The man who was killed at a campaign rally for former President Donald Trump is being hailed as a hero for taking action in his last moments to protect his family.  The victim was identified on Sunday as firefighter Corey Comperatore, per NBC News. The 50-year-old Pennsylvania native was struck by a bullet during an assassination attempt on Trump. Governor Josh Shapiro (D-PA) said during a press conference that Comperatore died a “hero.” “His wife shared with me that he dove on his family to protect them,” Shapiro said. Corey Comperatore. Shapiro described Comperatore as a “girl dad” and pillar of the community. “Corey was the very best of us, may his memory be a blessing,” the PA governor said. “Last night was shocking for this community and for this commonwealth, and I know, for this country,” Shapiro went on. “Political disagreements can never, ever be addressed through violence. Disagreements are OK, but we need to use a peaceful political process to settle those differences.” The victim’s sister, Dawn Comperatore Schafer, wrote in a Facebook post that Corey “was a hero that shielded his daughters.” She added, “My baby brother just turned 50 and had so much life left to experience. Hatred has no limits and love has no bounds. Pray for my sister-in-law, nieces, my mother, sister, me and his nieces and nephews as this feels like a terrible nightmare but we know it is our painful reality.” Allyson Comperatore, who identified herself on Facebook as the victim’s daughter, also posted about the tragic event.  “Yesterday time stopped. And when it started again, my family and I started living a real-life nightmare,” she wrote. “He was the best dad a girl could ask for.” “The media will not tell you that he died a real-life super hero,” Allyson continued. “They are not going to tell you how quickly he threw my mom and I to the ground. They are not going to tell you that he shielded my body from the bullet that came at us.’  “He loved his family. He truly loved us enough to take a bullet for us,” she added. Trump posted about his condition Saturday night after it was revealed that the bullet grazed the top of his right ear. “I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin,” he shared on his social media app, Truth Social. “Much bleeding took place.” The presidential candidate wrote in a follow-up post that “it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening.” “In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win,” Trump wrote.

Authorities found explosives in the car of the 20-year-old would be assassin of former President Donald Trump on Saturday after he opened fire on Trump at a political rally in Pennsylvania. Law enforcement also found bomb making materials at the home of the suspect, identified by the FBI as 20-year old Thomas Matthew Crooks, according to the AP. Crooks, who had donated to far-left causes, used a firearm that was purchased by his father, The Wall Street Journal reported. Police set up a blockade near the suspect’s home in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, preventing traffic from going anywhere near the home as law enforcement executed search warrants. Multiple neighbors told The Daily Wire on condition of anonymity that police had knocked on their doors to ask questions and in some cases advised the neighbors to leave their homes. Police also received multiple reports of suspicious packages near Crook’s body after he was shot and killed on the rooftop where he was firing at the president from several hundred feet away. As shots rang out, Trump grabbed his ear — a journalist captured a photograph of what could have been the bullet after it hit Trump and traveled past his head — and Secret Service shouted, “Get down! Get down! Get down!” Trump dropped to the ground as he was tackled by Secret Service, where he remained until the gunman was neutralized by law enforcement. Before they moved him off the stage, Trump yelled at the agents: “Wait! Wait! Wait!” Then, looking at the thousands of supporters who showed up, he raised his fist and shouted: “Fight! Fight! Fight!” The FBI and local law enforcement said at a press conference that the Secret Service, who did not show up the media event, was ultimately responsible for what happened. “They conduct the initial site survey,” said Kevin Rojek, special agent in charge of the FBI Pittsburgh Field Office. “They do the initial security assessments and determine where the different security locations should be. And they’re the ones who are in charge of securing the scene. We along with other state and local assets are there to support the Secret Service and their mission.” At least one Trump supporter in the crowd was killed and two more were seriously injured during the attack, the U.S. Secret Service said in a statement.

Former Trump national security adviser John Bolton said during an interview this week that President Joe Biden is effectively insulting his party by refusing to drop out of the presidential race. Bolton made the remarks during a CNN interview when asked if Democrats should replace Biden and if they have enough time to replace him. “Yeah, I think there are two points here,” said Bolton. “The message that President Biden basically gave to the Democratic Party yesterday evening was ‘Suit up, lemmings! I’m going off the edge of the cliff and you’re coming with me!'” “Now, if that’s what the Democrats want to do, you know, they will elect Trump, they’ll also help elect a lot more Republican senators and House members,” he said. “There is nobody who can guarantee that that debate failure or something similar to it will not occur in September or October, and everybody knows that. And at that point, the Democrats will not have any option. They will be stuck. Actress Amanda Seales is being slammed for alleging that the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump at a campaign rally on Saturday was “staged.” The 43-year-old star stated her theory in a video that was shared on X. “That was more staged than a Tyler Perry production of Madea Runs for President,” Seales says in the clip. “I lived in Harlem long enough to know gunshots do not sound like making popcorn on the stove,” she continued. “Pop, pop, pop. Where’d the blood come from? So in theater, in movies, they have what’s called blood pellets,” the actress went on. “People used them at Halloween. It’s basically a pellet of fake blood that’s in your mouth and when you crush it blood comes out.” “To be frank, small hands Trump, would not respond by raising his fist in the air triumphantly were an actual attempt made on his life,” Seales said. “This was, I believe, done to try to show his strength counter to Biden’s fragility,” the actress said to explain why the event would be faked. She concluded by quoting the 1990 romantic drama “Ghost” starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore. “My God. Molly, you in danger girl,” Seales said in closing. The actress received criticism online for making the remarks.  “She has no empathy, no compassion, nothing. A person DIED, 2 are fighting for their lives @amandaseales but it was ‘staged,’” one person wrote.  “An innocent man who attended the rally, to support his candidate is dead you unbelievable, idiotic piece of human garbage,” another commenter shared. A third echoed, “What about the dead people? Was that fake too[?]”  Sky News Australia host James Macpherson also called out the Hollywood celebrity. “These people are so consumed with hate that they’ve lost all contact with reality, haven’t they?” he said.  Journalist Brad Polumbo agreed that what Seales was suggesting was a “grotesque and irresponsible conspiracy theory with no basis in reality.”   The man killed at the rally was identified Sunday as 50-year-old Pennsylvania firefighter Corey Comperatore. State governor Josh Shapiro gave a press conference and described the victim as “a hero” who dove onto his family to protect them when bullets started flying. Comperatore was killed while two other rally attendees were critically injured following the assassination attempt. Trump was struck at the top of his right ear by one of the bullets.
