Morning Joe Mocks Trump Name Bumble, Hits 'Right-Wing Stooges' Faking Biden Clips

MSNBC's Morning Joe kicked off the week on Monday by running a clip of Donald Trump suggesting Biden should take a cognitive test, like the one he passed with his own former White House doctor Ronny Jackson, but he said Ronny "Johnson."  This led to several unfunny gibes, with Joe Scarborough calling John Heilemann "John Heinz" and then Heilemann calling Joe "Jim" and "Chuck" (Chuck Scarborough was an NBC anchor in New York city.)  SCARBOROUGH: I'm not good at this politics thing. MIKA: Ugh [makes a face, either at Joe's antics, or Trump's]. SCARBOROUGH: But I'm guessing that if you're going to make fun of your opponent for being cognitively disconnected from, from facts and figures, it's probably good for you to not be disconnect cognitively from facts and figures as Donald Trump was this weekend.  JOHN HEILEMANN: Well, Jim, it's good to see you this morning here on Monday. [Mika chuckles, Scarborough sardonically winks.] Or is it Chuck? Chuck Scarborough? Jim Scarborough? The funny part came came when Joe Scarborough attacked Trump's "right-wing stooges" for suggesting Biden's mentally failing. As if Scarborough isn't a stooge for Biden, angrily arguing Biden's the sharpest he's ever been? SCARBOROUGH: The Trump campaign has -- understands they have a serious problem with Donald Trump on facts, on issues, on you name it. Because they have to keep engaging in cheap fakes to try to make Joe Biden look bad.  And you go to this weekend; and they've done it over the past several weeks. They've got the New York Post doing it, the RNC's doing it, all of these right-wing stooges on X are doing it. And [laughs] if you have to make [pauses] stuff [instead of "shit" which he recently said] up, if you've gotta make stuff up, obviously, you don't feel like you have a strong enough campaign to win outright. MIKA: No. I mean, they're grasping in many different ways, but I think that's just Trump being Trump, getting names wrong and getting information wrong. And I don't think he cares At the end of the segment, Scarborough said he feared having a president like Trump with storm clouds of "World War II" on the horizon. That was, of course, an allusion to Trump mistakenly warning, recently, about the danger of Biden leading us into World War II rather than III.  But Mika didn't get the joke, and just took the line at face value, flatly agreeing, "yeah, absolutely." Maybe she thought it was Joe's bumble, and didn't want to draw attention to it. Here's the transcript. MSNBC Morning Joe 6/17/24 6:00 am EDT DONALD TRUMP: Joe Biden has no plan. He's got absolutely no plan. He doesn't even know what the word inflation means. I don't think if you gave him a quiz. I think he should take a cognitive test like I did. I took a cognitive test, and I aced it. Doc Ronnie. Doc Ronnie Johnson. Does everybody know Doc Ronnie Johnson, congressman from Texas? He was the White House doctor. MIKA BRZEZINSKI: No, actually, they don't know him. They don't know Ronnie Johnson. JOE SCARBOROUGH: They don't know Ronnie Johnson. Who's Ronnie Johnson? MIKA: There's nothing like mocking your opponent's mental acuity -- SCARBOROUGH: There's a Randy Johnson. He was a pitcher --  MIKA: And messing up the name of the doctor who actually administered your own cognitive test who is sitting in the audience. SCARBOROUGH: Person, man, woman, horse, Ronnie Johnson. MIKA: The name of Trump's former White House physician turned U.S. Congressman is Ronnie Jackson. SCARBOROUGH: Wait, what? MIKA: Not Johnson. SCARBOROUGH: What? MIKA: Good morning. And welcome to Morning Joe. SCARBOROUGH: That's kind of confusing. MIKA: It's Monday, June 17th. So what else is new, right?  With us, we have NBC News national affairs analyst and a partner and chief political columnist at Puck, John Heilemann.  SCARBOROUGH: John Heinz: personal, close friend of mine.  MIKA: Pulitzer Prize columnist and associate editor for the Washington Post, and MSNBC political analyst Eugene Robinson. Chief White House correspondent for the New York Times, Peter Baker. And the co-host of MSNBC's The Weekend, also doing Way Too Early, also co-host of Morning Mika,  Symone Sanders-Townsend. Thanks for all of you being in early on Monday morning. So -- [Scarborough cuts her off]  SCARBOROUGH: So John, John, John, Heilemann. MIKA: Oh. Right. SCARBOROUGH: I figure. I'm not good at this politics thing,  MIKA: Ugh [pulls a face]. SCARBOROUGH: Joe. HEILEMANN: Joe Scarborough. MIKA: Yeah. HEILEMANN: I mean, glass houses, man, you don't want to be throwing stones at -- MIKA: Yeah. HEILEMANN: People who live in glass houses shouldn't be throwing stones. That's all I'll say about that. SCARBOROUGH: Well, you know, and the thing is, too, it's getting, it's getting really more obvious, Mika, that they have, the Trump campaign has, understands they have a serious problem with Donald Trump on facts, on issues, on you name it. And I don't think he cares. Our top story -- [Mika grimaces as Scarborough again cuts her off.] SCARBOROUGH: Well, you know, I fear having a president like that, I really do. With storm clouds of World War II on the horizon. MIKA: Yeah. Oh, for sure. Absolutely.

What you need to know about Ozempic according to Jillian Michaels

Ozempic has quickly become a household name in recent years due to its reputation as the newest miracle weight-loss drug. The medication was first approved by the FDA in 2017 to treat individuals with Type 2 diabetes, but over time, it has become a popular method for anyone seeking to drop a few pounds — so popular that shortages in the United States have been an issue. But how safe is Ozempic? And is it really as effective as it claims to be? Dave Rubin, who suspects Ozempic “will not be on the market forever,” plays a clip of fitness expert and certified nutritionist Jillian Michaels explaining to Sage Steele the reality of a drug like Ozempic. Here are her three takeaways: “You will plateau on this drug,” she promised, calling the assertion a “fact.” The reason for this inevitable plateau is because Ozempic increases Glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1), which is a hormone the body produces naturally to regulate insulin. However, “When you are giving the body a hormone exogenously, over time the body is like, ‘Oh I'm going to stop making this on my own, oh I’m going to develop a tolerance to this,”’ Michaels explained. And when the drugs inevitably “stop working physiologically,” and you “get off of [Ozempic],” Michaels says, “You will gain all of the weight back,” meaning that “you’re handcuffed to this drug for the rest of your life.” “All of the meta analyses show us this — Google it,” she told Steele. If you do choose to get off of Ozempic, however, here’s what happens: According to Dr. Peter Attia, a physician and researcher of longevity medicine who’s conducted studies on the effects of drugs like Ozempic, individuals who cease taking the drug experience “muscle loss at an alarming rate” and “compromised bone density.” That means “your metabolism is going to be slower,” says Michaels. “You have been starving your body because you aren’t eating for such a long period of time that you will then lower your metabolic set point.” What’s even more concerning is that, according to studies, “individuals who went through a period of famine” ended up “[passing] on a slower metabolism to their offspring” because to compensate for food scarcity, their bodies made “biochemical shifts” that “marked their epigenome.” Bottom line: “There is a devastating rebound effect when people get off the drugs,” Michaels said. Dave isn’t surprised a bit by Michaels’ reports. “I will tell you just anecdotally I know a couple people that either were or are on Ozempic and have had insane weight loss ... it is so obvious to me that this cannot be good for your system,” he tells Dr. Jay Bhattacharya and Dr. Drew Pinsky. “You're going to begin to hear about people who died on Ozempic,” says Dr. Pinsky, adding that Michaels “is 100% right in all of it.” To learn more about the side effects of Ozempic, including bowel obstructions, paralysis of the stomach, and sarcopenia, watch the clip below. Rob Konrad: Former Dolphin who swam for his family

In 2005, former Miami Dolphin Rob Konrad was fishing alone nine miles off the Florida coast when a wave knocked him overboard. He wasn't wearing a life preserver in 72-degree water — certainly cold enough to become a problem after a few hours. When he couldn't catch his boat (cruising east on autopilot at five mph), he decided to swim west until he reached land. Sixteen hours later, he crawled on the sand at West Palm Beach, half-dead from hypothermia, dehydration, and rhabdomyolysis. He had swum 27 miles through the night, enduring jellyfish stings, a menacing shark, and two heartbreaking near-rescues.Although relatively young at 38 and in excellent shape, Konrad was not an especially experienced swimmer. So, how did he manage this superhuman feat? At the time, endurance swimmer Diana Nyad chalked it up to mindset: "We're not really talking about a swimming story. We're talking about a survival story. I'm sure his background as an athlete — toughness, having resolve, knowing things are going to be painful — were the saving grace for him."Konrad also had something else driving him:“I have two beautiful daughters,” he said, his wife, Tammy, by his side as he spoke to reporters a few days later. “I was hitting that shore.”We're all adrift, floating on the vast, unfathomable sea of existence, our only choice what to cling to. Becoming a family man might not save your life, as it seems to have saved Konrad's, but it could make it worth saving. It also helps to have some solid swim training. Two-thirds of American adults cannot swim the length of a 25-yard pool. The late Terry Laughlin's innovation was to understand this not as a lack of fitness, but as a lack of skill. His Total Immersion swimming program teaches swimmers of all levels to swim with efficiency and ease. Tim Ferriss offers a particularly detailed and grateful review here. Seventy-one percent of the Earth is covered by water; best to be prepared should you encounter some.

Elden Ring Scadutree Fragments explained

What are Elden Ring Scadutree Fragments? Historically, balancing difficulty has been one of the key issues with making DLC for games such as Dark Souls. This time, though, the open-ended design of Elden Ring and the sheer power available to the player-controlled Tarnished is vast. So to keep things balanced, Shadow of the Erdtree introduces two new items, and one of them directly affects the player's stats. Seeking these shards in Elden Ring will take time, patience, and a keen eye, and the same can be said for the Elden Ring Revered Spirit Ashes. That said, there's plenty you can do ahead of the RPG game's DLC launch to improve your survival rate. Make sure you find the best Elden Ring weapons in the base game to craft the finest Elden Ring builds for your chosen playstyle; you're probably going to need all the help you can get. Elden Ring Revered Spirit Ashes explained

What are Elden Ring Revered Spirit Ashes? While they aren't quite as important as the Scadutree Fragments, the Revered Spirit Ashes have multiple buffs, making them a must-find item in the DLC. If you heavily rely on Spirit Ashes to assist you in fights against the toughest bosses, you'll want to seek them out as soon as possible. Fallout 4 mod adds fan-favorite Skyrim voice actor as a new companion

Fallout 4 has been enjoying a huge resurgence in popularity thanks to Amazon's television adaptation. Of course, as with any Bethesda game, players are modding it constantly, so much so that the NexusMods servers recently struggled with the influx of new players. While most mods are fan passion projects, sometimes they manage to attract the attention and support of people on the professional side of games, and Shady Motives is one of those lucky few. Best blue light blocking glasses: for work and play on your screens

A pair of the best blue light blocking glasses could be just what you need to protect your eyes from eye strain and prevent those pesky screen-related headaches from occurring. If, like me, you’re constantly staring at a computer screen and are becoming a little concerned about the impact of all that artificial light, then you might want to think seriously about splashing out on a pair of blue light glasses.  If you’re the kind of gamer who gets easily addicted to the best PC games, leading to spending hours sitting in front of a computer screen, blue light glasses should be a non-negotiable part of your kit. Feeling overwhelmed when it comes to selecting the right blue light blocking glasses? For this guide, I’ve chosen blue light glasses based on how well they perform, how comfortable they are to wear, and the quality of their designs. Gunnar is a well-known name and, often, the go-to for blue light gaming glasses, but I’ve also been impressed by some less well-known brands.  When choosing a pair of the best-rated light-blocking glasses, take into account your budget, the design, and how comfortable they will be to wear. After all, you could be wearing them for hours at a time. We’ve tried and tested a whole bunch of glasses, in a bid to make sure that we’re only recommending the very best options.  Continue reading Best blue light blocking glasses: for work and play on your screens MORE FROM PCGAMESN: Best graphics card, Best gaming PC, Best SSD for gaming
