? What were they trying to tell me? They said “please don’t come back,” but I knew that there must be a deeper message. I thought about it and I realized that “don’t come back” must have meant “don’t go back … to who you were before, don’t become your old self again.” They weren’t saying don’t come back physically to the convention. They were speaking metaphorically, poetically. So later that night I did go back. Only this time I had learned a valuable lesson. If you want to be welcomed in Left-wing spaces, it’s important to not talk to anyone or express any point of view at all, at any point. I knew that everything would be fine if I just walked onto the convention floor and blended in with the crowd. In fact you can see here in the footage that I’m not causing any trouble. I’m not talking to anyone. I’m not creating a scene. I’m walking around, sitting, listening, applauding. Everything was going well. But then, as I was venturing around and taking in the sights, I may have accidentally — entirely unintentionally, through no fault of my own — stumbled right into the middle of a CNN interview with Senator Chuck Schumer. Watch: Matt Walsh is a man on a mission to understand his internalized racism. Where better to do so than at the DNC? pic.twitter.com/jbQL9XqlY8 — Ian Miles Cheong (@stillgray) August 20, 2024 I know you see me walking in the direction of the live shot, plodding right through it, staring at the camera, then turning around and walking back in the same direction. You see that and you think that this was some ridiculous, immature, intentional attempt to photo bomb Chuck Schumer. Frankly, I’m offended by the mere suggestion. First of all, I’m in the media. I’m a professional. I would never photobomb anyone. Second, once again, I’m there to learn. Third, I’ve never been on the convention floor before. I didn’t know where I was going. I was confused. Regardless, this clip made its way to Twitter and next thing you know other people on the convention floor were taking pictures and posting angrily about my presence. A reporter from the Bulwark approached and asked if I was Matt Walsh. He recounts this exchange in an article on the site: “Walsh regularly dons a similar disguise to film gotcha moments for his “documentaries” lampooning progressives. For that reason, it wasn’t difficult to recognize him even on the crowded convention floor. I asked him if he was Matt Walsh. “No I’m not,” he said after a wide-eyed look. When I followed up with, “I know it’s you,” he replied: “That man is dead. I’m a new man now.”” I can confirm that is an accurate. And it was true. I was a new man. The security guard told me not to go back to my old ways. To change myself, to be transformed. He didn’t say that exactly, but that was his point. And I took it to heart. Nonetheless, next thing you know, I was trending on Twitter — on a night that was supposed to be Michelle and Barack’s big night. Photos of me began circulating. Lots of angry tweets were posted, like this one: “Fam, Matt Walsh is at the Dem convention posing as a delegate. DO NOT TALK TO HIM. Call him out! Tell security if you can. Please re-share to spread the word!! #hatemonger #fake #loser” There were hundreds of other tweets along these lines. The Democrats were frantically warning each other about me. They were on the look out. My man bun was suddenly like the dorsal fin in Jaws. I was the monster from the deep, swimming through the crowd of people. They were on edge, nervous, and very unhappy to have me there. The outrage continued on social media long into the night, well after the event had concluded for the evening. WATCH: The Matt Walsh Show I left that night feeling defeated. All I wanted to do was learn, evolve, and become a better ally. I didn’t want to cause any problems. I certainly didn’t want to draw attention to myself, or least of all my movie — “Am I Racist?,” premiering September 13th, tickets on sale at AmIRacist.com. I didn’t sleep much that night. I was tossing and turning, struggling with feelings of rejection. Would I ever be accepted as an ally? Would these people ever welcome me into their fold? The next morning I knew what I had to do. I’d already been kicked out and banned from the premises once. I’d been trending and caught accidentally on national TV. They didn’t want me there. That was clear. And I was going to respect that. I was not going to go back to the convention. So instead my team went back. They dressed in Kamala Harris gear, got new wristbands (because the old ones had been confiscated by security), and spent the afternoon handing out hundreds of fliers. I knew that I couldn’t be there in person, but I still needed to get the message out. I needed to warn the convention attendees about the radical Project 2025 agenda. They might not welcome me, but I still care about them. I’m concerned for their safety. So I had to let them know the truth about Project 2025, one way or another. I had been able to hand out a bunch of the cards myself, as you can see here, the day before. But I wanted my team to pass out hundreds more. I wanted to get these flyers circulating through the entire convention. The cards all have a simple message: Visit project2025.com to learn the truth about Trump’s radical plans for America. In fact, one of my producers, Ben, who also appears in the movie — “Am I Racist?,” premiering September 13th — had a chance to give a card to Don Lemon, and was even interviewed about the website: Now, I want you all to go to project2025.com yourself to read all of this important information. But for your edification, I’ll tell you what’s on the site. You can see here, it is beautifully designed. This is cutting edge graphic design. The most beautiful website you’d ever find in 1997. And right in the middle of the page is a trailer for my new film, “Am I Racist?,” premiering September 13th. From there you can click a link to find out about our next meeting, which takes you to a page to buy tickets for the film. If you click where it says “Make a DEIferance,” it will also take you to a page to buy tickets. Most of these links will take you to a page to buy tickets. Although if you click the audio link, this happens: Sorry, that must be some sort of mistake. That’s supposed to also be a page to buy tickets. Anyway, you get the idea. It’s all there. And it all promotes my movie. You might argue that this has nothing to do with Project 2025, but I would disagree. Because the best way to fight Project 2025 is to see my movie, “Am I Racist?,” premiering September 13th. So, my journey at the DNC may have been rough at certain points. There were some speed bumps along the way. But in the end I think we all came to understand each other. We grew together. We became better people. And now I know one simple truth — and it’s the same truth that everyone at the DNC now knows too — that “Am I Racist?,” premiers September 13th, and tickets are on sale at AmIRacist.com… or Project2025.com.

'SHARLIE, THE LAKE MONSTER' Reported by Idaho Witness

The witness and two friends swear that they observed a serpent-like cryptid floating on Payette Lake near McCall, Idaho. Could the legend be true?I recently received the following account:"Hi. In 1974 a close and dear friend and her sister saw a huge serpent creature on the southside of Payette Lake in McCall, Idaho. We were heading back to Boise from camping on the north side of the lake. Karen was driving and I was sitting directly behind her. Karen and I were looking out to to our left and saw this huge serpent on top of the water just floating. It was totally floating with its narrow and long head and a very long neck with 3 huge humps plus maybe more submerged, we didn't see the tail. It was on the opposite shore of the lake. (looked like a Dino, the Dinosaur Icon) Its body filled up the whole cove from across the lake.  It was gray, shiny, and looking in the easterly direction. We both just stared and she kept on driving. We both were having a cigarette with the windows down. I said, "Karen, do you see what I see?" She said, 'Yes! Yes!" Then, nodded vigorously. Her sister said '"What is that?" She refused to talk about it and was quiet all the way back home. We all were in fact.2 years ago my dear friend Karen passed away. We hadn't talked about our sightings since 1974. One day we decided to report it to a museum or historian to let it be known that 'Sharlie the Lake Monster' does exist and possibly today! Her sister still doesn't talk about our sighting. It scared her to pieces. I feel like we are blessed to witness such a sighting. But it did take many years to tell the world. We never heard of Sharlie before. Who would have believed 3 teenagers in 1974?One day I bought a Loch Ness magazine with stories of sightings from around the world including Idaho.  A year before my dear friend passed, I asked her if she would make an official statement with me to have our story in writing. Karen agreed and we tried to contact someone to help us post the sighting; to tell the world what we saw exists and is real! Can you help? Please let me know  Thank you, RH"NOTE: In Idaho folklore, Sharlie (Slimy Slim, The Twilight Dragon of Payette Lake) is the name given to a lake serpent much like the Loch Ness Monster that is believed by some to live in the deep alpine waters of Payette Lake near McCall, Idaho. Could Sharlie be real? Lon**********PHANTOMS & MONSTERS VIDEO LIBRARYPOLL: WHAT DO YOU THINK? BROWN, SCALEY LIZARD HUMANOID Encountered in the Chesapeake Bay

BROWN, SCALEY LIZARD HUMANOID Encountered in the Chesapeake Bay

An experienced sailor, along with 30-year US Navy Captain, witnessed a brown, scaley lizard humanoid rise to the Chesapeake Bay surface and blink at them. What did they see?“We were moving up the east coast of the United States to the Chesapeake Bay. I was working on a 41-foot sailboat out in the middle of Chesapeake Bay. There were seven other men on the boat that day, we were taking it out for a test cruise and were expected to be out for about 12 hours. So this was in the mid-1980s, and weather prediction resources weren't as reliable as they are today, and we found ourselves caught up in an unexpected storm. The winds were gusting to 50 miles an hour, edging into the weak hurricane range. But we were lucky. There was one particularly experienced guy on board who had sensed the storm approaching and that it was serious. So, we'd rigged the storm sounds just in time, just before the storm hit. If we hadn't I'm certain we would have all died. Well as it was I fully expected to die at any moment during that storm. We called for help and for at least 15 minutes, we were in a maelstrom, with absolutely zero visibility, and then, it passed. The storm was over. So by about 3 PM, everything had calmed down. There was still cloud cover but the ambient light allowed us to see about two miles or so in any direction. It's worth mentioning at this point that after fierce storms like that, it's common, particularly in shallower depths near land masses, for things to be dredged up off the sea floor. So,  we're all on deck working lines and checking for damage and the bay around us is still choppy, it's churning and foaming. Old-timey sailors use the saying, "The sea is confused." Anyway, I looked about 15 feet off the starboard side and saw something swim to the surface, pause and stare at us, or should I say, glare at us, then submerge again. I got a good look at it. It was like a thin man, definitely a humanoid shape. It was lean but it had muscular arms and its skin was covered in scales like a snake. Its head was human-like but its eyes weren't, they were big, with thick heavy lids. Now I noticed this because as it stared at us, it blinked them slowly, and deliberately, then dove back under the water.Let me just say at this point that I was not affected by drugs or alcohol, and I hadn't been injured in the storm. If anything, I was elated just to be alive so my senses were heightened not dulled. When this happened, I had about six years of experience on ships and fishing boats. I'd seen squid, octopi, flying fish, sharks, etc., in waters all over the world. I wasn't the kind of guy to see a patch of seaweed and think it was a sea monster, okay? That being said, I made an instant decision that I wasn't going to say anything to anyone. What was I going to say, "I just saw a strange humanoid aquatic monster, just take my word for it"? Well, the other men on the boat were mechanics and engineers and I had no desire to get a reputation as a flake. So I'm standing there in my life vest, soaking wet, hooked onto the steel lifeline, still feeling relieved to be alive and wondering what the hell I just saw, when one of the other sailors said "I just saw a brown thing pop up on the surface! It looked like a lizard man, with a scaly face. It blinked at us with these big eyes and then went back under!" "Yeah." I said, "I saw it too."  No one else said that they'd seen it, and to this day I'm surprised I blurted that out but, I think I got the courage because the other sailor, the one who saw it, was a United States Captain with over 30 years experience in the Navy. He was respected and liked by the crew and I guess that's what gave me the confidence.Later that day, we sailed back to the pier without speaking another word of what we'd seen in the water. To this day, I still don't know what it was. But, I know it wasn't a man. No man could have been out in that water and no man could have looked like the thing I saw. The thing that looked me in the eye that day.”Source: “Mermaid Encounters and Attacks Peaceful Diver.” Encounters with Strangeness.
