Dramatic video footage from Milan Malpensa Airport showed a ‘severe tail strike’ impacting a LATAM Airlines Boeing 777-300. “The Boeing aircraft is seen performing the rotation too early making the tail to strike the runway for 10 seconds before finally climbing,” AIRLIVE wrote. WATCH: Per AIRLIVE: As the tower noticed the pilots, the B777 climbed to 6,000 ft before circling for about one hour. It landed back at Milan on runway 35R one hour and 9 minutes after departure. The aircraft reportedly suffered significant damage and has been grounded since. This type of accident can cause significant damage to the aircraft structure, compromising its integrity and safety. During a tail strike, the lower part of the rear fuselage, including the tail, suffers a direct impact with the ground, causing abrasions, deformations and, in more serious cases, failure of the structure. The Milan incident is the latest in a series of aviation mishaps to occur this week.
