Trump vs. CNN and Biden
If ever there were an example of how not to set up a televised presidential debate, CNN has just vividly provided that example.
As this episode showcasing a network host shutting down Karoline Leavitt shows, CNN is no longer about being a trustworthy source of news.
So the other day, in a perfectly pre-debate routine interview, there was CNN’s Kasie Hunt interviewing Trump campaign spokesperson Karoline Leavitt about the upcoming debate.
Routine to the max.
And then.
And then Hunt pulled the plug on the interview midstream. Completely shutting Leavitt down and off the air.
Breitbart quotes Karoline as saying this to journalist Benny Johnson: Trump Campaign’s Karoline Leavitt: It’s ‘Shocking’ How ‘Triggering the Truth Is to CNN’:
I still can’t believe this happened … It is really shocking just how triggering the truth is to CNN,” she began, explaining that she was simply pointing out that Trump is brave for agreeing to do this debate when the cards are stacked against him.
That’s all I was doing was pointing out the fact that President Trump is bold to go on a three on one fight on a network that is clearly hostile to him…. Let’s stop pretending like CNN is still the most trusted name in news. They are not, and I pointed out statements that Jake Tapper himself has made in the past.
Karoline continued, pointing out that it is ironic that Tapper’s utter controversial statements are on air, but that she is not allowed to repeat them.
He’s allowed to say them on air, but apparently I’m not allowed to repeat them even though it’s perfectly relevant because he’s the moderator at Thursday night’s debate.… It is shocking that they not only cut off my microphone but then dumped me from the entire program.
Karoline added, “And as you can see, at the end of that clip, I was ready to pivot and to talk about the issues and talk about our strategy heading in to Thursday night. But she couldn’t take it, and they can’t handle the truth. That’s what, that’s what it comes down to.”
And in a blink, the CNN host has drawn real attention to the fact that the network has zero intention of practicing real journalism. CNN — where, full disclosure, I was once stationed as a commentator — is now, as this episode vividly illustrates, long gone from its former slogan that the network was “The Most Trusted Name in News.” And knowing and liking the CNN personnel involved in this, I feel sad they are in this situation.
But as Hunt made plain, CNN is now about her network colleagues routinely making disparaging comments about former President Trump with silly, Hitler comparisons and more, with Hunt and presumably others rallying to protect them from any discussion of their comments.
So having now blown up a routine interview to focus massive attention on CNN’s behavior, millions of Americans are being reminded that when the camera goes live on Thursday night, one of the candidates — Trump — will be pitted not against one opponent but three: President Biden and CNN moderators Tapper and Bash.
Not to mention that Americans will be asking the questions one can reasonably expect CNN will not be asking.

President Biden, you are the only president in American history who has had his opponent jailed. Many of your critics have suggested you have acted like a dictator running a third world banana republic. How do you respond to this?
President Biden, there has been considerable controversy about the audio tape of your interview with Special Counsel Ben Hur. Our network host tonight, CNN, has sued your administration for access to recordings of federal investigators interviewing you. Why have you blocked the audio tape to CNN and the American people?
President Biden, recently there have been several young American women who have been raped and murdered by illegal immigrants who should never have been in this country in the first place. What are you doing to bring a halt to these murders and others committed by illegal immigrants who are, by definition, in this country illegally.
President Biden, why did President Obama feel the need to escort you from the stage the other night at the conclusion of your rally in Los Angeles?
President Biden, have you made any effort to arrest and charge those committing insurrection in the BLM riots of 2020? If not, why not?
Obviously there are more questions like these for Biden. But don’t expect any questions remotely like these from the CNN moderators.
As this episode showcasing a network host shutting down Karoline Leavitt shows, CNN is no longer about being a trustworthy source of news.
If you have the nerve to disagree with left-wing Trump hating politics as expressed by CNN hosts, you will literally be silenced and cut off the air.
And right there is the underlying fact about this week’s debate. This debate isn’t about Biden vs. Trump. This debate is really about Trump vs. Biden and CNN. Its 3 on 1.
And right there is the Most Trusted Fact About CNN.
