Intel is set to release its Core Ultra 200 CPUs based on the Arrow Lake architecture in the next couple of months, but the exact architecture and plan for the next generation of chips after these haven't been publicly nailed down. A new leak, though, suggests that Intel will skip its upcoming Panther Lake architecture for desktops and jump straight to the following Nova Lake design, mirroring how Intel never released its recent Meteor Lake architecture on desktops, instead keeping them only for laptops and other mobile devices. This could mean that once the new Intel Arrow Lake CPUs arrive and battle for their place on our best gaming CPU list, we could be waiting for two whole CPU architecture development cycles before a new, even faster product arrives. The Lenovo Legion Go is currently available for its lowest-ever price, a milestone no doubt inspired by the recent success of the Asus ROG Ally X. Despite having the same AMD Ryzen Z1 Extreme APU at the core of each device, the Ally X brings far more power to the table at a very similar price, meaning Lenovo has blinked and found a new, lower floor for its deal pricing. While neither headset can quite topple the Steam Deck as the best handheld gaming PC, it's great to have some meaningful competition in the market. Image: The Verge Paint 3D, once Microsoft’s biggest update to its Paint app, is being removed from the Microsoft Store later this year and no longer supported. The app was originally released as part of Microsoft’s focus on creators with Windows 10 and was even set to replace the original MS Paint at one point. “Paint 3D is deprecated and will be removed from the Microsoft Store on November 4th, 2024,” reads a support note from Microsoft. Users of the app will also see a banner inside the app warning them about the end of support. Microsoft is recommending Windows users install its 3D Viewer app if they need to view 3D content. In a post on Monday, Patreon says Apple is forcing the platform to use the company’s in-app payment system starting in November or “risk being kicked out of the App Store.” As part of the change, creators will need to switch to Patreon’s subscription billing method to keep earning money through the platform’s iOS app. That means Apple’s 30 percent commission will apply when a new membership is initially purchased, as well as each time it’s renewed. I'll remind you that you should absolutely get an iPhone 16 variant if you want to take advantage of the Apple Intelligence features coming via an iOS 18.1 upgrade later this year. That makes the iPhone 16 series unique. None of the old iPhones that Apple will continue to sell after the iPhone 16 launch event will support Apple Intelligence. The iPhone 15 Pros will be discontinued, and they are the only current iPhones that can handle Apple Intelligence right now. You might be waiting for the iPhone 16 phones to launch so you can buy a cheaper iPhone 15 or iPhone 14 variant. Apple routinely discounts older models when the new generation arrives. I'd tell you that's a sound strategy, but the iPhone SE 4 stops me from recommending an iPhone 15 or iPhone 14 purchase this September.
