Born with a disability: scientists reveal Tutankhamun’s true appearance

The researchers used CT scans, genetic analysis, and digital models to create a true 3D likeness of the pharaoh. Tutankhamun is one of the most famous pharaohs of Ancient Egypt, who ascended the throne when he was only 9 years old, reports Express. Pharaoh Tutankhamun was worshiped as a god-like figure more than three millennia ago. He was buried wearing an ornate gold mask in a tomb containing a large number of valuable artifacts. Scientists uncovered evidence of a hip deformity and a club foot. (Image: BBC 1) As was customary among the ancient Egyptians, his face was painted on the mask in which he was buried. Judging by this mask, the pharaoh had strong cheekbones, arched eyebrows, full lips, and a sharp jawline. Using new 3D imaging techniques, scientists were able to perform a “virtual autopsy” of Tutankhamun’s body and reveal his true face. Through computed tomography, genetic analysis, and digital models, scientists created a digital image of the pharaoh that is as close to reality as possible. According to previous theories, Tutankhamun was an attractive young man before he suffered a facial injury, either from falling from a chariot or from an attempt on his life. But new research disproves this theory. It shows that “King Tut” was born with deformed facial features and a pronounced malocclusion. Researchers now believe King Tut likely had a severe overbite and numerous physical disabilities. (Image: BBC 1) In addition, scientists concluded that the fracture, which was previously considered an injury received during chariot competitions, occurred after the pharaoh’s death. Furthermore, recently discovered physical ailments of Tutankhamun suggest that his health would not have allowed him to take part in sports competitions. Researchers believe that the young pharaoh suffered from serious health problems throughout his life. Scientists have found evidence of twisted, deformed hips and club feet in Tutankhamun. This means that the boy king had to walk with a cane. The authors of this discovery suggest that a possible reason for the pharaoh’s physical defects could be incest. Genetic testing showed that King Tut’s parents were likely brother and sister to each other. In Ancient Egypt, marriage between family members was not uncommon. For example, Tutankhamun himself married his half-sister. The post Born with a disability: scientists reveal Tutankhamun’s true appearance appeared first on Anomalien.com.

Law enforcement no-show reportedly abandoned roof due to heat, leaving Trump exposed to would-be assassin

A law enforcement officer assigned to guard the roof from which a would-be assassin fired at former President Donald J. Trump abandoned the post due to hot weather, U.S. Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) said July 22. In a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Hawley said whistleblowers who approached his office said a specific individual was assigned to guard the roof of Building 6 at the American Glass Research complex just north of the fairgrounds where Trump was shot July 13. “There was supposed to be a law-enforcement presence on the roof that day,” Hawley wrote. “In fact, the whistleblower alleges that at least one individual was specifically assigned to the roof for the duration of the rally, but this person abandoned his or her post due to the hot weather.” According to AccuWeather, the temperature in Butler on July 13 reached a high of 91 degrees. The FBI said Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pa., shot Trump with an AR-15-style rifle from the roof of Building 6, about 130 yards from the podium where Trump was speaking to tens of thousands of supporters. Only a perfectly timed turn of his head milliseconds before the bullet arrived prevented Trump from suffering a massive head wound and instant death. The bullet sliced across the top of Trump’s right ear, causing him to flinch and drop to the ground. 'Was there a stand-down order, Ms. Cheatle? Was there a conspiracy to kill President Trump?' Multiple investigations launched since July 13 are seeking to determine how Crooks was allowed to access the roof and get six or more shots off before he was killed by a Secret Service counter-sniper. Crooks was spotted by a local police counter-sniper and flagged as a suspicious person at 5:10 p.m., according to a report from Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), a member of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs. The committee oversees the Secret Service, which is part of the Department of Homeland Security. Two photos taken by the counter-sniper at 5:14 p.m. showed Crooks standing along a retaining wall on one end of Building 6. At 5:32 p.m., the counter-sniper spotted Crooks looking at his phone and using a range finder, ostensibly to estimate the distance to the Trump podium. At 5:38 p.m., the counter-sniper informed his sniper group about Crooks. Two minutes later, he was told to “call in to command” regarding the suspicious person, according to Johnson’s July 21 report. At 5:41, he called the command center with a description of Crooks, who was “lurking around [the] AGR building.” At 5:49 p.m., the counter-sniper sent the photos of Crooks to the Butler Emergency Services Unit command. A confirmation of receipt was not issued for six minutes, Johnson’s report said. 'We’re supposed to trust her investigation? Truly disgraceful.' At 5:59 p.m., a Beaver County operator received confirmation that the command center, “which included Secret Service,” was aware of the messages and asked which direction Crooks was moving. At 6:05 p.m., the local counter-sniper reported that Crooks was moving northeast carrying a backpack. Even though bystanders near Building 6 shouted that Crooks was shimmying up the slightly sloped roof with a rifle at least two minutes before shots were fired, neither police nor Secret Service ground teams intercepted him. In a U.S. House hearing on Capitol Hill, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle was repeatedly grilled about what time her agents determined that Crooks was no longer just suspicious but a direct threat to Trump and rally-goers. She eventually said it was mere “seconds” before Crooks fired the first shot. Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle hammered at Cheatle to resign. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) asked whether a stand-down order was given in order to kill Trump. "The people there knew that there was a danger, there was a threat to President Trump, and it was allowed to happen," Greene said. "Was there a stand-down order, Ms. Cheatle? Was there a conspiracy to kill President Trump?" Cheatle replied: "Absolutely not." Johnson said the director trotted out nothing but tired excuses. “Cheatle is using ‘it’s only nine days out’ as an excuse for not having basic information that should have been known within hours,” Johnson wrote on X. “And we’re supposed to trust her investigation? Truly disgraceful.” Like Blaze News? Bypass the censors, sign up for our newsletters, and get stories like this direct to your inbox. Sign up here!

How ballot tricks could flip red states blue

America’s founders believed direct democracy was a slower, more indirect path to tyranny. To prevent this, they avoided establishing an “elective despotism” and designed a system that filtered democracy through representative legislatures. Popular ballot initiatives didn’t exist until the Progressive Era in the early 20th century. Now, progressives use ballot initiatives to turn red states blue, including a proposal to abolish primaries altogether. What is the Republican Party’s response? As Democrats work toward creating a permanent political majority at the national level, their extremism has intensified popular backlash in nearly half the states, making them even redder. Currently, Republicans hold trifectas in 23 states and de facto trifectas in 26 states, including Kansas, Kentucky, and North Carolina, where Republican super-majorities override Democratic governors. In most of these states, Democrats are relegated to a permanent, irrelevant minority in statewide office and legislative control, and, in many, Democrats are barely visible within the state. Many ballot initiatives are filled with convoluted language and confusing double negatives, making the 'yes' and 'no' outcomes unclear. This expanding sea of dark-red states threatens the dominion of Marxists because their policies depend on unanimous opinion and cannot abide stark opposition. If Republicans were truly a conservative party, the contrast between states would become so pronounced that maintaining the Democrats’ culture of anarcho-tyranny and chaos outside their urban core would be nearly impossible. For years, Democrats have limited the shift to the right in red states by collaborating behind the scenes with fake Republicans who subvert red-state values and cater to special interests. They would occasionally appease conservatives on issues like life or guns to keep them at bay. With the rise of the State Freedom Caucuses and grassroots takeovers of many state Republican parties, however, Democrats are losing their ability to campaign in red jerseys but govern from the center-left. The success of Gov. Ron DeSantis in Florida, once a purple state, has inspired activists in much redder states to ask, “Why can’t we achieve the same in Idaho?”Fear not, because Democrats never give up and have a plan for every contingency. Last decade, they used clever campaigning and substantial funding to abolish primaries in Alaska, creating a jungle primary system with ranked-choice voting. This system essentially fosters a "no labels" dynamic, allowing covert Democrats, with the help of subversive establishment Republicans, to block conservatives from winning closed partisan primaries and then use a convoluted formula to defeat them in a ranked-choice general election ballot.Well, why would they limit their successful model to Alaska and not try it out in the other 20-plus red states? A left-wing astroturf group called “Idahoans for Open Primaries,” led by former “Republican” Gov. Butch Otter, successfully turned in enough signatures earlier this month to place the Alaska model of ranked-choice voting on the ballot in November. If successful, this proposal will abolish Republican primaries and allow an array of undocumented candidates to run slick ads to fool voters into supporting RINOs like Otter as the only option for the general election.According to Ballotpedia, 10 states including Idaho have statutorily banned ranked-choice voting, but left-wing activists working with phony Republicans are using the initiative process to change their state’s constitution. Starting in the upcoming legislative session, all red states must make initiative petitions much harder. One proposal would require uniform signature gathering across the state or mandate that the ballot question achieves a 50% or 60% threshold in every congressional district. This would prevent liberals from running up the score in urban areas to change the entire state. If we don’t defeat ranked-choice voting and limit initiative petitions, liberals will use convoluted ballot language to turn red states blue without winning elections. This is how they are codifying a right to abortion up until birth in every state they attempt. They will use this tactic in every state on any number of controversial issues.Consider Missouri. While Donald Trump and Republicans are poised to win in a landslide statewide, they could be saddled with laws passed via ballot initiative to impose a $15 minimum wage and abortion until birth. Many ballot initiatives are filled with convoluted language and confusing double negatives, making the “yes” and “no” outcomes unclear. This allows monied interests to manipulate the people. Our founders understood that direct democracy equates to the elites deciding everything. As John Jay, the first chief justice of the United States, aptly warned, “Pure democracy, like pure rum, easily produces intoxication, and with it a thousand mad pranks and fooleries.”
