Takei targets Trump for character assassination

Which sci-fi veteran is proving more embarrassing to his franchise? Is it Mark "Luke Skywalker" Hamill or George "Lt. Sulu" Takei?Takei is still posting “Trump is Hitler”-style rants on X as if the former president didn't almost take a bullet in the head Saturday night. Hamill, not to be bested, has stooped to mocking the bandage on Trump’s ear at the RNC gala in Milwaukee. Both are clearly operating in a galaxy far, far away from the prevailing mood in America. Oh, well: The search for intelligent life among the Trump-deranged continues. Gotta give ‘em points for honesty. The creators behind “The Apprentice,” the feature-length hit piece on Donald Trump, are desperate to debut their film prior to Election Day.The film, which debuted at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this summer, is in limbo for several reasons. One: Studios aren’t eager to buy it, with some citing its polarizing nature. Two: Producer Dan Snyder is a Trump fan and somehow didn’t realize his film is hyper-critical of its subject matter.Three: Trump has threatened to sue the team behind “The Apprentice” over its unfair depiction of him. Case in point: The film shows Trump (Sebastian Stan) raping his then-wife Ivana Trump. Except she claimed it never happened prior to her 2022 death.Team “Apprentice” better figure something out if they want to sway the voters. October surprises aren't nearly as effective when you save them until December.Welcome back, Axel! “Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F” is a hit for Netflix. The fourth film in the “Cop” saga – and first in 30 years -- screams big-screen summer blockbuster. Instead, it was up to the streamer to give star Eddie Murphy one more crack at his iconic character.Audiences are eating it up. The film is still atop Netflix's Top Movies chart following its July 3 release with a total of 22.2 million views, according to Deadline.com.Why? We’re addicted to sequels, full stop. Plus, “Axel F” has a distinct “Top Gun: Maverick” vibe. Full-on nostalgia. Beloved actors returning to the franchise. Respect for both Axel Foley and his ‘80s frame of mind. It’s a simple formula. Why Hollywood doesn’t lather, rinse, and repeat it is beyond us.Turns out the corporate culture at Disney is far from G-rated. Internal Slack messages James O’Keefe snagged from the Mouse House reveal some curious extracurricular antics. Think naked bike rides, swinger meet-ups and tips on name changes during sex transitions. In Disney’s defense, employees can do whatever they wish, assuming it’s legal, in their personal time. It still explains a lot, no?Actor John Leguizamo isn’t a journalist, but he plays one for “The Daily Show.” He’s taken a shine to his fake news duties, if his X account is any indication. The “Ice Age” actor tried to peddle a conspiracy theory surrounding the Trump assassination attempt. He shared a picture of Trump on X that showed no damage to the president’s ear. Gotcha, Orange Man Bad!“Not even a scratch! But milk it for all you can!“ he cried. The bigger picture? Team Trump staged the shooting … even though several people were hurt in the melee and one died from injuries sustained at the Pennsylvania rally.Except the picture is from 2022.He previously shared a post claiming documents prove Trump committed serial child rape as part of the Epstein scandal. Suffice it to say if such documents existed, the mainstream media would be eager to cover it.Nonetheless, the intrepid non-reporter continues to chase after his scoop. A certain saber-toothed squirrel and his ever-elusive acorn come to mind.Hillbillies are having a moment thanks to President Trump.“Hillbilly Elegy,” the stirring 2020 adaptation of vice presidential candidate JD Vance’s best-selling memoir, is a hit on both Netflix and Amazon. The Ron Howard film got pummeled by critics upon its release. The story follows a young Vance balancing family strife and his collegiate ambitions. How polarizing is it? Glenn Close earned an Oscar nomination and a Golden Raspberry nod for her portrayal of Vance’s wily Mamaw.Makes you wonder what other movies are trending thanks to the presidential race. "Weekend at Bernie's," anyone?

MSNBC Hosts FUMING and threatening to quit over THIS

Following the attempted assassination of Donald Trump, MSNBC decided to pull “Morning Joe” hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski off the air until the initial smoke surrounding the incident cleared. The decision was apparently made in order to protect the network from any possible “inappropriate” comments that might have been made on their show regarding the former president and the failed assassination attempt. “Do you realize how insane that is?” Dave Rubin of “The Rubin Report” asks, adding, “They have this ridiculous show with all of these Democrat activists. We’ve pointed out all the hypocrisy and, just weeks ago, lying, saying that people were effing idiots if they didn’t think Joe Biden was smarter than ever.”“But basically, the most important day of his career,” Rubin continues, “the Monday after an assassination attempt, they’re like, you know what, you’re actually not very good at your job, and they pulled him off the air.” The “Morning Joe” pair then addressed their absence — which was only one day — and they were not happy. “We were very surprised, we were very disappointed, and if we had known that there wasn’t going to be the one news feed from NBC news across all NBC news channels,” Scarborough explained, “we obviously would have been in yesterday morning.” “And let me just say, next time we’re told there’s going to be a news feed replacing us, we will be in our chairs. And the news feed will be us, or they can get somebody else to host the show,” he threatened. “Oh, what a threat,” Rubin jokes. Want more from Dave Rubin? 'What a s*** show': Pat McAfee torches his own network over 'terrible' ESPN top 100 athlete list

ESPN's top podcaster Pat McAfee criticized an ESPN list of top athletes as one of the worst things he has ever seen on the network. The former NFL punter did not pull any punches when going after his own network's list of the best athletes since 2000.The ranking of 100 athletes had only been partially released when McAfee started his show revealing his plans to trash the list:"There is a top 100 list that is coming out from ESPN's people and I'll tell ya what, it is the epitome of everything that everybody hates about ESPN," McAfee stated. "What they chose to do about ranking the top 100 athletes of the 21st century ... what a s*** show.""What an absolute, terrible list," the former player added, before saying he planned on blaming guest of the show and former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky for the ESPN project.'Is this the dumbest thing of all time?'McAfee's contract with ESPN is a reported $85 million over five years, making him at least one of the highest paid personalities on the network. This hasn't stopped him from causing a stir on the Disney-owned channel, however. His frequent interviews with controversial quarterback Aaron Rodgers have been coupled with criticisms of network brass, with McAfee seldom shying away from expressing his views. To his point, some of the obvious flubs on the list include placing A'ja Wilson, a 27-year-old WNBA champion at No. 90, ahead of Super Bowl winner Aaron Rodgers (91), Hall of Fame pitcher Pedro Martinez (92), and legendary soccer player Ronaldinho (94).Furthermore, No. 56-ranked Spanish female soccer player Alexia Putellas was placed ahead of several soccer greats, including Zlatan Ibrahimović (95).She was also shockingly far ahead of tennis legend Venus Williams (86), WNBA pioneers Candace Parker (60) and Lisa Leslie (74), and Jon Jones (66). Jones is a multi-weight UFC champion who is considered the greatest of all time by many, with only one loss coming from an illegal strike. The list is sure to please almost no one with strange rankings of nearly unknown female basketball players, skiers, and even cricket players. Somehow, they are put in the same realm as athletes like Barry Bonds (38), Derek Jeter (53), and Alexander Ovechkin (54).About 20 minutes into "The Pat McAfee Show," McAfee asked Orlovsky, who is now a notable analyst, how he felt about the attempt to make a definitive list like this."How do you feel about this list? Is this where you kind of sit it, and is this the dumbest thing of all time to kind of take the ideas of a slew of people and try to make it as if it's one person's concept?" McAfee asked.ESPN's methodology basically consisted of "experts in individual sports" being asked to rank the top athletes in their sport since January 1, 2000. The rankings were then reevaluated by another "panel of experts."Orlovksy responded by saying that the whole conversation surrounding a list of who is the top athlete, or, in particular, the top quarterback, needed to be "altered.""I've been on this for I feel like a couple years now but certainly this offseason ... the whole top five/top 10 quarterback conversation probably needs to be altered," he remarked. He went on to say that lists of this nature inevitably result in certain players being left off because the necessary parameters are not being considered.Orlovsky went on to declare that the way the media talks about quarterbacks is unfair and overlooks some of the fundamental talents that make a good play-caller.Like Blaze News? Now’s the best time to try out newly updated war MMO Foxhole

Foxhole has always been one of the most unique games in the MMO space. Unlike genre mainstays World of Warcraft, Final Fantasy 14, or Lost Ark, Foxhole looks outside of the fantasy realm for inspiration, basing its online play on a grim chapter of real world history, with enormous clashes between armies fought in a setting that resembles World War II battlefields. This has always made it a compelling concept, but, thanks to a new patch that further refines and adds onto the base game and its Naval Warfare update, Foxhole is drumming up even more interest on Steam. Instagram will help researchers study if it’s hurting teen mental health

Illustration by Alex Castro / The Verge Instagram will let a select group of researchers access its data to study how the platform affects the mental health of teens and young adults. The pilot program, launched in partnership with the Center for Open Science (COS), could produce independent studies that offer insight into the relationship between social media and a teen’s well-being. Researchers will gain access to Instagram data for up to six months, which may include information on how many accounts a teen follows, how much they use Instagram, their account settings, and more. However, Meta notes it won’t provide access to a user’s demographic information, nor will it include the contents of their posts, comments, or messages. New opportunity! Meta and COS have opened...
