Here are a handful of Prime Day tech deals you can nab for $50 or less

Amazon’s latest Fire TV Stick 4K Max, which can showcase artwork and widgets when idle, is down to just $34.99 for Prime Day. | Image: Amazon Amazon Prime Day has officially arrived, bringing with it an abundance of deals spanning all price points and categories. And while many of the steepest discounts in the world of tech are reserved for premium noise-canceling headphones and TVs, there are still plenty of budget-friendly gadgets and gizmos on sale for those looking to pick up cheap(er) basics, fitness bands, or one of several AAA games for the Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X / S, or PlayStation 5. The bulk of the sub-$50 highlights below are currently exclusive to Amazon Prime subscribers, though, in some instances, retailers such as Best Buy and Walmart are matching Amazon’s pricing. That means, regardless of where you choose to shop, there are still ways to save on an... Continue reading…

Hands-on with the all-new iOS 18 Photos app

iOS 18 brings the biggest redesign ever to the Photos app. Whether you just downloaded the public beta of this upcoming operating system or you're looking forward to trying it for yourself, BGR has been testing iOS 18 since day one of the developer's beta. Now, we can offer readers a hands-on look at the all-new Photos app, including the new features, tweaks, and more. iOS 18 Photos app's new features All-new design: Forget about the sidebar. The new iOS 18 Photos app focuses on a single view with everything you need. Scroll down to see your collections, media types, memories, trips, albums, and more. Scroll up to see your library. New Carousel: Swipre right from the grid to access the new Carousel, which highlights your best content in a beautiful, poster-like view. It displays a new set of photos each day for a fun surprise. Image source: José Adorno for BGR Trip albums: iOS 18 now intelligently creates albums for your trips. You can find it in the down part of your app, and it's a nice way to find your latest travels. Wallpaper Suggestions: At the bottom of iOS 18's Photos app, you get wallpaper suggestions from Apple using on-device machine learning to analyze your gallery. Image source: José Adorno for BGR Collections: Collections automatically organize your library by topics like Recent Days, Trips, and People & Pets. Pinned Collections gives you lightning-fas access to the collections or albums most important to you. Better settings: When you tap your Apple Account photo in the upper right corner of the Photos app, you can find the app's settings. You can opt to hide the Shared Album Activity or the Hidden Album. You can also choose not to auto-play videos and live photos or view full HDR. iOS 18 even lets you decide whether you want to see holiday events and featured content as well. Image source: José Adorno for BGR Improved search: Before searching for a specific photo or memory, Apple also suggests some possible queries, such as dinner with your mom, that trip you made last year, or pictures with your pets. Hide and lock app: Although this is a system-wide feature, I love that I can lock the Photos app with Face ID and, ultimately, hide it on my iPhone. If you have a working phone or usually have sensitive media, being able to lock it is better than using the hidden album, which can be accessed with a passcode. Photos app's first impressions At first, iOS 18's all-new Photos app seems to have a lot going on. However, Apple actually found a better way to display an ever-growing library of photos and videos. I especially enjoy the new Trips section, which made me realize I should travel more often. The Recent Days collection is also a nice way to easily find that photo you took recently. Finally, "People & Pets" got the premium spot it always deserved. After naming all the faces from my library, seeing a more customizable experience is nice. Image source: José Adorno for BGR I also find it easier to search for the images I want, and it's nice that Apple removed the screenshots in the main gallery. Once Apple Intelligence is available, the Photos app in iOS 18 will get even more features, so I can't wait to try them out and share my thoughts with you. Wrap up So far, this is everything new with the Photos app in iOS 18. BGR will make sure to share more with you once we learn new details about this update. Below, you can discover other features of iOS 18. New Dating Places the First European Hominids in Southern Iberia

One of the most significant controversies in the study of human evolution and migration is determining when and by what route the first hominids arrived in Europe from Africa. Recent geological dating techniques applied to the Orce sites in the Baza basin, Granada, Spain, have discovered human remains that are approximately 1.3 million years old. This finding supports the hypothesis that humans may have entered Europe through the southern Iberian Peninsula via the Strait of Gibraltar, rather than returning to the Mediterranean through Asia.  Read moreSection: NewsEvolution & Human OriginsRead Later

Kelly Ripa Calls Mark Consuelos A “Monster” After Interaction With Fan

Kelly Ripa Calls Mark Consuelos A “Monster” After Interaction With Fan

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have been an iconic television couple since meeting in 1995 on All My Children. Today, they’re co-hosts of Live! With Kelly and Mark, but Ripa’s new co-host has exhibited some behavior that’s had her call him an outright monster in front of their audience in the middle of a little something they call Stump Mark. What did he do to bring the soap opera drama to daytime talk shows? Last year, Ryan Seacrest parted ways with Ripa on Live! and is now taking over Pat Sajak’s job as host of Wheel of Fortune. Seacrest and Ripa aired their final episode together on April 14, and three days later saw the first episode featuring Consuelos in the co-host chair. They’ve been married since ‘96, but Ripa has some strong objections to Mark’s new habit on their show. Consuelos is showing no mercy and will not be stumped under any circumstances HOPE AND FAITH, ‘The Marriage, Part 1 & II’, (Season 3), 2003-06, photo: Eric Liebowitz / © Touchstone Television / Courtesy Everett Collection A little over a year later, Consuelos has already become a main fixture of Live! With Kelly and Mark. He is even the center of a new activity on the program: Stump Mark, which pits the Riverdale alum against an audience member in a game of wits. The prize: a mug and a T-shirt. RELATED: Mark Consuelos Gives Update On Kelly Ripa’s Stance On Retirement Unfortunately for participating contestants, Consuelos is good. Very good. So good, in fact, more often than not, he is the winner. It’s a trend that didn’t take Ripa long to clue into, and since everyone loves an underdog story, she quickly pledged her allegiance to Mark’s opponents, cheering for any opportunity for her husband to be dethroned at last. But one occasion, in particular, had Ripa downright insisting Consuelos be defeated, or else he was nothing but a monster. Kelly Ripa tried to stop Mark Consuelos from becoming a monster towards one inspiring contestant Kelly Ripa called out her husband Mark Consuelos for being a monster towards one of their most wholesome fans / YouTube screenshot Enter North Carolina native Molly Galvin, who squared off against Mark and offered up two statements; one was a genuine fact about herself, and the other was a total fabrication. Molly said she has “been a social worker for five years” and that  she “fostered five children the last five years.” Which is the truth? Mark had the chance to make an informed guess by asking Molly questions about each claim. All the while, he had Ripa very vocally hoping for his downfall, now more than ever, because at the end of the day, one of these noble claims would be the truth. As far as Ripa was concerned, “If you rob her of her mug and T-shirt, you are a monster!” Stump Mark gives fans the chance to win a special mug and T-shirt / YouTube screenshot For this particular round of Stump Mark, Consuelos asked about her supposed five foster children and about her experience as a social worker. Based on what he heard, Consuelos guessed that she was, indeed, a social worker. To Ripa’s outrage, Consuelos had been right. She made her disapproval very clear, so much so that Consuelos quickly tried to soothe her with an “Ok, ok,” while the audience took Ripa’s side. Ripa shook her head and replied in resignation, “Just arguing with Mark over what a monster he is…I’m distracting myself.” Maybe another new host is in order, one who will show mercy to the admirable when mugs and shirts are on the line!
