“X-Men ’97” creator and head writer Beau DeMayo claims he was fired from the Marvel series earlier this year for posting about gay pride, but the company recently issued a statement refuting that charge following some posts DeMayo made on social media. “Mr. DeMayo was terminated in March 2024 following an internal investigation,” the studio said in a statement, per Variety. “Given the egregious nature of the findings, we severed ties with him immediately and he has no further affiliation with Marvel.” A source told the outlet that DeMayo was accused of sexual misconduct and also violated his termination agreement. Those charges were not officially confirmed. DeMayo shared his thoughts in a social post on Thursday night. Like so many other businesses, Marvel leaned into Pride month this year just like in years prior. The entertainment company released a series of Pride-focused comic book covers throughout the month of June featuring LGBTQ characters. The company also posted on social media throughout June to celebrate Pride month. DeMayo frequently tweeted about “X-Men ’97” on his personal social media account, revealing details and storylines there. He also advertised a non-explicit OnlyFans account and posted topless photos of himself. The LGBTQ publication Out named DeMayo, “the Sexy, Gay Marvel Showrunner and Writer to Know” in 2022.

Vice President Kamala Harris admitted on Friday that grocery prices were lower under former President Donald Trump than under the Biden-Harris administration. Speaking to supporters in Raleigh, North Carolina, Harris addressed the rising costs of groceries and unrolled a proposal to control food prices similar to tactics used by the Soviet Union that led to massive food shortages. While making the case for the federal government to get involved in regulating food prices, Harris acknowledged that the cost of a loaf of bread is up 50% compared to “before the pandemic” — when Trump was in office. “As president, I will take on the high costs that matter most to most Americans like the cost of food,” Harris said. “We all know that prices went up during the pandemic when the supply chains shut down and failed, but our supply chains have now improved, and prices are still too high. Donald Trump Jr. called out a reporter on Friday for posting a misleading clip of Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) speaking a few years ago about immigration. Reporter Jacqueline Sweet posted a clip on X from an interview that Vance, who is Donald Trump’s vice presidential running mate, gave in 2021 where he was asked about what negatives can come from large waves of immigration. In the clip posted by Sweet, Vance talked about large waves of immigration from Europe to the U.S. over a hundred years ago, specifically Italian, German, and Irish immigrants. “And that had had its problems, right?” Vance said. “It had its consequences. You had higher crime rates. You had these sort of ethnic enclaves developing. You had interethnic conflict in the country where you really hadn’t had that.” However, the clip cut off Vance before he said that the U.S. adjusted to the problem by slowing immigration down for a while so that those communities could assimilate into the American fabric. We were terribly scared!The creature immediately grabbed the girl's body and took off at an amazing speed then just disappeared. There were about 15 divers in the water. When we got to the shore we couldn't speak for over two hours. Scared beyond imagination. When we told the people what happened they said some of the other divers said they saw the same thing.The elders in the community began telling us stories about the same creatures from long ago way before electricity came to our village.
