Despite tearing up the lore, Arcane may just have saved League of Legends

Despite tearing up the lore, Arcane may just have saved League of Legends

It’s been three years since Jinx and Vi’s saga of strife began; since Jinx murdered Silco, sending her Super Mega Death Rocket hurtling towards Piltover’s council chambers, intent on bringing the city of progress to its knees. But, for me, it’s also been three years since I really felt like League of Legends was good. In 2021 there was the much-maligned Sentinels of Light event which, while it introduced Akshan, absolutely obliterated half of the game’s lore. After 15 years there’s still several champions who have nothing more than a single paragraph of story (poor Shaco), and in the wake of Arcane Season 2’s conclusion, there are more questions on the table than answers. But, for perhaps the first time in a while, I think LoL might be able to rectify its somewhat confusing lore state, and Season 2025 will be the catalyst. Ayasa Shadow of Silence is a new platformer set in an Elden Ring style world

There's something so enticing about The Lands Between. As someone who isn't a soulslike person, I found myself wrapped up in the Shadow of the Erdtree hype, and finally took FromSoftware's magnum opus out for a spin myself. I immediately feel in love with its twisted, medieval art style, and while the soulslike combat still isn't really my thing, I spent hours exploring its sprawling universe, fighting those absolutely horrific Fingercreepeers and hating every minute of it. Ayasa: Shadows of Silence's world feels somewhat similar, blending a mix of traditional fantasy vistas with eerie, Little Nightmares-style themes. For me, it was an immediate wishlist based purely on its aesthetic alone. 8 Incredible Video Game Novelisations

Though many great video games have originally started out as novels (Metro 2033, S.T.A.L.K.E.R., The Witcher Series), occasionally, we see the reverse happen, and a game is good enough that it even warrants its own novelization.

How to use Google Gemini on your phone

Image: The Verge While Google Assistant is going to be around for a while, the future of Google-powered digital assistants now seems to be Gemini. Gemini comes preinstalled if you buy a Google Pixel 9 phone, and you can install the Android app on older Pixels and non-Pixel handsets. There’s also now an app for the iPhone. Whether you’ve already got it installed or you’re thinking about upgrading from Google Assistant, here’s what you can do with Gemini. (This was tested on a Pixel 9 Pro Fold.) Pay or not? You can grab the Gemini app for free for Android and iOS, sign yourself in with your Google account, and switch. As with Gemini on the web, the model you can access will depend on whether you’re willing to pay Google $20 a month for Google One AI... Continue reading…
