Rudy Giuliani went from being “America’s Mayor” to being Public Enemy Number One. Why? It seems to me that it’s due to his close affiliation with President Trump. And perhaps the Swamp saw how Rudy cleaned up New York City and they don’t want him cleaning up Washington, D.C.? Just a guess. But he’s been targeted and beaten down for years now and the hits keep coming… Recently though, Rudy seems to now be fighting back. Here’s the latest from CBS News on the asset forfeitures they are trying to push through: Trump ally and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani got a tongue-lashing Thursday in federal court after missing a deadline to turn over valuables to two election workers he defamed, including one asset, a vintage Mercedes, that he took for a drive to vote in Florida. He owes the women, Ruby Freeman and daughter Wandrea Moss, millions in damages. U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman, upon being informed that Giuliani is the only person named on a list of people who have knowledge of Giuliani’s assets — and that he wants his name removed — called the request “farcical.” “My expectation is you’re going to answer that question truthfully and fully,” Liman said, adding that someone else “in the world” must have knowledge of Giuliani’s various assets. Hearings in the matter were being conducted remotely, but Liman ordered Giuliani to appear Thursday in person after learning that Giuliani had not met his obligations to the two women. Lawyers for Ruby Freeman and her daughter, Wandrea Moss, said they went to Giuliani’s Manhattan apartment last week and discovered that it had been emptied out, frustrating their efforts to catalog and obtain his assets. “That’s the one piece of property sitting here in Manhattan that can’t be moved. Everything else has been game playing,” said Aaron Nathan, a lawyer for Freeman and Moss. “We’ve asked over and over where this stuff is, and the defendant has refused to answer,” Nathan said. Kenneth Caruso, one of Giuliani’s lawyers, said some of the items are now in a storage facility in suburban Ronkonkoma, New York, and claimed Giuliani has “no control” of it. Liman warned Caruso to “consider your words” about access to the storage facility, because it could end up the subject of a contempt hearing if Giuliani doesn’t turn over the property he owes. A jury in December 2023 awarded the pair $148 million in damages for lies Giuliani spread about them after the 2020 presidential election. The massive award sent Giuliani into bankruptcy, and entitled the defamed women to much of what he owns. Asked by a reporter after Thursday’s hearing if he regretted defaming Freeman and Moss, Giuliani exclaimed, “No!” He then denied defaming them. Liman had given Giuliani until Oct. 29 to surrender a long list of possessions, including the Mercedes, two dozen high-end watches, a jersey signed by New York Yankees Hall of Famer Joe DiMaggio — long featured prominently above the fireplace in Giuliani’s $5 million apartment — as well as other furniture and sports memorabilia. The women are also entitled to some $2 million that Giuliani has said President-elect Trump’s 2020 campaign owes him. In another tense moment, Caruso called it “vindictive” that Giuliani must turn over a watch that’s an heirloom previously owned by his grandfather. Liman raised his voice, saying “Oh, come on,” before pointing to other cases he hears regularly, such as people “who run bodegas and short their employees’ wages.” I’m no attorney, but I was always under the impression that even if you get a judgment against someone, they don’t just have to “pay up”. In fact, I was always under the impression that the judgment holder has the obligation to track down and seize your assets. You know, using things like garnishments and levies and things like that. I have never heard of someone having to voluntarily just turn over assets. Are there any attorneys reading this who can comment down below and let me know if this is strange? A judge ruled on Monday that the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) must open its books and potentially reveal foreign funding sources, the New York Post reported. The ruling from U.S. Magistrate Judge David Schultz came after the group’s defamation suit against a former employee backfired. Former CAIR employee Lori Saroya filed a defamation complaint against the group in January after CAIR dropped its lawsuit against Saroya. In its lawsuit against Saroya, CAIR alleged that the former employee’s social media posts and emails to CAIR supporters implied that the group is funded by terrorist organizations, the Post reported. CAIR, often referred to as a “Muslim American civil rights group,” ultimately dropped its suit against Saroya, fearing that her legal team would “demand the names of CAIR supporters who have donated to us,” but Saroya’s lawsuit against CAIR has resulted in Judge Schultz ruling that any assets CAIR owns are within the “scope of permissible discovery.” Schultz wrote that “the thrust of CAIR’s allegations against Saroya in the 2021 complaint is that Saroya falsely implied CAIR received funding from foreign governments and terrorists when she stated CAIR accepted ‘international funding through their Washington Trust Foundation.’” “CAIR points to no public admission that it received funding from terrorists or that it received funding through the Washington Trust Foundation,” but “discovery into these matters is proportionate to the needs of the case,” he added, ruling, “CAIR has not shown that the burden or expense of the proposed discovery outweighs its likely benefit, or that it unwarrantedly taxes its resources.” Saroya’s lawyer, Jeffrey Robbins, told the Post that the ruling is “the mother of all legal boomerangs.” He said that the decision means CAIR must “turn over evidence about everything from fundraising practices, such as having raised money from foreign sources and concealed it; whether it deceived donors; whether it mismanaged donor money; whether it retaliated against employees or threatened to retaliate against employees for raising concerns about sexual harassment or the like.” CAIR was at the center of controversy last year, which caused the Biden White House to distance itself from the group. If you live in a larger city, odds are, you are quite accustomed to spotting airplanes in the sky. That said, none are ever quite like this — at least not usually. In Queensland, Australia, a man just so happened to be at the right place at the right time to spot a stealth plane as it started to land. Although you have likely never seen one in person before, the design is probably familiar. This type of aircraft is a B-2, and its origins go back to the Cold War era. It was made to be ultra stealthy, allowing it to be super hard to detect. This aircraft was so good at remaining stealthy, in fact, that the general public didn’t know of its existence for quite some time. Even then, it is still highly rare to see it flying like this.
