Take A Step Back 100 Years With These Vivid Colored Photos

Even though it's impossible to go back in time, thanks to the invention of photography, it is possible to take a very real look at the past. When picture taking was first invented, it was only possible to take photos in black and white. Everything changed in 1907 when Auguste and Louis Lumiere came up with autochrome. Now, take a look at some of the earliest, and most vivid pictures taken from... Source

Sanctuary Cities—A Dangerous Game We All Lose: The BorderLine

All across America, people are feeling the effects of four years of mass immigration parole programs and the release at the border of millions of aliens we know nothing verifiable about. Many aliens head for big cities that have adopted “sanctuary” policies, whereby their police officers and prosecutors don’t cooperate with federal authorities on immigration enforcement. The most common outcome of this noncooperation is that when Immigration and Customs Enforcement issues a detainer asking local law enforcement to hand over a suspect or convict rather than cut him loose, they ignore it——putting their own citizens in peril. The consequences of this are playing out in the news every day. On Nov. 21, 20-year old Venezuelan illegal alien Jesus Alberto Pereira Castillo was charged with raping a 14-year-old girl in Denver, Colorado. Castillo appears to have entered the United States illegally in September 2023, after which he was most probably released with a notice to appear in immigration court. ICE has filed a detainer notice with Denver authorities, but with Denver Mayor Mike Johnston determined to keep his city a sanctuary for all aliens, including criminals, they might not hand him over. In New York City a few days earlier, another young Venezuelan named Brandon Simosa was arrested and charged with sexually motivated robbery and burglary. At 2 a.m. on a Sunday, a female lawyer from the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office caught him in her apartment building with his pants down. The young man exposed himself to the woman and took her phone. New York City Police say Simosa is a member of Tren de Aragua, the vicious Venezuelan gang that has spread throughout the United States. Not surprisingly, given Alvin Bragg is New York’s district attorney, police said Simosa has already been arrested six times this year for charges including assault and robbery. Like Castillo, it looks like he arrived illegally and was either released at the border or paroled into the country. Simosa, seen smirking as he was arrested, is just one of untold numbers of existing criminals allowed in under the Biden administration’s open border policies and encouraged to come to New York City by blank checks for housing, income, health care, education, and other services Americans don’t get for free. Once in a sanctuary city with a rogue, left-wing local prosecutor, they can commit crimes with little fear of timely prosecution, let alone incarceration. On Nov. 20, Jose Ibarra, yet another illegal immigrant from Venezuela and likely Tren de Aragua associate, was convicted for the murder of Georgia nursing student Laken Riley. Deborah Gonzalez, the district attorney in charge of prosecuting the case, took the death penalty off the table for Ibarra. Gonzalez said she was “unapologetically a Democrat” and “a progressive prosecutor” and her policies were tilted toward offenders over victims. She even pledged to “take into account collateral consequences to undocumented offenders,” meaning she was willing to go easy on illegal aliens so they don’t get deported. But how is making Americans unsafe and denying them justice “progressive”? Maybe that’s why Gonzalez lost reelection to independent Kalki Yalamanchili by a landslide in this November’s election. In Chicago on Oct. 26, an illegal alien from Mauritania in Western Africa named Sidi Mohamed Abdellahi apparently identified targets before deliberately shooting a Jewish man on the Sabbath. Under President Joe Biden, thousands of people from Mauritania, a poor African country where both modern slavery and terrorist group al-Qaida in the Islamic Maghreb still thrive, have been allowed to enter the U.S. with no verification of their identity or background checks from their home country. In Herndon, Virginia, a woman was allegedly raped on Nov. 18 on a popular biking and walking trail by Denis Humberto Navarette Romero, an illegal alien from Honduras. Despite a history of nude flashing and sexual assault, Romero kept getting released thanks to local policies that favor offenders over their victims. Americans keep being told by the legacy media that illegal alien crime isn’t a thing, but the police chief in Herndon said it was the only “stranger rape” in her 12 years in office. She said Romero “has continued to reoffend” yet is released every time. It seems like for progressive prosecutors and sanctuary cities, an offender has to kill someone before they care. Under the Trump administration, enforcement of immigration laws will recommence with gusto. In the 1980s Kurt Russell movie “Escape from New York,” Manhattan was an open-air prison full of criminals where civilization stopped and mayhem ruled. If they are not careful, this will be the fate of sanctuary cities. As more helpful jurisdictions are cleaned up, the worst illegal immigrant offenders will head for the places that will harbor them. States and cities that prefer coddling their illegal residents over protecting their voters and taxpayers will earn the rewards of their policies—both on the streets and at the ballot box. Chaos in Pakistan as Internet Blackouts Are Used To Suppress Protests

If you're tired of censorship and dystopian threats against civil liberties, subscribe to Reclaim The Net. Pakistan is experiencing political turmoil, with reports on Tuesday saying that supporters of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan had “stormed” the capital in a bid to get him released – with troops deployed, and news of casualties. Ahead of the march, organized by the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, the authorities moved to try to control the situation by partially disrupting access to the internet in general, but also reportedly, to a number of messaging and social platforms. Related: Internet Blackouts Backfire as Protests Escalate in Bangladesh This is a controversial, not always successful, but popular tactic often used in countries where governments face wide-scale political protests, meant to prevent participants from organizing online. On Monday, users across Pakistan were reporting internet outages, and difficulties in accessing WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and other apps. While the authorities said they planned internet shutdowns in security-sensitive areas, there has been no official word on the disruptions affecting users of said social platforms, with reports now speculating they are meant to disrupt the protest. The problems faced by users accessing apps could be one of the consequences of the blackouts or a case of deliberate targeting of their functioning. The local press is quoting users as saying that the internet was so slow they were apparently able to log in to their accounts – but found it “nearly impossible” to share media files. Downdetector on Monday confirmed that the internet was slow overall, with users in Pakistan finding it difficult to access social networks. Some of those affected by these developments see it as an example of censorship that prevents users from accessing information and violates their freedom of expression – and this is happening just as those in power are using the same platforms they are making unavailable to many citizens. As the security situation appears to be deteriorating on Tuesday, the likelihood of more stringent measures to throttle the internet and prevent online communications is also growing. Meanwhile, some of the users facing these problems are pointing out that besides the political and censorship implications, having first made many key sectors internet-dependent – now effectively cutting people off from it represents a serious disruption to their everyday lives. Mystery Drones Continue to Hover Over U.K. Military Bases

The U.S. Air Force (USAF) reported on Tuesday that more drones had been sighted near bases used by U.S. forces in the United Kingdom. However, the drones have not been identified as hostile. “We can confirm there were sightings yesterday (Monday) during nighttime hours,” a spokesperson for the USAF in Europe said in a statement shared by the 100th Air Refueling Wing at RAF Mildenhall in eastern England. The spokesperson added that the number of drones varied and fluctuated between the bases throughout the night. The drones have been intermittently spotted at three bases since November 20: RAF Mildenhall, RAF Lakenheath, and RAF Feltwell. According to a previous statement from the USAF, “small unmanned aerial systems were spotted in the vicinity of and over Royal Air Force Lakenheath, RAF Mildenhall and RAF Feltwell between Nov. 20 and Nov. 24.” These drones differ in size and design. The USAF clarified on Tuesday that the drones have not disrupted residents or infrastructure at the bases and reiterated that they “have not been identified as hostile.” Nevertheless, the drones are “continuously being monitored to ensure the safety and security of the installation.” A USAF spokesperson told CBS News, “I can confirm the situation is still ongoing, and our units continue to monitor the airspace and are working with host-nation authorities and mission partners to ensure the safety of base personnel, facilities, and assets.” The UK’s Ministry of Defense said it takes “threats seriously” and is supporting the USAF’s response. According to BBC News, about 60 British troops have been deployed to the bases to help the U.S. identify the source of the drones. While no specific country or group has been identified as responsible for the drones, several U.S. adversaries, including Russia and Iran, have been accused of increasing espionage and sabotage activities in Europe this year. And yet, no one can explain who is flying drones over such critical military sites. Isn’t it strange? WATCH: Walmart CEO Quizzed on CBS After Ditching Woke DEI Policies

One day after political commentator and podcast host Robby Starbuck announced that Walmart had agreed to distance itself from radical diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) practices, a high-ranking Walmart executive chose to do a legacy media interview. Here’s how that went.   The CEO of Walmart U.S., John Furner appeared on the Nov. 26 edition of CBS Mornings and immediately fielded questions from the show’s co-hosts Tony Dokoupil and Gayle King about the changes. Dokoupil mentioned that Walmart has decided to ensure that no racial discrimination takes place in the name of supplier diversity and that it will end its Center for Racial Equity. But when asked about Why Walmart made the changes, Furner made clear that Walmart was prioritizing customers and said nothing about the demands of the radical left. “What we're trying to do is ensure that every customer, every associate feels welcome here to shop and feel like they belong,” Furner said, emphasizing the use of the term “belonging” by his company. “We're going to continue to make the best decisions we can that makes everyone, our customers, our associates, feel like this is an environment they can shop in and thrive in.” The day before the interview, Starbuck wrote in a post on X that Walmart had agreed to stop supplying data to the radical LGBTQ+ pressure group the Human Rights Campaign, to drop the terms DEI and Latinx and to make several moves to protect children from gender theory and avoid racial discrimination and race-based harassment. According to Starbuck, these changes included abandoning “racial equity training,” declining to extend its Racial Equity Center, and ensuring that there is no racial discrimination in “supplier diversity programs.”  Starbuck also said that Walmart would try to root out any “inappropriate sexual and/or transgender products marketed to children” while reviewing any “Pride” funding to “avoid funding inappropriate sexualized content targeting kids.”  MASSIVE news: Walmart is ending their woke policies. I can now exclusively tell you what’s changing and how it happened. Last week I told execs at @Walmart that I was doing a story on wokeness there. Instead we had productive conversations to find solutions. Below are the… pic.twitter.com/BD02xJQ0X2 — Robby Starbuck (@robbystarbuck) November 25, 2024 During the CBS interview, King asked Furner, “Is diversity among your suppliers still important to you at Walmart?” While Furner did not address the actual changes, he cast supplier diversity in terms of working with small suppliers rather than discriminating against white or male suppliers.  Walmart is only the most recent company to move against DEI. Since June 27, Ford, Toyota, Molson-Coors, Tractor Supply, Harley-Davidson, Jack Daniel’s parent company Brown-Furman, Stanley Black & Decker, Caterpillar and Lowe’s have also stepped away from DEI and the HRC.  As more and more companies reform after Starbuck’s anti-discrimination anti-gender theory campaigns, leftist pushback has fallen on deaf ears. After HRC president Kelley Robinson tried to ostracize a number of companies for abandoning her organization, she suffered the additional humiliation of losing a company she had recently praised for loyalty to her leftist brand.

Al Sharpton's MSNBC Appearances Reduced After Harris Campaign Payment Scandal

Longtime MSNBC host and race huckster Al Sharpton has seen his guest appearances on MSNBC cut nearly in half, following a scandal involving undisclosed payments from the Kamala Harris campaign. According to The Washington Free Beacon, the Harris campaign shelled out $500,000 to Sharpton’s non-profit, just weeks before his October 20 softball sit-down with the Vice President. The Free Beacon’s Chuck Ross wrote that “Sharpton did not disclose payments from the Harris campaign during either segment with the candidate,” Naturally, both Sharpton’s non-profit (National Action Network) and MSNBC declined to comment. MSNBC was so excited about Sharpton’s interview that they promoted it at least 17 times in the four days surrounding it, according to a review of Nexis and SnapStream transcripts. Three of those instances involved a guest appearance by Sharpton himself, in which he fielded questions about his conversation with Harris and accepted praise for his marvellous work. Sharpton has been a recurring character on the liberal cable network, not only on his own program, but also as a routine guest on shows like Morning Joe and Deadline: White House. From October 1 through November 11 (the day before the Free Beacon’s exposé broke) he enjoyed 30 guest spots on other MSNBC shows. By contrast, since November 12, he’s had just six. That means that before the Harris campaign’s massive payments to him were exposed on November 12, he had just over 0.7 guest appearances per day (or one every 1.4 days). Since the scandal broke, that figure has dropped to just 0.4 per day (one every 2.5 days) — about a 43 percent decrease. The likeliest explanation for this discrepancy is that MSNBC’s higher-ups are embarrassed by the scandal, and thus they’ve reduced Sharpton’s presence on their airwaves in order to avoid reminding viewers of it. But this change looks more like an attempt at damage control than a gesture of contrition. In fact, every aspect of MSNBC’s handling of this case demonstrates a wild disregard for journalistic standards. They ignored the story for days, then pleaded ignorance and moved on. Sharpton’s guest appearances may have decreased since this scandal broke, but he’s still around, and he still has his own show. His prevalence on the network will probably return to its normal rate within a month. It looks like MSNBC’s plan is to ignore this story until it goes away.
