An official in former President Barack Obama’s cabinet called on President Joe Biden to drop out of the 2024 presidential race amid worsening signs for his re-election campaign. Former HUD Secretary Julian Castro said in a post on X that Biden’s disastrous debate performance last week against former President Donald Trump “disturbingly demonstrated that he is unable to effectively prosecute the case against Donald Trump—much less inspire and mobilize voters to the polls.” Castro claimed that Biden had a strong record as president, but said that “a strong record is not enough when the stakes are this high.” “Sadly, President Biden is not the campaigner he was in 2020—and looks very likely to lose to Trump,” he said. “I am convinced that a number of other Democrats, including Vice President Harris, stand a better chance of winning.” “Defeating Donald Trump is too important for Democrats to do nothing. With the understanding that the stakes are so high, President Biden should make the difficult decision to withdraw from the race,” he concluded. “President Biden should fulfill his promise to be a bridge to the next generation of leadership—and allow a stronger Democratic candidate to prevent a disastrous second Trump term. Former President Barack Obama appears to be souring on President Joe Biden’s re-election chances in private talks with allies, just days after he published a statement backing the failing 81-year-old president. The Washington Post reported that Obama is telling top allies who reach out that Biden’s “already-tough path to reelection grew more challenging” after his disastrous debate performance. The report said that Obama has long warned Biden about how hard it will be for him to beat Trump and that he has expressed serious concerns to Democrats in recent weeks about the trouble they are in for the upcoming election. The Post’s report about Obama’s harsher tone about Biden in private comes as new polling from Reuters/Ipsos released on Tuesday found that only former first lady Michelle Obama is able to beat Trump in a head-to-head matchup and she does so by a double-digit margin, 50-39. Following the debate last week, Obama posted on X: “Bad debate nights happen. Trust me, I know. But this election is still a choice between someone who has fought for ordinary folks his entire life and someone who only cares about himself. Between someone who tells the truth; who knows right from wrong and will give it to the American people straight — and someone who lies through his teeth for his own benefit. Last night didn’t change that, and it’s why so much is at stake in November.” Obama allegedly warned Democrats several years ago against choosing Biden for the party’s nominee, saying: “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f*** things up.” Obama also allegedly told one of the other Democrats who ran in 2020: “And you know who really doesn’t have it? O’Connor, the White House physician, answer questions from the media about Biden’s condition and said that O’Connor does not believe that Biden needs to be re-evaluated for Parkinson’s disease — even though the condition that most speculate Biden has is some form of dementia. The administration went even further and denied that Biden had ever taken “Levodopa or other drugs for that condition.” As Biden appears to be circling the drain, his inner circle is tightening its grip and shielding him even more from public view in an effort to protect him from making further mistakes. NBC News reported on Tuesday that Biden’s son, convicted felon and drug addict Hunter Biden, was now attending official White House meetings with the president to the shock of most in the administration.

All cats with fur shed, even if they’re regarded as low-shedding or hypoallergenic breeds. So, it’s perfectly normal to find cat hair around your house. However, shedding does become concerning if you notice an increase in shedding or thinning areas on your cat’s coat. Increased shedding often indicates an underlying health concern that requires medical attention. If you think your cat is shedding more than usual, it’s best to take them to your veterinarian for a thorough examination. Here are some possible reasons that cats may shed and how they can be treated. The 8 Reasons Why Cats Shed So Much 1.  Seasonal Shedding Many cat breeds are seasonal shedders that will shed heavily once or twice a year. Both single-coated and double-coated cats can shed seasonally, but it’s more prominent and noticeable with double-coated cats. Examples of cat breeds that are seasonal shedders include Maine Coons, Ragdolls, Persians, and Norwegian Forest Cats. Allergies Cats can develop allergies to all sorts of things in their environment, including pollen, dust mites and molds. Some cats have food allergies, most commonly to animal proteins such as beef, chicken or dairy. Allergies typically cause itchy, inflamed skin. Affected cats lick and scratch leading to an increase in hair loss and shedding, and thinning of the coat. 3. Infections and Diseases Sometimes, cats can get a skin disease or infection that will cause them to shed more. For example, irregular hair loss is a sign of bacterial and fungal infections. Ear infections can also result in hair loss around the ears from scratching and self-trauma. Ringworm is a contagious fungal infection of the skin that usually causes patchy hair loss, with thickened scaly skin.  Infection is more common in younger and longhaired cats, although any cat can be affected. It’s common for cats to lose more hair when they’re overgrooming due to feeling stressed out. When the hair loss and self-trauma has behavioral causes then it is called psychogenic alopecia. To diagnose vets need to rule out medical causes for overgrooming first. Many different factors can cause stress in cats. Changes in routine, boredom, loud noises, and moving to a new home can all cause cats to feel anxiety or stress. Stressed-out cats often engage in other types of behaviors. Other common behaviors linked to stress include being withdrawn or needy, changes in eating habits, eliminating outside the litter box, and scratching or destroying furniture. 5. Aging You may notice more hair loss as your cat gets older. It’s common for senior cats to groom themselves less because it becomes more difficult for them to reach certain areas of their body. Therefore, your cat’s sudden increase in shedding may not necessarily be because your cat is losing more hair. It may be due to a decrease in self-grooming. Some older cats may appreciate getting a little extra help by getting brushed more frequently, this removes dead hair from their coat, reduces shedding and prevents their fur getting matted. Fleas and mites located on the skin and coat can cause itchiness and irritation, and some cats are allergic to flea saliva which means they have a more extreme reaction when bitten by fleas. Poor Nutrition Diet plays an essential role in the maintenance of healthy skin and coat. Your veterinarian can assess whether your cat’s shedding is normal or requires further action. Another way to manage shedding is to establish a grooming routine for your cat. This includes regular brushing, and occasional bathing for some cats. Brushing helps lift loose and dead hair from your cat’s coat so that less hair lands on your carpets and furniture. While you’re brushing your cat, you can check for any abnormal coloring, skin issues, and signs of parasites.
