We Need to Talk About a Shameless Media

People believed the lies about how Joe Biden was competent, sharp, and well-prepared because it was what they wanted to hear. The alternative was distasteful to them. The media has lied to us for four years, even as Biden grew worse and followed the dictates of the hardcore left of his party. Unfortunately, to get […] The post We Need to Talk About a Shameless Media appeared first on www.independentsentinel.com.

Trial Date Set For Man Accused Of Killing 4 University Of Idaho Students

A trial date has been set for the man accused of killing four University of Idaho students back in November 2022. The suspect, who is not being named by The Daily Wire per a policy on mass killers, will face a jury beginning on June 2, 2025, Newsweek reported. The trial date was set by Judge John Judge of Idaho’s Latah County. The trial is expected to last until August 29, 2025. The suspect, 29, has pleaded not guilty to the November 13, 2022, killings of Ethan Chapin, 20; Kaylee Goncalves, 21; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Madison Mogen, 21, as they slept in their off-campus home in the college town of Moscow. Part of the evidence against him, according to the prosecution, is surveillance footage showing the suspect’s white Hyundai Elantra near the scene of the crime at the time the murders took place. The defense team has argued that the suspect regularly drove around late at night looking at the stars but was not in the vicinity of the crime. “[The suspect] was out driving in the early morning hours of Nov. 13, 2022, as he often did to hike and run and/or see the moon and stars. He drove throughout the area south of Pullman, Washington, west of Moscow, Idaho,” lead defense attorney Anne Taylor wrote in a court filing in April. To back this up, the defense plans to call an expert witness “to show that [the suspect’s] mobile device was south of Pullman, Washington and west of Moscow, Idaho on November 13, 2022; that [the suspect’s] mobile device did not travel east on the Moscow-Pullman Highway in the early morning hours of November 13th,” according to the court filing. But Latah County Prosecuting Attorney Bill Thompson said that the alibi was too vague and that the defense shouldn’t be allowed to call any witnesses other than the defendant to prove his whereabouts, Fox News reported. “With the exception of the reference to Wawawai Park (which is new), the defendant is offering nothing new to his initial ‘alibi’ that he was simply driving around during the morning hours of November 13, 2022,” Thompson wrote in a previous filing. The suspect has been charged with four counts of murder and one count of burglary relating to the killings. Part of the evidence that led to the suspect’s arrest, mentioned in a previously unsealed probable cause affidavit, showed that police were able to narrow the timeframe of the crime to between 4:00 a.m. and 4:25 a.m. and reviewed video footage taken in the area in the time before and after the murders are believed to have occurred. Video showed a white Hyundai Elantra without a front license plate (front license plates are required in Washington and Idaho, but not in Pennsylvania, where the car was registered) in the area between 3:29 a.m. and 4:20 a.m. The vehicle can be seen passing the off-campus residence three times before returning a fourth time around 4:04 a.m. and attempting to turn around on the road. The vehicle was next seen around 4:20 a.m. traveling away from the direction of the off-campus residence at high speed, heading in the direction of a road that eventually leads to Pullman, Washington, where the suspect attended Washington State University (WSU). Video footage from the WSU campus showed a white Hyundai Elantra leaving the area and heading toward Moscow at around 2:53 a.m. At around 5:25 a.m., this vehicle was again observed on five cameras in Pullman and the WSU campus. Police pulled records for white Hyundai Elantras registered at WSU on November 29 – just over two weeks after the murders were committed – and found one belonging to the man who was eventually arrested. Police reviewed the owner’s Washington state driver’s license and determined he matched the suspect’s physical description provided by one of the surviving roommates. Police matched the suspect to the vehicle through two previous traffic stops in the months before the murders. They also learned that the suspect registered his car in Washington and received Washington plates on November 18 – five days after the murders. Police also reviewed cell phone data to show the suspect’s phone did not ping any cellular towers near the crime scene during the relevant timeframe, but an expanded examination of cell phone data showed the phone stopped reporting data to the network at around 2:47 a.m. At that time, the white Elantra was leaving Pullman and heading toward Moscow. The phone next pinged at 4:48 a.m. in an area south of Moscow, heading back to Pullman. Cell records also showed that the suspect left his home in Pullman around 9:00 a.m. on November 13 and traveled back to Moscow. Cell records dating back to June 2022 showed the suspect’s phone was in the crime scene area on at least 12 occasions before the murders – all but one in the late evening or early morning hours.

McDonald’s Admits Customers Reject Fake Meat Burgers

McDonald’s Admits Customers Reject Fake Meat Burgers

McDonald's has acknowledged the lukewarm reception of its plant-based McPlant burger, which was introduced in partnership with Beyond Meat. The fast-food giant began testing the McPlant in select markets in 2021, but customer interest has fallen short of expectations. The McPlant burger features a patty made from peas, rice, and potatoes, aiming to offer a plant-based alternative to their traditional beef burgers . McDonald’s Says Plant-Based Test Didn’t Pan Out in US. "A [2022] test of its McPlant burger in San Francisco and Dallas 'was not successful in either market,'" according to the company. https://t.co/swYQBW4VXI — Tom Vierhile (@TomVierhile) June 27, 2024 Despite initial excitement, the McPlant has not resonated well with American consumers. Franchisee feedback indicated that sales were underwhelming, averaging only 20 McPlants sold per day, compared to the target of 40 to 60 sandwiches. This tepid response has led McDonald's to conclude that a national rollout is not feasible in the near future. The broader context of the plant-based meat market shows similar challenges. While competitors like Burger King have found some success with their Impossible Whopper, the overall acceptance of fake meat products remains mixed. Factors contributing to this include consumer preferences for traditional meat flavors and skepticism about the taste and texture of plant-based alternatives. $BYND -3% after comments by $MCD's US Head Joe Erlinger who spoke at @WSJ Food Forum:-McDonald's plant-based burger tests failed in San Fran & Dallas-says McDonald's diners not demanding plant-based options.-Hammer's Take:-Outside of cholesterol, the McPlant is a healthier… pic.twitter.com/qVglZWoN0d — Hammerstone Markets (@HammerstoneMar3) June 26, 2024 In the aftermath of the McPlant's trial, shares of Beyond Meat, the company behind the patty, have suffered. The stock has dropped significantly as investors question the long-term growth potential of the plant-based meat industry. McDonald's initial plan for the McPlant was ambitious. They hoped to expand the plant-based offering beyond just burgers to include other menu items like chicken nuggets and sausage. However, the current market response has put these plans on hold. The trial's results underscore a broader trend in the food industry, where plant-based alternatives, despite their environmental benefits and health claims, still struggle to achieve mainstream popularity. McDonald's experience with the McPlant highlights the challenges that even major brands face when trying to shift consumer habits towards more sustainable options. In summary, McDonald's venture into the plant-based burger market with the McPlant has faced significant hurdles, reflecting broader industry trends and consumer preferences that currently favor traditional meat products. GOP Lawmaker Caught Pouring Water in Democrat Rival’s Bag

In a bizarre and troubling incident at the Vermont Statehouse, Republican Representative Mary Morrissey has been caught on video pouring water into the bag of Democratic Representative Jim Carroll. This act, which occurred multiple times over several months, has sparked a significant ethics investigation and widespread condemnation from both sides of the political aisle. The controversy came to light when Rep. Carroll noticed his bag was frequently soaked and suspected foul play. To catch the culprit, Carroll set up a spy camera, which eventually captured Morrissey in the act. The videos, released to the media, show Morrissey approaching Carroll's bag, which was hung outside his committee room, and deliberately pouring water into it. GOP lawmaker secretly pours water into rival's bag for FIVE MONTHS https://t.co/OJn42NAbMf via @MailOnline — Sister of Greg Gunn (@SistrofGregGunn) June 20, 2024 In one video dated March 23, Morrissey can be seen wearing a gray suit jacket as she nonchalantly pours water into Carroll's bag. A second video from March 26 shows her repeating the act, this time dressed in a rose-colored jacket and scarf. The videos, although not showing her face, clearly identify Morrissey by her distinctive long gray hair. if you cant trust Rep. Mary Ann Morrissey in a coat closet how can you trust her to represent you? Please call for her resignation https://t.co/JpvafwsDOY — Sophia Fox (@pcolagatorgirl) June 20, 2024 This behavior has left many lawmakers in shock. "To have another member actually do something like that, it’s hard to fathom," said Republican Rep. Mike Marcotte. The incident has led to a confidential ethics probe by the House Ethics Panel to determine whether Morrissey's actions constitute harassment. Rep. Morrissey, who has faced disciplinary actions such as being removed from a key committee, issued an apology but did not provide an explanation for her actions. "I deeply regret my actions and any distress they caused Representative Carroll," Morrissey said in a brief statement. However, the apology has done little to quell the outrage and confusion over her motive. The incident has drawn sharp criticism from various quarters, with many questioning the appropriateness of such conduct within the legislative environment. "It’s just unbelievable that a lawmaker would stoop to such behavior," remarked Rep. Angela Arsenault, a Democrat who has viewed the footage. The ethics investigation will determine if further disciplinary measures are warranted against Morrissey. The scandal underscores a troubling lapse in decorum and professionalism within the Vermont Statehouse, highlighting the need for robust ethical standards and accountability for public officials. As the investigation continues, many are calling for a thorough review to ensure such incidents do not recur in the future. Michelle Obama Not Campaigning for Biden Over Hunter Biden’s Ex-Wife Kathleen Buhle

In a surprising turn of events, Michelle Obama will not be campaigning for President Joe Biden in the 2024 election, reportedly due to the Biden family's treatment of Kathleen Buhle, Hunter Biden's ex-wife. Buhle, who divorced Hunter in 2017 amid his struggles with addiction, has been effectively ostracized by the Biden family following the publication of her memoir in 2022. This book detailed her tumultuous marriage and Hunter's battles with substance abuse. Sources close to the Obamas indicate that Michelle's decision stems from her disapproval of how Buhle has been marginalized. Despite the Bidens' public image of unity, the internal family dynamics tell a different story. Interesting timing on this story: Michelle Obama thinks the Biden family has been unfair to Hunter’s ex-wife and hasn’t been involved in campaigning for Joe. Barack described Biden family dynamics as “weird shit” per @axios: https://t.co/SHgSwz5Poz — Clay Travis (@ClayTravis) June 27, 2024 Buhle's exclusion from significant family events, such as her daughter Naomi Biden's wedding photoshoot for Vogue, which only featured Naomi and Jill Biden, has been particularly contentious. The fallout from Buhle's memoir, "If We Break," and the subsequent strain on her relationship with the Biden family, highlights a broader issue of loyalty and personal history within political families. Buhle has been vocal about her experiences, which include feeling unsupported by the Bidens during her marriage and after her divorce from Hunter. Buried details here: The Obamas did not encourage Biden to run and Michelle didn’t want to campaign for him in 2020 either. Oof. https://t.co/DlI3q8p1hN — Sunny (@sunnyright) June 27, 2024 Hunter Biden's ongoing legal troubles have further complicated matters. Buhle's recent testimony in his federal gun trial brought renewed media attention to her and the Biden family's personal struggles. She testified about Hunter's drug use and their challenging marriage, adding to the Biden family's discomfort with her public revelations. The decision of a prominent figure like Michelle Obama to step back from campaigning for Biden could have significant political ramifications. The former First Lady has been a critical asset for the Democratic Party, known for her powerful speeches and widespread popularity. Her absence on the campaign trail may influence voter sentiment and the overall dynamics of the 2024 election. This development underscores the intricate and often private issues that can influence public political strategies. It also reflects the broader theme of personal loyalty and public perception in high-stakes political environments. As the 2024 election approaches, the Biden campaign will need to navigate these personal and political complexities to maintain its momentum. Lab Turns Cheap Soft-Sided Crate Into Hamster Wheel In Hilarious Video

Many dog owners crate-train their pups to offer the animal a “safe space” to call their own. When her family decided to try their Labrador puppy out in a soft-sided crate they got a bit of a surprise. Normally, getting a lab into a dog crate isn’t difficult. When it came time for Leila Belle to enter this newfangled mesh enclosure, she probably walked in with no problems. But when the zipper closed? View this post on Instagram A post shared by Molly, Leila, and Lincoln (@lifewithmollyandleila) Chocolate chunk Leila wanted no part of that gizmo, so she immediately tried bounding out of the enclosure. What followed was a cross between a tumbleweed and a hamster ball. The lab puppy was NOT happy in that dog crate. Image from Instagram. Leila rolled and tumbled inside the crate, moving a good distance from the doorway out into the yard. Watching the results of this experience is hilarious. Fortunately, her puppy parents released her quickly from further agony. The lab is now accepting of the soft dog crate and no longer pretends to be in a hamster ball. At three years old, Leila is a calm dog and loves snuggling with her tiny little human sibling, Lincoln. Image from Instagram. Leila lives with one dog sibling, an Australian shepherd named Princess Molly Lynn. One-year-old Lincoln is their human sibling. The two dogs and the baby have their antics chronicled by their parents on Instagram at lifewithmollyandleila. Leila’s activities include dock diving, animal acting, barn hunting, frisbee, rally, and fastCAT. You might recognize Leila from her image on the front of Purina DentaLife ActivFresh large breed treats. Whether you enjoy watching dogs romp or calmly snuggle, their Instagram page has it all. Please share if you enjoyed this foray into the lives of Leila and Molly. You can find the source of this story’s featured image here.
