Maher Blasts Biden For Fake Change In Stance On Immigration: ‘He Did Nothing’

Comedian Bill Maher slammed President Joe Biden this week for his continued failure to secure America’s southern border, saying that Biden’s executive order this week is effectively meaningless and will change nothing. Maher made the remarks during his “Real Time” show Friday evening on HBO while talking about the reason that he believes Biden is going to lose in a rematch this November against former President Donald Trump. “If Biden loses this election, it’s going to be because of two things: He’s old … and immigration,” Maher said. “I mean, just on a political level, I don’t think they could have handled it worse.” “He’s finally, after saying he couldn’t do anything, he’s gonna issue an executive order — by the way, this is the same executive order Trump tried to get through the courts and they didn’t let him do it,” he said. “But he’s gonna finally try it six months before the election, which says we will put a cap of 2,500 now, asylum seekers coming in. If it passes 2,500, if it’s 2,501, then we automatically close the border. Fire marshall says ‘No more!’ He’s gonna come here and close the club! And if you don’t have a stamp on your hand, you can’t get back in!” “But when it goes down to 1,500, then we resume standard asylum procedures. It’s like surge-pricing with Uber,” he continued. “It’s a bizarre scheme that of course has pleased nobody. It looks like a last minute — it looks like he did nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing.” Maher then claimed that Republicans spiked a bill on the border because they didn’t want it to pass despite the fact that most Republicans who came out against the bill did so because they pointed out that it would have effectively made Biden’s illegal immigration crisis even worse. “Now [Biden’s executive order] looks like this is his last minute before-the-election Hail Mary pass, and it’s not gonna succeed,” Maher said as he then noted that Biden has let in nearly 10 million illegal aliens into the country, a number greater than the entire population of Nicaragua. Democrats’ Fear of Trump’s Retribution: A Self-Inflicted Wound?

Democrats’ Fear of Trump’s Retribution: A Self-Inflicted Wound?

As former President Donald Trump eyes a potential return to the White House, a palpable fear of retribution grips the Democratic Party. Many Democrats, who have relentlessly pursued Trump through investigations and impeachments, now face the prospect of a Trump second term with trepidation. The anxiety is largely rooted in Trump's own words and actions, signaling a vendetta against those he perceives as enemies. Trump has not shied away from suggesting that his second term would focus on retribution. He told his supporters, "I am your retribution," a statement that underscores his intent to settle scores with Democrats and others who have opposed him. This rhetoric has intensified fears within the Democratic Party that a Trump victory in 2024 could lead to targeted actions against them. Hannity is chastising Trump for saying he wants retribution. Why is @seanhannity such a buzz kill? Hey Sean! When the FBI raids your home and makes you a political prisoner, maybe you will understand why we want retribution. Until then, just shut up please. Unreal. — Laura Loomer (@LauraLoomer) June 6, 2024 Many Democrats acknowledge that their own actions have contributed to this climate of fear. The numerous investigations into Trump, particularly surrounding the January 6 Capitol riot and his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results, have not only kept Trump in the spotlight but have also fueled his narrative of being persecuted. This has galvanized his base, making him a formidable contender in the upcoming election. In a recent ProPublica interview, President Joe Biden emphasized the importance of voter participation to counter the threat posed by Trump. Biden urged Americans to engage in conversations with those who have embraced extremism and stressed the need for high voter turnout in 2024 to safeguard democracy. This call to action reflects the Democratic Party's strategy to mobilize its base against the backdrop of Trump's looming presence. DR. PHIL: What if when you win this election, you said enough is enough? It stops here, it stops now. They've made a half dozen major attempts to take you off the board. If you said I forgive—not forget—and I'm moving forward, not playing the retribution game? TRUMP: I'm okay… pic.twitter.com/AWxXaoPpFM — Trump War Room (@TrumpWarRoom) June 7, 2024 The fear within the Democratic ranks is not unfounded. Trump’s political agility and ability to reinvent himself on key issues, such as abortion, make him a potent adversary. Despite his controversial stances, Trump has shown a knack for shifting his positions to appeal to a broader audience, thereby maintaining his influence within the Republican Party and among voters. Moreover, recent polls suggest that Trump remains a significant threat to Biden's re-election bid. An NBC News poll showed Biden holding a narrow lead over Trump, well within the margin of error, indicating a highly competitive race. This narrow gap reflects the enduring support for Trump among his base and the challenges Biden faces in consolidating his own support. Democrats like former Rep. Tim Ryan and Mandela Barnes have voiced concerns about underestimating Trump. They argue that the party must take the threat seriously and proactively communicate Biden's accomplishments to counter Trump's appeal. This approach aims to prevent a repeat of the 2016 election, where key battleground states like Wisconsin played a crucial role in Trump's victory. In summary, the Democrats' fear of Trump's retribution is both a reflection of his declared intentions and a consequence of their sustained opposition to him. As the 2024 election approaches, the party faces the daunting task of not only defending their record but also galvanizing voters to prevent a Trump resurgence. The outcome of this political battle will significantly shape the future direction of the United States. If I told you veterans from across Battlefield, Mirror's Edge, Little Nightmares, and more were making a debut game for a new studio, what type of game comes to mind?
