How To Make Friends And Create A Sisterhood

Although we are living in an around-the-clock, digitally connected world, we sometimes paradoxically find ourselves disconnected from each other. But it hasn’t always been this way. People in generations past — Boomers, for example — would drop by unannounced to visit friends on Sunday afternoons or host family dinners regularly to bring everyone together and catch up on life. Today, the art of true friendship has torn apart at the seams, leaving Gen Z as a whole ill-equipped to maintain meaningful relationships.  This was not a problem that showed up overnight, nor can it be linked to just one cause. We were the first generation raised online in a world of social media, we were locked down in a months-long pandemic on the cusp of adulthood, and we live in a time when lifestyles are as fast-paced as they’ve ever been. In general, Gen Z is made up of inside kids, so we grew up accustomed to socializing very differently than other generations. Objectively, this is less healthy because we don’t have as much face-to-face communication in real life, and we all know that is important to a healthy, happy, and long life. We have been called the lonely generation, a generation who tends to isolate. Gen Z simply doesn’t interact with people as much as generations before us, including Millennials. But regardless of the reasons, Gen Z not only has difficulty maintaining friendships, but they also voice concerns about even being able to find friends. And sometimes, the online world can make it appear as though everyone else has tons of friends, which just leads to more feelings of isolation and loneliness. Now, Gen Z is reaching adulthood, moving out, living alone, and asking a serious question: How do I make friends? I resonate with this question because, even though I wanted female friends as I was growing up, making girlfriends was a challenge for me. Part of this was because we moved quite often. I would make friends, keep them for about a year, and then move, so the friendship just withered away. I could never seem to make and keep solid female friends. I also had brothers so I grew up primarily around boys, and I was never much of a girly girl. Plus, I always found it easier to hang out with guys. WATCH: The Comments Section with Brett Cooper on DailyWire+ There was, however, another reason making girlfriends was difficult for me, though I didn’t realize it at the time. Even though I wanted female friends, I had a rather negative view of femininity. The traits I primarily noticed about girls were traits I didn’t like, especially the promiscuousness, gossipiness, and silliness. I didn’t want to be associated with those qualities, and I allowed them to taint my perspective in general. Now, however, I have learned those traits are not true of the gender as a whole. I’m no-nonsense by nature, but I realized I can embrace my femininity and be open to female idiosyncrasies. That change in perspective had to start with me, and when it did, I could see I had superficial ideas of what friendships were. I had to become more open and vulnerable, because in truth, being friends with women requires significant vulnerability. Having learned all this, my first suggestion to the question of how to make friends is: Say yes to everything. If there’s an invite, accept; if there’s an event, go; and if there’s coffee, drink. Join a running club, go to trivia nights, and attend work-sponsored happenings. Even if you think you would not be friends with the person doing the inviting, go anyway. You probably don’t know them well enough to make that decision yet, and you could also meet other potential friends at the events they’re inviting you to.  Be willing to put yourself in situations that allow you to meet people. In order to get out there, you must put yourself out there. It’s worth acknowledging this creates some discomfort, but if the desire for friends and struggle against loneliness outweighs being uncomfortable — which it absolutely should — then say yes. Be open. Be agreeable. Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW! Buy here for a theater near you. Second, take initiative. Girls love doing fun activities together. If you’re at a farmers’ market and there’s a girl standing next to you, strike up a conversation. If there’s a girl at work you think you’d like to be friends with, ask her to get lunch. As much as saying yes is a great attitude to begin with, reaching out and being the first to take initiative to connect is even more productive when it comes to making friends. I met one of my bridesmaids by randomly messaging her one day. She was a co-worker, and I had spoken to her exactly one time in the breakroom, but something about her made me think we could be friends. One weekend, a rodeo was going to be in town about an hour outside Nashville, so I just messaged her and asked her to go with me. That led to another rodeo and eventually a true friendship. She stood by me on the day of my wedding as one of my best friends. I don’t have sisters, so I had always assumed I wouldn’t have bridesmaids. But on the day I got married, our wedding party included six sweet friends of mine — only one of whom I have known longer than two years. Those six bridesmaids are proof that I was able to find friends and create meaningful relationships with them. Our fast-paced lifestyles aren’t always conducive to an afternoon meet-and-greet, and we scramble to even be able to FaceTime or send a quick text. Add to that the fact that fostering meaningful relationships is (and always has been) challenging, but even finding friends with whom to engage in those relationships can prove difficult. But friendship starts with you. It may require a perspective change, an open attitude, or a move with initiative, but the friends are out there — and they are looking for friends too.

Biden Claims Labor Union ‘Installing 500,000 Charging Stations’ For EVs. Fewer Than 20 Put In Place So Far.

On Monday night, speaking at the Democratic National Convention, President Joe Biden insisted that as part of his effort, the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers was installing 500,000 charging stations for electric cars across America. But recent reports show that fewer than twenty have been put in place so far. “Remember we were told we couldn’t get anything done,” Biden declared. “We couldn’t get anything done in the Congress. Well with your support, we passed the most significant climate law in the history of mankind. For $370 billion dollars, cutting carbon emissions in half by 2030, launching a climate corps, similar to AmeriCorps or Peace Corps creating tens of thousands of jobs for young people in the future who are going to make sure this continues.” “Creating hundreds of thousands of jobs in clean energy for American workers including the IBEW installing 500,000 charging stations all across America,” he claimed. Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW! Buy here for a theater near you. Joe Biden brags about building 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations. As of May, $7.5 billion has been spent — and only SEVEN chargers have been built. pic.twitter.com/nd83euSDZ4 — Townhall.com (@townhallcom) August 20, 2024 “The Biden Administration’s $7.5 billion effort to jump-start the electric-vehicle charging landscape is moving very, very slowly. Now more than two years after the program was signed into law in late 2021, only eight chargers have been put in place,” Autoweek reported in May, adding, “The allocated dollars are $5 billion through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program and $2.5 billion in Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) discretionary grant funding via the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act.” As far back as December 2023, POLITICO reported, “Congress at the urging of the Biden administration agreed in 2021 to spend $7.5 billion to build tens of thousands of electric vehicle chargers across the country, aiming to appease anxious drivers while tackling climate change. Two years later, the program has yet to install a single charger.” WATCH THE TRAILER FOR ‘AM I RACIST?’ — A MATT WALSH COMEDY ON DEI “The vast majority of chargers added in the US last year were bets by for-profit companies on the future of battery-powered driving,” Bloomberg noted in January. In contrast to Biden’s supposed effort, Elon Musk’s Tesla has been quite successful in its undertaking; as Reason Magazine pointed out at the end of May, stating that Musk’s company had a “network of Superchargers” that included “over 57,000 DCFC chargers around the world and generated an estimated $1.74 billion of revenue in 2023 alone. Just in the fourth quarter of 2023, the company built 357 new stations, accounting for 3,783 charging ports. … Around two-thirds of all public chargers in the U.S. are manufactured for Teslas.”

Another Lie: Tim Walz Did Not Use IVF To Start Family, As He’s Repeatedly Claimed In Attacks Against Trump Ticket

Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) has repeatedly used his “personal” story of using in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments to attack former President Donald Trump and Republicans on so-called “reproductive rights” — but it turns out that story is not true. The Kamala Harris presidential campaign confirmed this week that the Walzes did not use IVF to conceive either of their children. Instead, the couple used intrauterine insemination (IUI), which notably does not involve creating or discarding embryos. The difference is vital. Walz used his non-existent IVF journey as a political tool to attack the Right, suggesting his family would not exist if it were up to Trump, his running mate JD Vance, and Republicans. In fact, Walz recently said, “JD Vance opposing the miracle of IVF is a direct attack on my family and so many others.” The suggestion does not align with former President Donald Trump and JD Vance’s position on IVF in the first place, but it also rings hollow since IUI doesn’t discard embryos. Walz and the Harris campaign have repeated the false claim on numerous occasions to attack their opponents. In fact, in Walz’s first political rally after being tapped as the VP nominee by Harris, he used the false narrative. Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW! Buy here for a theater near you. “This gets personal for me and my family,” Walz said, suggesting IVF will be restricted under a Trump administration. “When my wife and I decided to have children we spent years going through infertility treatments. And I remember praying every night for a call for good news. The pit in my stomach when the phone rang, and the agony when we heard that the treatments hadn’t worked. So this wasn’t by chance that when we welcomed my daughter into the world, we named her Hope.” Here’s Walz two weeks ago in Philadelphia talking about IVF: “This gets personal for me and my family” pic.twitter.com/ElUSdMu4QO — Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) August 20, 2024 Walz echoed the falsehood during at least two other rallies; one in Wisconsin and one in Arizona, Grabien founder Tom Elliott highlighted: Here’s Walz in Wisconsin two weeks ago again claiming his kids were conceived thanks to IVF: “Some of you may have heard this. [IVF] is personal for my wife and I. When Gwen & I decided to have children, we went through years of fertility treatments. The phone would ring,… pic.twitter.com/CVOQcIPeLZ — Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) August 20, 2024 Here’s Walz recently in Arizona telling the same story, this time while pretending to cry: “I’m not crying you’re crying” pic.twitter.com/ugTb9NMF1e — Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) August 20, 2024 The Harris campaign amplified Walz’s fake story on its official X account, too. In one posted video clip, Walz says he “wouldn’t have a family” if it were up to Vance. Gov. @Tim_Walz: If it was up to JD Vance, I wouldn’t have a family because of IVF. Democrats are investing in prenatal care. We’re the ones that are for universal pre-K. We’re the ones that are providing school meals. I’m not gonna back down one bit on this whole family values… pic.twitter.com/jdbKmpuh4K — Kamala HQ (@KamalaHQ) August 9, 2024 “Governor Walz and Mrs. Walz have two children, Hope and Gus,” the Harris campaign further said, CBS News reported. “Governor Walz and Mrs. Walz struggled with years of fertility challenges and had their daughter, Hope, through reproductive health care like IVF — further cementing his commitment to ensuring all Americans have access to this care.” The Harris campaign wishes a happy IVF Day to everyone except for @JDVance pic.twitter.com/Oh8hITubWW — Kamala HQ (@KamalaHQ) July 25, 2024 Walz piggybacked on the post to repeat the falsehood and attack Vance. WATCH THE TRAILER FOR ‘AM I RACIST?’ — A MATT WALSH COMEDY ON DEI “Even if you’ve never gone through the hell of infertility, someone you know has,” Walz posted to X. “When Gwen and I were having trouble getting pregnant, the anxiety and frustration blotted out the sun. JD Vance opposing the miracle of IVF is a direct attack on my family and so many others.” Even if you’ve never gone through the hell of infertility, someone you know has. When Gwen and I were having trouble getting pregnant, the anxiety and frustration blotted out the sun. JD Vance opposing the miracle of IVF is a direct attack on my family and so many others. https://t.co/tWhQEPjft2 — Tim Walz (@Tim_Walz) July 25, 2024 And last month, again attacking Trump and Vance, Walz on MSNBC falsely claimed his family used IVF. “Today is IVF day. Thank God for IVF, my wife and I have two beautiful children,” the governor said, adding that Republicans need to “mind their own damn business.” THREAD: In addition to his military career & drunk driving arrest, there’s another topic about which @Tim_Walz has been lying for political purposes —the conception of his own children. Since IVF treatments entered the news earlier this year, Walz has been repeatedly claiming he… pic.twitter.com/hHdfSsiGaI — Tom Elliott (@tomselliott) August 20, 2024 Related: CNN Admits Tim Walz Campaign Lied About His Drunk Driving Arrest Numerous Times

BREAKING: 89-Year-Old Woman Convicted, Faces Over A Decade In Prison For Peaceful Pro-Life Protest

DETROIT—A group of Christian pro-life activists, including an 89-year-old survivor of a communist prison camp in Eastern Europe, face over a decade in prison after they were convicted on Tuesday in a federal trial in Michigan. A jury found Chester Gallagher, Heather Idoni, Joel Curry, Justin Phillips, Cal Zastrow, his daughter Eva Zastrow, and 89-year-old Eva Edl guilty of engaging in a conspiracy against rights and violations of the FACE Act. Edl was forced into a camp as a young child by Yugoslavian communist dictator Josip Broz Tito before fleeing to the United States.  The seven were prosecuted by the Biden administration, which has been using the conspiracy against rights charge, originally designed for the Klu Klux Klan, to go after pro-life activists. They face over 10 years in prison and hundreds of thousands in fines upon sentencing. The charges stemmed from a peaceful demonstration, which the defendants called a “Rescue,” where the group sat and stood outside of the Northland Family Planning Clinic in Sterling Heights, Michigan, alongside a group of other pro-life activists. Edl and Idoni were convicted on an additional charge for a pro-life protest they attended at the Women’s Health Clinic in Saginaw, Michigan.  The jury, composed of five men and seven women, began deliberating on Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. local time at the Theodore Levin Federal Courthouse in Detroit. They deliberated for just around three and a half hours. The case was overseen by Judge Matthew Leitman, an Obama appointee.  Throughout the trial, Edl said that it was her faith in Jesus and belief that suffering would strengthen her that kept her going. She said that going through trials was like the process of a blacksmith’s refining fire.  “We need suffering in our lives in order to be purified and not feel sorry about ourselves,” she said, adding that Christians should say “Hammer away, Lord, at that anvil.” The verdict comes after seven full days of arguments packed with tension and drama.  On August 9, a woman named Sarah gave testimony about her interactions with the defendants at Northland after she and her husband arrived for an abortion appointment after being told their unborn son would not survive outside the womb.  Sarah began to cry as soon as she walked into the courtroom and continued to cry throughout questioning from the government. At one point she was led out of the courtroom and she could be heard crying and wailing from the hall.  Lawyers for the defense said that the Justice Department was exploiting her pain and trying to manipulate the jury during their closing arguments on Monday.  Caroline Davis, one of the pro-lifers who was at Northland, was a key witness for the government. Her testimony took over a day, as she discussed her previous relationships with the defendants. She pled down her felony charge to a misdemeanor and has been a crucial witness for the Justice Department in multiple cases over similar protests, but has not yet been sentenced for Michigan.  Throughout the trial, Leitman repeatedly clashed with David Peters, the lawyer for Phillips. On Monday, he tried to bring up the history behind the conspiracy against rights charge, which was passed in 1870 to deal with groups like the Klu Klux Klan, not peaceful protesters.  The defense objected, and Leitman ordered the jury out of the room. He then criticized Peters for going “way over the line” and suggested he might hold him in contempt.  Later, Leitman grew upset with Peters after the attorney invoked John Adams’ remark that the Constitution was made for a “moral and religious people.” Leitman said that he was setting the stage for jury nullification, where a member of the jury votes not to convict based on a moral objection to the law. The prosecution for the Justice Department was led by U.S. Attorney Frances Carlson, Assistant U.S. Attorney Sunita Doddamani, and trial lawyer Laura-Kate Bernstein. They repeatedly said that the defendants were trying to force their Christianity on others, and that they violated a woman’s right to have an abortion.  Lawyers for the defendants emphasized that their clients’ primary goal was to “save babies from slaughter,” not to intimidate anyone. They also pointed out the peaceful nature of the incident at Northland and how their actions were motivated by their Christian faith.  This is the Biden administration’s latest attempt to sue pro-life activists using its novel interpretation of the “conspiracy against rights” statute. Previous groups have been found guilty of the charge in Tennessee and Washington, D.C. Some were sentenced to prison.

Texas Children’s Hospital Whistleblower On Child Sex Changes Says She Has Been Fired

The woman who blew the whistle on child sex changes at Texas Children’s Hospital says she has been fired. Nurse Vanessa Sivadge was one of several whistleblowers who reportedly revealed details about the Houston hospital performing sex change procedures on children as young as 11, as well as alleged Medicaid fraud related to sex changes for minors. Sivadge said she was fired on Friday “effective immediately” in a message to City Journal’s Christopher Rufo, who broke the story of her whistleblower allegations. Rufo posted her message to social media on Monday. “No regrets,” Sivadge posted in response. No regrets. https://t.co/0IgFUwPcCQ — Vanessa Sivadge (@V_Sivadge) August 19, 2024 I was fired for blowing the whistle on taxpayer dollars being used to cover cross sex hormones at the largest children’s hospital in the world. My family has taken a hit for speaking out and while I have no regrets, any help would be appreciated: pic.twitter.com/9pIcsCGZUC — Vanessa Sivadge (@V_Sivadge) August 19, 2024   Sivadge said back in May that she requested a religious accommodation to transfer from the endocrinology clinic to the cardiology clinic so that she would no longer have to participate in putting children on cross-sex hormones. Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW! Buy here for a theater near you. However, she was put on leave the day after her whistleblower allegations went public. Texas Children’s cited her claims and her request for religious accommodation, she said. “This is unlawful for two reasons: it is retaliation for my coming forward with information on TCH’s egregious pattern of deception and Medicaid fraud, and this action also illegally disregarded my request to transfer due to my belief that these procedures bring irreversible harm and lifelong regret to children confused about their sex,” Sivadge said. Sivadge said she would like to challenge her firing but is currently relying on donations from the public for her legal fees. Earlier this year, Sivadge went public with allegations that Texas Children’s was openly committing Medicaid fraud when it came to cross-sex hormones for children. “I saw some examples of providers who were intentionally misdiagnosing transgender patients for the purpose of justifying those cross-sex hormones,” Sivadge said during an appearance on “Relatable” with Allie Beth Stuckey last month. WATCH THE TRAILER FOR ‘AM I RACIST?’ — A MATT WALSH COMEDY ON DEI “A healthy, 16-year-old male was said to have an estrogen deficiency as the official diagnosis, and that then allowed the doctor to prescribe estrogen to this healthy boy, and vice versa with the female,” she said. “They were not trying to hide this,” Sivadge said. Other whistleblower accusations against Texas Children’s, the biggest children’s hospital in the country, involve providers inserting an implantable puberty blocker in multiple children, including an 11-year-old girl, City Journal reported last year. The other children who got “drug delivery implants” inserted were 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 years old, according to the medical records. Also, the hospital has “activist” doctors and a “culture of fear” around gender treatments for children, whistleblowers alleged.
