President-elect Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he has selected retired Army Lieutenant General Keith Kellogg to serve as Assistant to the President and Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia. “Keith has led a distinguished Military and Business career, including serving in highly sensitive National Security roles in my first Administration,” Trump said in a statement. “He was with me right from the beginning!” “Together, we will secure PEACE THROUGH STRENGTH, and Make America, and the World, SAFE AGAIN!” Trump added. Kellogg wrote in a policy paper at the institute that Russia’s war in Ukraine was “an avoidable crisis that, due to the Biden Administration’s incompetent policies and rejection of the America First approach to national security, has entangled America in an endless war.” He said the administration’s “risk-averse pattern in the armament of Ukraine coupled with a failure in diplomacy with Russia has prolonged the war in Ukraine, which now finds itself in a war of attrition with Russia.” He wrote that the U.S. plans to seek “a cease-fire and negotiated settlement” to bring the war in Ukraine to an end. “The United States would continue to arm Ukraine and strengthen its defenses to ensure Russia will make no further advances and will not attack again after a cease-fire or peace agreement,” he said. “Future American military aid, however, will require Ukraine to participate in peace talks with Russia.”

However, meteorologists will know a better time frame for your area tomorrow. So be sure to check out the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center after dinner. The auroras may be pale, so, as always, it’s best to travel outside of the city and away from any light pollution to get the best views. Your smartphone can also capture the colors better than your eyes. If the Northern Lights are faint, hold your camera to the sky and snap a few photos for a closer look. According to Northern Lights Canada, the sun reached its peak—or solar maximum—in its 11-year cycle this year, which makes the Northern Lights more common throughout the rest of 2024 and part of 2025. Iconic gun manufacturer Smith & Wesson said that Facebook suspended its account indefinitely and thanked Elon Musk for preserving free speech on the X platform. The company posted a screenshot of the notice from Meta, the parent company of Facebook. 'We want to thank @elonmusk and @X for supporting free speech and our constitutional rights.' "Despite our extensive efforts and resources spent on trying to adhere to Facebook’s ever-changing community guidelines on firearms, our account was suspended indefinitely on Friday, November 22nd, 15 years after its original creation," the company wrote. The gunmaker said it was working to reinstate the account that had more than 1.6 million followers. "In an era where free speech and the right to bear arms are under constant attack, we want to thank @elonmusk and @X for supporting free speech and our constitutional rights guaranteed by the 1st and 2nd Amendments," the company added. Musk responded to the post. "We restored the gun emoji and believe in the Constitution," he wrote with gun emojis added. The 170-year-old gun manufacturer cited restrictive Democratic policies when it moved in 2023 from Massachusetts to Maryville, Tennessee. The president and CEO of the company said the move came with an investment of $125 million and the creation of 800 jobs. Facebook had been accused of interfering in elections by selectively choosing with news articles would gain prominence on the popular social media platform.
