Resident Alien to Move to USA for Fourth Season

News resident alien Resident Alien to Move to USA for Fourth Season The move is likely being made to expose the show to a wider audience. By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on June 18, 2024 Credit: James Dittiger/SYFY Comment 0 Share New Share Credit: James Dittiger/SYFY The kooky SYFY series Resident Alien, which stars Alan Tudyk as an alien who takes over the persona of a guy named Harry Vanderspeigle, has gained a loyal following over its first three seasons. The series’ third season premiered this February on SYFY and Peacock, and according to Deadline, the show will have a season four, albeit on a different network. That network is USA, which—like SYFY and Peacock—is owned by NBCUniversal.  The move, according to Deadline, was the only way Resident Alien would get a fourth season and will also mean that the show will have a lower budget than it enjoyed at SYFY. The trade also suggests that the parent company’s decision to move the show was in part done to expose it to a broader audience. And what will that broader audience see? Here’s the official synopsis for the show: Based on the Dark Horse comics, SYFY’s Resident Alien follows a crash-landed alien named Harry (Alan Tudyk) whose secret mission is to kill all humans. In Season Three, Harry is vowing to work with General McCallister (Linda Hamilton) to rid the Earth of the Grey aliens—a task made more difficult when he discovers that the Grey Hybrid Joseph (Enver Gjokaj) has taken a job in town as the new Deputy. Joseph isn’t Harry’s only obstacle—Harry struggles to balance business and his personal life when he falls in love for the first time. Meanwhile, Asta (Sara Tomko) and D’arcy (Alice Wetterlund) move in together and struggle to discover their purpose in the world, Sheriff Mike (Corey Reynolds) and Deputy Liv (Elizabeth Bowen) continue their quest to find out who killed the Alien Tracker, and Ben (Levi Fiehler) and Kate (Meredith Garretson) are forced to deal with the subconscious repercussions of their alien abductions. The show was adapted for television by Chris Sheridan, who will continue to showrun over at USA. The move means that the only original scripted series left at SYFY are Reginald the Vampire, SurrealEstate, and The Ark. Chucky is currently “owned” by both SYFY and USA. There’s no news yet on whether the horror comedy will get another season and, if so, where it will find a home under the NBCU umbrella. We don’t have details yet on when we’ll see season four of Resident Alien on USA. While we wait for more news, you can watch all three seasons of Resident Alien on Peacock or catch the first two seasons on Netflix. ‘Shameful Propaganda’: Josh Hawley Accuses COVID-19 Scientist of Lying

Sen. Josh Hawley on Tuesday accused one of the scientists behind the assertion that the COVID-19 virus was not grown in a lab of “shameful propaganda” at an “Origins of COVID-19″ hearing. “You should have done better, and because you didn’t, people have suffered,” the Missouri Republican said to Robert Garry. Hawley said people have lost their jobs and social standing because of the “propaganda article” of Garry, one of the five authors of the March 2020 opinion paper on “The Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2,” published in the scientific journal Nature Medicine. “It is wrong to censor and lie to the American public,” the Missouri lawmaker said. “It is wrong to withhold critical information from them.” Garry is a professor of microbiology and immunology, and associate dean for biomedical sciences at Tulane School of Medicine in New Orleans. “As a scientist who is supposed to follow facts, do you regret that your work was used to censor your fellow scientists and ordinary Americans who asked questions about the virus?” Hawley asked Garry. Garry responded that scientists are not responsible for their articles after they are published. “All we did was write a paper,” he said. “It’s been one of the most scrutinized papers in history,” he said. “It’s held up very well. It wasn’t an attempt to distort things and to mislead the American public. It was just a paper.” The Missouri senator accused Garry of lying about the intelligence community coming to the conclusion that the virus did not originate from a lab. “That is a lie,” Hawley said. “The intelligence community did not come to that conclusion. Multiple intelligence community agencies and components have concluded it was likely a lab leak, and they concluded at the same time you and your people were propagandizing the American public.” “I am not going to sit here and allow you to lie any further,” he continued. “You have disgracefully participated in shameful propaganda that has been one of the worst chapters in American history with the country propagandizing its own people.” Garry agreed that there is more to learn from the intelligence community. “All agencies should come forth with more information,” he said. The hearing before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee aimed to identify the truth about where the coronavirus came from, Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., said. Agencies and officials withheld information about the COVID-19 virus from the American public, Paul said in his opening remarks. “Privately, they were saying one thing,” Paul said. “Publicly, they were saying another. Media pundits parroted the narrative, while social media platforms censored discussion about the lab leak, labeling it as misinformation and stifling open discourse about the virus’s origins.” Molecular biologist Richard Ebright called the paper “fraudulent.” “I would tell a younger scientist that you do not state a conclusion without evidence, even in an opinion piece in a scientific journal,” Ebright said. “And you never, under any circumstances in a scientific journal, state conclusions that you know to be unsound. That represents scientific misconduct.” The post ‘Shameful Propaganda’: Josh Hawley Accuses COVID-19 Scientist of Lying appeared first on The Daily Signal.

Trump Is Right: Trash the Tip Tax

Rallying Las Vegas voters on Sunday, former President Donald Trump said, “For those hotel workers and people that get tips, you’re going to be very happy, because when I get to office, we are going to not charge taxes on tips.” Amid 100-degree temperatures, he added, “You do a great job of service. You take care of people, and I think it’s going to be something that really is deserved.” Trump’s tip-tax repeal proposal blends sensible policy and smart politics. The presumptive GOP standard-bearer discussed this idea with congressional Republicans on Capitol Hill on Thursday. “He would like to tell you that it was incredible research and policy discussion, but the secret is, he got it from a waitress,” Sen. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., told Roll Call after huddling with Trump over a Republican legislative agenda. Cramer said that Trump got this idea when a Las Vegas waitress told him: “They are coming after my tips.” “No tax on tips, OK?” Trump told supporters Friday in Palm Beach, Fla., on his 78th birthday. “We need to spread the word so that every time you leave a tip for the next five months, you put on the receipt, ‘Vote for Trump, because there’s no tax on tips.’” The Tax Foundation analyzed the latest IRS data: In 2018, some 6.13 million workers paid federal income tax on an average of $6,249 in tips. Keeping that cash, rather than having it incinerated in Washington, would ease the pain of everyday Americans who endure President Joe Biden’s lingering inflation and dwindling economic growth. “In an act of political genius, President Trump promised to eliminate income taxes on tips,” Grover Norquist, founder of Americans for Tax Reform, told me. “The promise was made in Nevada, one of many states where thousands of waiters and waitresses see tips as immediate rewards for their hard work and extra effort. Every tip is a pay hike.” “Democrats like taxing tips,” Norquist added. “Why? The union bosses want to kill tips so they can treat waiters like assembly-line workers. They wish to prevent harder-working waiters from earning more.” As if on cue, Ted Pappageorge, the boss of Las Vegas-based Culinary Workers Union Local 226, greeted Trump’s idea with a grimace. Pappageorge said: “Relief is definitely needed for tip earners, but Nevada workers are smart enough to know the difference between real solutions and wild campaign promises from a convicted felon.” Despite this corruptly earned Democratic talking point, the Left cannot argue that Trump is scrapping the tip tax to enrich his fellow billionaires at Mar-a-Lago. Instead, Trump would help barbers, baristas, and bartenders—people like those he recently visited at an Atlanta Chick-fil-A, a Harlem bodega, and a South Bronx park. This working-class tax repeal will ease efforts to make permanent the Trump-GOP’s 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Killing the tip tax is the side order of onion rings that makes the permanent tax-cut burger irresistible. “Crooked Joe Biden has taken the totally opposite approach, trying to TAX more and more of their Tips, even hiring 88,000 IRS Agents to collect!” Trump wrote via Truth Social. “In fact, Crooked Joe substantially increased the Reporting Requirements for Workers (2023!), and would go still further if I wasn’t here to watch.” Indeed, ditching the tip tax would spare employees and employers endless paperwork hassles and needless scrutiny from Biden’s brigades of intrusive tax inspectors. “The IRS wants to look at how they can trap the entire transaction process more accurately, thereby netting more revenue,” said National Taxpayers Union President Pete Sepp. “It could also impose a whole new web of recordkeeping systems and compliance burdens,” Sepp told me. “The IRS has always tried to look over the shoulders of anyone who works in or runs businesses that either deal in a lot of cash or deal in a lot of tips.” Compare Trump’s valuable tax cuts for workers with the Democrats’ venomous minimum-wage mandates. Last April 1, California imposed a 25% hourly pay hike on fast-food chains with at least 60 outlets, from $16 to $20. As conservatives warned, results have been poisonous: Rubio’s Coastal Grill padlocked 48 Mexican restaurants in the Golden State and filed for bankruptcy due to “significant increases to the minimum wage in California.” Franchisees sacked 2,000 Pizza Hut delivery drivers from Sacramento to San Bernardino, Calif. “Between last fall and January, California fast-food restaurants cut about 9,500 jobs, representing a 1.3% change from September 2023,” the California Business and Industrial Alliance stated June 6 in a full-page ad in USA Today. That employment destruction surely has accelerated since the higher-wage order landed on April Fools’ Day. Burger King franchisee Harsh Ghai planned to install job-killing digital-order kiosks in his 140 West Coast eateries between 2029 and 2034. Instead, Ghai will deploy them all by late this month “in every single restaurant in response to the legislation to be able to balance some of these labor costs that are hitting us.” Citing data from Kalinowski Equity Research, KNBC Los Angeles reports that in just the first 18 days of the $20 minimum wage, fast-food prices rose 7% at Starbucks, 7.5% at Chipotle, and 8% at Wendy’s.  Placer.ai data confirm that diners increased year-over-year visits in February and March. But as soon as the higher minimum wage and attendant price hikes arrived, foot traffic lagged in April and May: Jack in the Box dropped 0.8%. McDonald’s slid 2.43%. Wendy’s sank 3.24%. Burger King tanked 3.86%. So, the Democratic “solution” closes businesses, kills jobs, unleashes robots, boosts prices, and repels customers, while Trump pledges to free workers from pouring their tips into the Potomac. We publish a variety of perspectives. Nothing written here is to be construed as representing the views of The Daily Signal. ‘Parole in Place’ for Illegal Aliens Amounts to More Lawless Executive Arrogance

Tuesday afternoon, President Joe Biden announced his latest unauthorized attempt to grant a back-door amnesty to half a million or more people living illegally in the United States. When it stands between him and a policy objective, Biden treats the law of the land as a minor obstacle to work around. Whether it’s passing along billions of dollars in loan balances from college students to you and me, giving chosen favorites massive breaks on mortgages, or handing millions in grant money from the so-called Inflation Reduction Act to activists who support illegal immigration, Biden acts as if limits set by Congress are just for us little people. From a man who likes to say that democracy hangs by a thread and who claims to uphold the rule of law, this approach is ironic. Congress intended immigration parole to be used by the secretary of the Department of Homeland Security to allow a few hundred migrants a year into the country, in exceptional circumstances. But the president has used it to create a string of “McVisa” programs benefiting Afghans, then Ukrainians, and then Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans. He used it for aliens to book an appointment on the CBP One app so they could just show up at a port of entry, then to allow family members from favored countries to cut the line and wait here instead of at home. This latest idea jammed through the parole loophole by Biden is called “parole in place.” It’s based on some bogus premises, starting with pretending that someone living in the U.S. illegally for more than a decade is “applying for entry” today. (That would be like describing someone who showed up on your porch tomorrow but didn’t ring the doorbell until 10 years later as a “visitor.”) Critics describe parole in place as an “amnesty” because under U.S. immigration law, aliens who’ve entered illegally can’t get green cards through their spouses because they’ve never been “admitted.” This isn’t just “bureaucratic hurdles,” as The Washington Post would have you believe. It was a deliberate attempt by Congress to make it harder for migrants to enter the U.S. illegally and stay with impunity. Congress mandated a three-year bar from returning to the U.S. for those who have been here illegally between 6 to 12 months, and a 10-year bar for those illegally present for more than a year. But illegal alien spouses may apply for a waiver to these bars from a DHS subagency, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, for which many are approved every year. Biden’s new amnesty once again subverts the will of Congress by treating an alien who is paroled the same as someone who was legally admitted, thus eliminating the three- and 10-year bars to return. Once paroled, the half-million alien spouses he paroles in place can apply for green cards and, in due course, become citizens. This is not only unlawful and unfair, but will encourage yet more illegal immigration, fraud, and massive access to already stretched federal and state benefits. It also will throw another half-million cases onto Citizenship and Immigration Services’ already impossible workload. The Obama administration tried out the parole-in-place concept, but limited it to illegal alien spouses of U.S. military service members. Biden’s program widens the availability to all aliens living illegally in the U.S.—who either entered illegally or came on a visa and overstayed—if they have been married to an American citizen for at least 10 years. Since January 2021, Biden has released millions of aliens at the border with no idea who they are—including the Venezuelan gang member accused of murdering Laken Riley and the suspected multiple killer from El Salvador now accused of murdering a Maryland mother of five, Rachel Morin. Biden has released so many illegal aliens so fast that there are now 7.4 million who should be detained under our laws by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (another DHS subagency), but roam free, mostly untracked, on a “Non-Detained Docket” of deportation cases. “Parole in place” will allow foreign nationals living here illegally to jump ahead of millions who are patiently waiting legally in line in their home countries to join family or get jobs in America. Having let in up to 10 million inadmissible aliens by negligence, incompetence, and scoffing at U.S. laws, Biden now is going for broke. But rather than using jerry-rigged workarounds to achieve mass migration and amnesty, the president should stick to persuading Congress to approve his policies. That’s the real rule of law. Oliver Freaks Civil Service Reform Will Lead Trump To Be Like George Wallace

The Rube Goldberg-like logic train that sits inside of John Oliver’s brain was on full display on Sunday's Last Week Tonight on HBO, where he warned that former President Donald Trump and the Heritage Foundation’s Project 2025’s plans for civil service reform could lead to the former governing like segregationist Gov. George Wallace. Project 2025 styles itself as the blueprint for the governing agenda for a second Trump term and is an 887-page doorstopper that has become the boogeyman for liberals trying to scaremonger about a second Trump term. However, it’s mostly basic conservatism. Regardless, Oliver focused on one specific part: I do get that ‘Trump unraveling civil service protections’ isn't the sexiest headline, but it's also the action that could unlock his ability to do all the incredibly damaging things that he and those involved in Project 2025 have been planning. So, what do we do here? Well, the simple thing is, don't vote for Donald Trump. I don't know if you were planning on doing that, but I think it should be clear by now that the official position of this show is that you should not vote for Donald Trump. Not for president, not for winner of The Masked Singer, basically not for anything.     Basically, Trump’s plan is to take 50,000 civil service jobs and turn them into political appointees. Oliver reckons that with 50,000 additional Trump loyalists in charge, implementing the rest of Project 2025 will be much easier, therefore everyone needs to vote for Biden, “And while I have a lot of problems with Biden, he's clearly the better of the two options. Which I recognize is a low bar. Being better than Donald Trump cannot be the standard, because Trump himself is the very absence of a standard. But the truth is, even if Trump loses, that won't be the end of this. The people who cooked up Project 2025 will just move on to Project 2029 instead, because for them, this is about so much more than just one election, or indeed, one candidate.” For Oliver, this is allegedly how Trump becomes George Wallace, “Project 2025 is born from an impulse as old as America. It's an impulse that says one class of Americans is entitled to lead, and the rest of us are lucky to be allowed to serve. That thinks there should be a limited government when it comes to rules they have to live by, but also a unitary executive to keep the rest of us in line. These are old, old ideas that have been shouted from podiums by the likes of George Wallace and Pat Buchanan, but have now been placed into a new playbook for an only-too-willing president to use on day one.” Oliver also expressed the feeling that people deserve better than to sit around and hope a certain two Supreme Court justices die, “And in a perfect world, I'd love if we had an opposing party better able to articulate a strong defense of our country's ideals, and that also consistently lived up to them. People are entitled to hope for more from the next four years than someone just ‘Not being Trump,’ and for at least two Supreme Court justices to die. I'm not saying which ones I'd prefer, but I think we all have our top two.” Circling back to Trump, Oliver again implored voters to vote against him, “And for anyone tempted to think, ‘Well, we survived Trump's first term,’ first not everyone did. And it should hopefully be clear by now, a second Trump term really promises to be far, far worse. Because if Trump’s first term was defined by chaos, his second could be defined by ruthless efficiency.” Whether Trump turns 50,000 civil service positions into political ones is something that remains to be seen. What we can be sure of is that a second Trump term will not bring about George Wallace-ism. Here is a transcript for the June 16 show: HBO Last Week Tonight with John Oliver 6/16/2024 11:34 PM ET JOHN OLIVER: I do get that "Trump unraveling civil service protections" isn't the sexiest headline, but it's also the action that could unlock his ability to do all the incredibly damaging things that he and those involved in Project 2025 have been planning. Morning Joe Rages at 'Cheapfake' Joe Biden Videos, Mika Loses Hope Against 'Lies'

Applying the Gipper's timeless rule, Morning Joe was losing today. Except for a few minutes of gloating over the Celtics NBA championship, the remainder of the first half-hour was devoted to trying to explain away recent videos suggesting a dazed and confused Biden. Mika Brzezinski was particularly distraught, quoting a Democrat strategist: "As one Democratic strategist puts it, quote, 'The lie sprinting the 100-meter dash and the fact check is taking a stroll on the beach.'".She lamented that the people voting "for democracy" (Biden) are "never gonna have a chance against lies, disinformation, and crazy insults."  Joe Scarborough tried to console her, saying Dems will just have to "work harder" to get that supposed truth out. "If you look at Donald Trump's track record and Donald Trump's Republican party over the last seven years, they're 0-7." It was telling that the only video shown was the one from the G7 summit, where Biden doddered away from the rest of the group. Yes, he was greeting landing paratroopers, but Biden was the only one who wandered off, unaware that there was a group photo shoot underway, and having to be led back by the Italian prime minister. And whatever Biden's intentions, his halting gait and lost aura were unmistakeable.  Morning Joe didn't dare display the video of Biden having to be led off the stage by Barack Obama at a recent Los Angeles fundraiser. Karine Jean-Pierre's laughable explanation was that Obama and Biden are "like family" and Barack was just putting his arm around his old buddy Biden. Riight. Such close friends that Obama tried to discourage Biden from running in 2016 and 2020. And then there was the famous episode in which, Obama, suffering as Biden droned endlessly on during a confirmation hearing, passed an aide a "Shoot. Me. Now" note. Scarborough also contradicted himself in glaring fashion. After spending the segment kvetching about conservatives supposedly misrepresenting the videos, Scarborough claimed that in doing so, "they're only helping Joe Biden" by lowering expectations. If so, surely the astute political mind that is Scarborough would simply keep his trap shut, and let those right-wingers continue to aid Biden's cause! Here's the transcript. MSNBC Morning Joe 6/18/23 6:01 am EDT MIKA BRZEZINSKI: The White House is slamming cheapfake videos spread by right-wing media which are edited to make President Biden look confused. We'll go through the fight against clips with no context, and some edited and misleading. . . .  JOE SCARBOROUGH: You know, the age issue for both of these candidates, that's a real issue. MIKA: Yeah. SCARBOROUGH: So talk about the issue. You want to talk about it? I think everybody thinks both of these candidates are older than they're comfortable with, both of them.  That said, make those issues, don't make up others. MIKA: Well, and also, I think when those on the right try to make it look like Biden is out of his mind, or the Wall Street Journal does a front-page piece saying Biden is completely slipping, and they don't notice at the very same time that they're covering Biden in this way that is misleading, Donald Trump is onstage talking about sharks and batteries, and really looks like he's slipping.  . . .  JONATHAN LEMIRE: The New York Post, let's just take that as an example. They knew better. It had been hour -- it had been a full day earlier in the aftermath of that moment in Normandy. It was completely debunked. There's videos from other angles, not just put out by the Biden campaign, but put out by independent observers, saying, no, no, President Biden was not meandering off. He was going to salute to one of the other parachutists and the prime minister signaled him. He came back to take that photograph For hours, that was a done story. And the New York Post put it on thefront page anyway the following morning and tried to turn it into something it was not. . . .  SCARBOROUGH: Jonathan, Jonathan's right. You have to start asking are these coming on high? When you have the same news organization doing what Jonathan just said, deliberately lying about a shot, cropping it in the way they know they're lying to the readers. Right? And that comes about a week after the Wall Street Journal story that they know is misleading. No reasonable person could not know it's misleading. And again, why we bring this up. We bring it up just to say this is, we've now expanded far out from just deepfakes on Twitter/X, other social media, TikTok, to now deepfakes, or cheapfakes even, in the New York Post and other publications. . .  . SCARBOROUGH: They lie about their lies, which, of course, you would expect liars to lie about their lies.  MIAK: We are talking about Trump's -- SCARBOROUGH: They're lying about their cheapfake. By the way, I just, I got to say this one more time. They're only helping Joe Biden, they're only lowering expectations. They do it before every State of the Union address, and then afterwards, they're so freaked out that Biden did well, they say he must have been on cocaine.  . . .  MIKA: The Washington Post has reported about how these cheapfakes were used to attack Biden during his recent trip to Normandy. And we showed you last week the Trump campaign sharing a clip which appeared to show President Biden at the G7 summit wandering off from other world leaders before the Italian prime minister comes over to alert him of a group photo. But when you see the video from a different angle, you see the whole story. After a skydiver landed in front of the president and other leaders, President Biden turns to his left where there are troops. The president appears to say something to them, and gives them the thumb's up before he is tapped on the arm by the Italian prime minister. As these cheapfakes continue to circulate, there is growing concern that attempts to fact check them may not be able to keep up. As one Democratic strategist puts it, quote, "The lie sprinting the 100-meter dash and the fact check is taking a stroll on the beach." So, it's never going to catch up, and it's never going to have the same reach. And this is the problem. And this is why the debate, everything about this campaign will make somebody who is in support of democracy, and perhaps would even choose Joe Biden over Donald Trump just in support of democracy, never gonna have a chance against lies, disinformation, and crazy insults. SCARBOROUGH: Never going to have a chance. Michael Steele, I disagree. They will have a chance. In fact, if you look at Donald Trump's track record and Donald Trump's Republican party over the last seven years, they're 0-7. So, yeah, maybe the Biden team's going to have to work harder. Maybe Democrats are going to have to work harder. Maybe people who actually like American democracy are going to work harder. But they just have to work harder, and get the word out that these people are lying. Not only is the RNC lying, but also mainstream media outlets are now all in on the lies.

Examining Security in Contemporary Disaster Preparedness, From Normal to Noachian," Ellis noted that at least 11.4 million people "have the means to survive at home for 31 days or more after a disaster." Earlier this year, Ellis told Reuters that the number of "preppers" — survivalists who "take a variety of active steps to prepare for future disasters at levels often far beyond official recommendations of 3-14 days — has grown to roughly 20 million people. Ellis reached this conclusion on the basis of household resiliency data from the Federal Emergency Management Agency. Attendees of the March Longmont Survival and Prepper Show in Boulder provided Reuters with some indications of why the number of preppers has ballooned in recent years. Supply chain disruptions during the pandemic, lawlessness, power grid issues, and phone signal outages were among the reasons cited. While millions are preparing for the worst, others aren't bothering with the wait. On a 1,245-acre plot of land in Juab County, Utah, 55 miles west of Santaquin and roughly 40 miles north of Delta, a group of homesteaders have been developing a community committed to one of the prepper's key objectives: self-reliance. 'Now, with everything that's happening, we wonder if it's far enough.' Philip Gleason, the founder of the Utah [Operation Self-Reliance] Land Co-op at Riverbed Ranch, told Deseret News that some of the 130 predominantly Mormon families who have secured 2-acre parcels on the property came to escape the "cultural revolution in the U.S." underway. "At the start of any cultural revolution, the people that control their food are the ones that come out on top," said Gleason. A mother from California sought refuge to escape what she perceived to be LGBT propaganda in schools. A couple from Portland told DeseretNews they simply "needed to get out," noting "[t]hey've lost their minds." Others journeyed out for health reasons. According to Gleason, most "just want a safe place to raise family and food." "When we first came out here, we thought it might be too far away," said Gleason. "Now, with everything that's happening, we wonder if it's far enough." Despite having similar goals, fears, and literature, Gleason suggested the people who have joined his off-grid community since he settled down in 2021 are nevertheless resistive to the "preppers" label. Upon purchasing a lot, shareholders reportedly agree to build a house, a barn, and a greenhouse; install a septic system; produce solar energy; and dig a well. There are no sanitation utilities or shared power systems. Fortunately, under the valley flood is a flowing freshwater aquifer, meaning well-building is not an exercise in futility. According to the Riverside Ranch website, residents — who are apparently "very pleased" with their Starlink Internet connections — must still pass Juab County's building inspections, which follows the International Residential Code. Extra to meeting building codes, residents still must pay county taxes. Apparently, there are plans to build similar communities in Arizona, Wyoming, Idaho, and Alberta, Canada. Gleason's company, OSR Green LLC, has apparently bought up 1,298 acres near Snowflake, Arizona, where it will build Coslor Cove, which will allegedly become the state's largest off-grid community. Whereas other rural refuges such as the Vivos Global Shelter Network's bunker systems appear to be highly individualistic and private, Riverbed Ranch appears to offer a far more integrated communitarian approach. Deseret News noted that the community's over 70 children are home-schooled with some parental crossover in the way of instruction. Medical troubles are addressed by volunteers — although Gleason admitted to requiring a life-flight helicopter ride back to civilization when he broke his femur last year. While cash trades hands for various purchases, trades are reportedly also conducted in livestock, bread, and dairy. "When we have this all built out," Gleason told Deseret, "we might be the third or fourth largest community in the county." Like Blaze News?
