Woman With Dementia Still Has Strong Memory of Jesus and His Love

An elderly woman with dementia has no problem remembering Jesus and His love for her. Watching a loved one age and battle health problems is very challenging. It's gut-wrenching to watch someone we love deteriorate right before our eyes, knowing there is nothing we can do to ease their pain and suffering. Most would do anything for them, including switching places if possible. RELATED: Devoted Husband Treats Wife with Dementia to the ‘Best Day She Can Have' Every Single Day The aging process is often brutal and unforgiving, and it impacts us all. It robs us of our hair, mobility, hearing and sadly, even our memories. Dementia can turn someone who was once sharp as a tack, with a lightning-quick recall, into an individual who cannot remember their own children or even what they had for dinner the night before. Woman With Dementia Remembers Jesus A clip posted on social media shows an 88-year-old woman who is battling late-stage dementia. Throughout the video, the elderly woman's daughter asks her a series of questions, testing her memory and ability to remember simple facts. RELATED: They Combined a Preschool for Kids with a Dementia Care Home and Got Heavenly Results The woman off-camera asks the 88-year-old if she knows her mailing address. She also asks her what she had for lunch that day and what color shirt she wore yesterday. To all of those questions, the woman has no idea, unable to remember and correctly answer any of those questions. However, near the end of the clip, the woman behind the camera asks the 88-year-old, "Who is Jesus?" "Well, Jesus is the one who saved me and lives in my heart and will take me home," she said. "I love Him," the woman adds. What a beautiful and moving, but at the same time, heartbreaking clip. Senior Biden Official: Ukraine’s Too Corrupt to Join NATO

According to a senior US official speaking anonymously to the Telegraph, Ukraine is too corrupt to join NATO. We are told Ukraine is saving democracy, and we’ve given them over $100 billion. We are treating them almost like a NATO country with a proxy war. The official told the Telegraph that additional steps must be taken […] The post Senior Biden Official: Ukraine’s Too Corrupt to Join NATO appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

I Fled The Country To Find Purpose, And Unexpectedly Came Back With An 8-Year-Old Son

Grieving Pregnancy Loss “Six months before we met him, I had gotten pregnant on an IUD. Although the news was shocking at first, we quickly became thrilled over this unexpected miracle of life. But soon after adjusting to the fact that our foursome of a family was to become a fivesome, I was diagnosed with an ectopic pregnancy. The doctor had given me a shot of chemo in order to save my life. It was an excruciating ordeal, both emotionally and physically, that took its toll on me and my little family. The miscarriage that followed was long and painful. My hair fell out. I sat on my couch and cried for a solid month. I couldn’t understand why our hearts had been stretched to welcome a baby, just to lose it. Courtesy of Jaci Ohayon I took a leave of absence from my career as a United States immigration attorney after a particularly horrific asylum trial that took place during the same time period. I just couldn’t figure out how to face a world that watched while such terrible things happened to humans and then closed its eyes when they asked for help. I was miserable and heartbroken, so much so that it was painful to smile. I felt like the weight of the world was on my shoulders. There was so much grief and sadness in me, and so much grief and sadness in the world. So, I fled, full force, to the Dominican Republic where I was hiding out on the beach, teaching English and waiting tables while licking my wounds and questioning my purpose in life. My husband assured me I would find my way through this dark time and go back to my career when I was ready, but I wasn’t so sure that he was right. Meeting My Future Son One day, while my little family was at lunch, we saw a boy throwing his much too big flip flops into the ocean and then swimming after them. When he came back to shore and walked by our table, we invited him to have pizza with us. He sat down, immediately, and respectfully waited for us to serve him a slice. We tried to speak with him in Spanish, but when he didn’t reply, we switched to French. I noticed that his beautiful teeth were whiter than the clouds over our heads. I also noticed that my heart exploded when we met him, as if it already knew him. Courtesy of Jaci Ohayon Throughout the next several months, he hung out with us when he wasn’t shining shoes, pushing our kids on the swing or helping us pick out the perfect spot for a picnic. My family primarily spoke English, but his mother tongue was Haitian Kreyol. So, we communicated using a mixture of Spanish, French, and charades. Since he had never been to school, we worked on teaching him math, and he met with our kids’ French tutor a couple times a week to improve his French. When his Mama showed up on my doorstep, with a small garbage bag of clothes and a toothbrush, asking me to take him in and show him how to be a man with a future, I told her no. For so many reasons, there was just no way that I could assume this role…but my heart had already said YES! Courtesy Jaci Ohayon Expanding Our Family As an immigration attorney, I knew that the chances of getting him to the United States to attend school were limited, but with the help of a congressman and a senator, we were able to secure his visa. He didn’t know how to read, write, or speak English, but worked extremely hard and never ever complained. Courtesy Jaci Ohayon That amazing young man is now studying business and engineering in college while attending a soccer academy with his heart set on going pro! Having the opportunity to attend school in the United States has changed his life. Courtesy of Jaci Ohayon Courtesy of Jaci Ohayon By being able to pull himself out of poverty, he has also been able to change and bless other people’s lives around him, including his family who is cheering him on from Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Finding Purpose Sometimes, I still grieve the baby that I never got to hold and then I dry my tears and look around at my life in complete wonder. The woman who had fled to the Dominican Republic was heartbroken and searching for purpose, but God took my broken pieces and molded a life out of them that is more beautiful and fulfilling than I ever could have dreamed of. God knew that I was grieving the loss of a child, so he put one in my path to help nurture, guide, and love. Our foursome of a family still became a fivesome of a family; it just happened differently than I expected. Courtesy of Jaci Ohayon God also knew I was doubting my career and purpose in life, so he gave me an impossible case to win and then placed people in my life to help secure success. That experience proved my husband right, as it inspired me to go back to practicing immigration law. We now live in France, on the cusp of Geneva, where we are expanding our US-based law office into Europe and focusing on the practice of human rights, global mobility and immigration law, which was my childhood dream. Our firm works with clients around the globe who are looking to move to the United States or Europe, whether it be for business or personal endeavors. We also recently prepared our first human rights complaint with the United Nations. The world may close its eyes when people ask for help, but we actively attempt to keep ours wide open and help wherever and whenever we can. So, if you are reading this and feeling like you’ve been kicked in the guts and are wondering why you have to go through whatever heartbreak you are dealing with right now, I hope my story gives you hope. You may feel like your world has been shattered apart, but maybe it’s actually being pieced together. I pray that you find the strength deep within yourself to pull through this terrible time with the knowledge that God is taking your broken pieces and crafting something bigger, brighter and more beautiful than you can even imagine.” Courtesy of Jaci Ohayon Have a story of love, kindness, or healing to share? ‘Horizon’ Star Blames TikTok Culture On Film’s Lackluster Opening: ‘It’s Real Cinema, Folks’

The first installment of Kevin Costner’s partially self-funded Western film trilogy, “Horizon,” did not perform well at the box office, leading one of its stars to blame social media. Actor Michael Rooker, best known for working on projects such as “The Walking Dead” and “Guardians of the Galaxy,” told TMZ that he believes audiences have shorter attention spans now than they did in the past. The 69-year-old noted that the movie was more than three hours long because it tells an important story. “It’s real cinema, folks. So be prepared. We ain’t used to that sh**. We’re used to 90-minute movies. Everything’s 90 minutes…Get over that sh**,” the actor told TMZ.   He added, “Let’s watch a movie that actually tells a story. Where you learn about the people and grow to like them — or hate them. It’s not all fast, cut, cut, cut.” When asked if short-form content like clips on TikTok were to blame, he said, “Totally, they are. Of course they are. They gotta get over that crap…They gotta learn what it’s like to watch real cinema.” Rooker also had high praise for Costner, who has been working on his passion project for decades before bringing it to the big screen this year. “[Costner] is brilliant in this. He’s a brilliant director. And he has the ability to pick absolutely the cream of the crop [of actors],” he told the outlet. “Horizon” had a slow start of an opening weekend, bringing in just $11 million last weekend against a budget estimated to be near $100 million, per Variety. Costner contributed heavily to the film from his personal funds to the tune of $38 million. Costner told Entertainment Weekly that he wasn’t concerned about the movie’s initial performance. “If we put so much pressure on that, we’re bound to be disappointed,” Costner told the outlet in an interview published the day of the film’s nationwide release. “I’m really happy that ‘Horizon’ looks like what it’s supposed to look like, and that’s the way it’ll look the rest of its life. And that’s really important to me in this process.”

Biden Tells ‘Key Ally’ He’s Considering Dropping Out Of 2024 Race: Report

President Joe Biden informed a “key ally” that he is thinking about whether he should drop out of the 2024 White House race, according to a new report. The New York Times reported the development on Wednesday as Biden, 81, faces a crisis of confidence among his fellow Democrats after his fumbling debate performance last week. “President Biden has told a key ally that he knows he may not be able to salvage his candidacy if he cannot convince the public in the coming days that he is up for the job,” the report said. Biden has an interview with ABC News scheduled for Friday, one day after the July 4 holiday. The White House also announced that the president would travel to Madison, Wisconsin, and Philadelphia in the coming days. “He knows if he has two more events like that, we’re in a different place,” the unnamed ally told The New York Times, alluding to Biden’s halting debate presentation. The White House pushed back on the report after its publication. “That claim is absolutely false. If the New York Times had provided us with more than 7 minutes to comment we would have told them so,” White House spokesman Andrew Bates said in a post to X. That claim is absolutely false. If the New York Times had provided us with more than 7 minutes to comment we would have told them so. https://t.co/SRTYIVTy7v — Andrew Bates (@AndrewJBates46) July 3, 2024 Biden sought to assuage concerns at a campaign rally in North Carolina last Friday, one day after the debate, acknowledging to supporters that he is no longer a young man. “I don’t debate as well as I used to,” Biden said at the event, adding later, “but I know how to do this job.” At a fundraiser this week, Biden said he “almost fell asleep” on the debate stage. Multiple news outlets reported that members of Biden’s family urged him to stay in the race during a weekend gathering at Camp David and took aim at the president’s aides over his debate preparations. POLITICO reported first lady Jill Biden and Hunter Biden, the president’s son who was recently convicted of gun crimes and faces another trial on tax charges, were the “loudest voices” pressing Joe Biden not to drop out. Still, many Democrats are panicking about the election, and there is growing pressure on Biden to step aside, including from donors and at least one member of Congress, and give the party the chance to rally behind an alternative nominee. Polling from CBS News and YouGov after Biden’s rocky debate performance found that 41% of Democratic registered voters and 72% of registered voters overall do not believe Biden has the mental and cognitive health to serve as president. Vice President Kamala Harris is catching up to Biden in the betting markets for the Democratic Party’s presidential nomination. California Governor Gavin Newsom, another potential contender, is also gaining momentum. Biden is expected to huddle with Democratic governors, including Newsom, on Wednesday evening in an effort to reassure them of his ability to continue campaigning for a second term. Trump said on Truth Social on Monday that Biden’s debate performance put “a BIG GAP” between them for the president to “make up, and with his mind and memory completely shot, and marbles in his mouth, it’s not going to happen!”

“I’m Sleeping With One Eye Open,” Cat Mom Shares Feline’s Hilarious Reaction To New Diet Food

Hades may be the most appropriately named cat on the planet. During a recent vet visit, Hades was informed that he is no longer the svelte young boy he used to be. On that note, the veterinarian prescribed special cat diet food. Hades does not seem pleased with the new meal plan. @emhahee Im sleeping with one eye open ♬ original sound – Funny Sound Effects When dealing with cats, one must never forget that the cat is the boss. They will allow you to pet them and socialize, but only on their terms. When they don’t like how things are going, they are masters at retaliation. It is not uncommon for a cat owner to find poop in their shoes. When you do something that displeases your cat, you will know. As in the video above, Hades is letting Emily Anne know she should sleep with one eye open! Emily Anne has two cats, Apollo and Hades, and they are typically okay with her antics. She can manhandle them or dress them up, and they seem to take it mostly in stride. This cat diet food, though, seems to be a line in the sand for Hades. The look on his little cat face, as he stares down at Emily Anne, is too much. This little animal wants blood. Image from TikTok. Other cat owners understand that look. It means we must watch our backs and shoes until we can somehow get back into our cat’s good graces. My cats start acting funny when they see me packing for a trip. The last thing I do is place all my spare shoes into a closet. As a fellow cat companion, I feel for Emily. This one may take a bit of time to reconcile. Maybe share some beef jerky with him?
