The trans–identifying creator of the viral TikTok trend “very demure” said all the attention and new followers will be used to help fund his “transition” surgery.  Jools Lebron, a biological man, is credited with starting the new trend of calling certain actions “demure.” Lebron’s social media videos have gone viral, with celebrity X accounts and the White House jumping on the “very demure” bandwagon.  The original clip was shared on TikTok in early August. It shows Lebron putting on makeup while narrating the process. “You see how I do my makeup for work? Very demure, very mindful. I don’t do too much. I’m very mindful while I’m at work. See how I look very presentable? A lot of you girls go to the interview, looking like Marge Simpson, and go to the job looking like Patty and Selma, not demure,” Lebron said.  Another activity the TikTok influencer described as “demure” included staying seated after an airplane lands.  Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW! The “demure” trend got so popular that Lebron posted a video about it, posting a reaction to negative commenters last week, “Hey bandeja, maybe you should — maybe you should make the videos. Maybe you should make the videos, because one day, I was playing cashier and making videos on my break, and now I’m flying across the country to host events, and I’m going to be able to finance the rest of my transition.” The influencer also celebrated the official White House X account using the “demure” wording to promote policy. “Cancelling [sic] the student debt of nearly 5 million Americans through various actions. Very mindful. Very demure,” the X post said alongside a smiling photo of President Joe Biden. Cancelling the student debt of nearly 5 million Americans through various actions. Very mindful. Reese Witherspoon described the latest season of her Apple TV series “The Morning Show” as “very demure.” Jennifer Lopez drank from a bottle of her Delola brand cocktail and described her actions as “very demure” and “very mindful.” Actor Penn Badgley made the same comments about playing a serial killer character on “You,” as did Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis while promoting their “Freaky Friday” sequel.  WATCH THE TRAILER FOR ‘AM I RACIST?’ — A MATT WALSH COMEDY ON DEI Lebron spoke with CBS Mornings about the definition of demure. “Your demure is what it means to you. It’s being mindful and considerate of the people around you, but also of yourself and how you present to the world,” the influencer said. “When I did start making TikToks, I found more girls like me. I found girls who are plus size who are trans, who are having the same experiences that come uniquely with that set of combinations.” Lebron concluded, “Your demure is what it means to you. It’s being mindful and considerate of the people around you, but also of yourself and how you present to the world.”

The Democratic National Committee released its 2024 platform on Sunday just before the kickoff of the party convention in Chicago this week, and it still names President Joe Biden as the party’s nominee. The DNC said that the platform was passed by the Platform Committee on July 16, just five days before Biden announced the end of his campaign and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris. Democratic Party delegates will vote on the Biden-centered policy platform at the convention on Monday evening despite Democrats rallying behind a new candidate. “President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats are running to finish the job,” the DNC platform states. “To grow our economy from the middle out and bottom up, not the top down. To reward work, not wealth. To lower costs. To tackle the climate crisis, lower energy costs, and secure energy independence. To protect communities and tackle the scourge of gun violence. To secure the border and fix the broken immigration system. To advance the President’s Unity Agenda. To strengthen American leadership worldwide.” Harris and her running mate Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz have been criticized for staying quiet on specific policy positions during the first few weeks of their presidential campaign. The Harris campaign website still does not have a policy platform. Based on the 92-page DNC platform, it appears Harris will run on policy promises identical to those that would have been pushed by Biden. Tickets for “Am I Racist?” are on sale NOW! Buy here for a theater near you. The DNC platform focuses on addressing the economy and “lowering costs” for health care, prescription drugs, gas, groceries, and housing. The economy and inflation have remained a primary concern for voters heading into the 2024 election, and Harris is in an awkward position as the sitting vice president running for president as gas and grocery prices remain higher than during the Trump administration. Harris even admitted that grocery prices have increased under the Biden-Harris administration but blamed companies unfairly “price gouging.” Last week, the Democratic nominee laid out some economic policy goals for her administration if she wins in November, pushing food price controls and federal handouts to first-time homeowners. Harris was blasted by Republicans, including her opponent Donald Trump, who called her ideas “communist.” The DNC platform’s position on higher grocery costs sounds similar to arguments made by Harris, blaming corporate “price gouging.” WATCH THE TRAILER FOR ‘AM I RACIST?’ — A MATT WALSH COMEDY ON DEI “President Biden will keep calling those companies out for price gouging, and hold them accountable when they don’t pass savings on to consumers,” the platform adds. The DNC platform also calls for “tackling the climate crisis” and praises Biden for “delivering on the most aggressive climate agenda in history.” On abortion, the platform hits Trump for appointing three Supreme Court justices who helped overturn Roe v. Wade and states, “President Biden, Vice President Harris, and Democrats are fighting back to restore reproductive freedom for every woman in every state.” On gender issues, the party’s platform touts Biden’s protecting “transgender Americans’ access to health care and coverage, including medically necessary gender-affirming care.”

Between the total solar eclipse and the widely viewed aurora borealis this year, 2024 is proving to be full of rare celestial events. Soon, we can add August’s full moon to this growing list. Although a monthly full moon isn’t unique in and of itself, there are two reasons why this one is different than most. First, there’s the fact that this will be a supermoon. This name indicates that the moon will be closer than normal — within 90% of its closest approach to Earth, to be more specific. This fact is cool alone, but it also means we’ll be getting spectacular views. Not only will the full moon appear to be much larger, it’ll even shine brighter. If you’ve seen supermoons in the past, you’ll understand why they’re such a beautiful sight to behold. But the size and brightness aren’t the only reasons to be excited for tonight’s full moon — it’s also a blue moon! Ganapathy Kumar / Unsplash Understandably, hearing that name might make you imagine the moon, quite literally, being the color blue. But the name has nothing to do with its appearance. Instead, it indicates a rarity in the number of full moons in a season. Usually, we get three. But every two to three years, we’ll see four. When this rarity does happen, the third full moon of the season is called “blue.” Why is the August Full Moon Considered to be Especially Spectacular? Both a supermoon and blue moon are rare events — but both of them happening at the same time is exceptionally rare. In fact, this event takes place every 10 to 20 years, with the next expected all the way in January 2037. No wonder this is such big news! Although this rare blue supermoon became visible last night, tonight (Monday, August 19), will be the peak viewing time. As usual, we’ll need to wait until the sun rises. To find out exactly when the moon will rise in your area, check out this cool calculator. Enter your location in the search bar then look for “moonrise” time. Have fun and stay safe!
