Dragon Age The Veilguard dev isn’t worried about Baldur’s Gate 3

Dragon Age: Origins is, for me, the magnum opus of companion-centric RPGs. There's romance and flirting, bickering and all-out fighting, all made plausible by a colorful cast of perfectly crafted fantasy characters. While Dragon Age 2 featured the excellent Fenris and Isabela, and Inquisition killed it with Solas and Josephine (although I still want Vivienne), both have since been outclassed by Larian's Baldur's Gate 3. Given I still see Astarion's face at least once a day on my Twitter timeline, BG3 feels like 'the game to live up to,' so I ask Dragon Age: The Veilguard's creative director, John Epler, if BG3's success scares him. AMD just tore up the rulebook on GPU design

AMD has patented a new GPU design that takes a radically new approach to building a graphics chip. The patent details an AMD GPU design that contains 14 chiplets, which are divided into several sections, enabling it to all act as one single GPU, or even multiple GPUs. The best graphics cards from AMD, such as the Radeon RX 7800 XT, are already divided into several chiplets under the hood, but the GPU itself is still all in one chip – what we call a monolithic die. It’s only the cache that’s separated out into extra chiplets on these GPUs. Conversely, this AMD patent effectively details nine separate GPU dies in one chip package. Marvel Rivals Devs Talk Player Accessibility And Why The Term "Rivals" Is So Important

Back in March this year, NetEase Games and Marvel Games officially revealed the team-based PvP run-and-gun, Marvel Rivals. The upcoming title will feature 6v6 battles and, like Fortnite, will be completely free for shooter fans to play. Since its unveiling, some have said that it looks like another Overwatch "knock-off", with industry insider Tom Henderson even getting in on the action by saying, "That new Overwatch Marvel DLC looks pretty cool."

The Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are selling for a new all-time low of $119.99

The Galaxy Buds 2 Pro are compact and come in Samsung’s excellent purple color (as well as the typical white and black). | Photo by Chris Welch / The Verge Samsung’s excellent Galaxy Buds 2 Pro wireless earbuds have fallen to a new low price, selling for just $119.99 ($110 off) at Woot. That’s a screamer of a deal if I’ve ever seen one, as these flagship noise-canceling earbuds from Samsung are exceptionally light and comfy and sound great. Samsung includes some extra features for Galaxy phone owners to take advantage of, like 24-bit audio, spatial audio head tracking, and auto-switching among Samsung devices, but anyone can enjoy how good these compact buds sound. And at this price, you’d normally be shopping for a midrange earbud like the third-gen AirPods, not something in the “Pro” tier with ANC. We’ve regularly seen the Buds 2 Pro fall as low as $160 (which is still a good value), but... Continue reading…

US sues Adobe for ‘deceiving’ subscriptions that are too hard to cancel

Illustration by Alex Castro / The Verge The US government is suing Adobe for allegedly hiding expensive fees and making it difficult to cancel a subscription. In the complaint filed on Monday, the Department of Justice claims Adobe “has harmed consumers by enrolling them in its default, most lucrative subscription plan without clearly disclosing important plan terms.” The lawsuit alleges Adobe “hides” the terms of its annual, paid monthly plan in the “fine print and behind optional textboxes and hyperlinks,” adding that the company fails to properly disclose the early termination fee incurred upon cancellation “that can amount to hundreds of dollars.” When customers do attempt to cancel, the DOJ alleges that Adobe requires them to go through an “onerous and complicated”...
