Out of the 11 Artifacts in Ark Survival Ascended The Center, you only need six for the tribute for the boss arena, with the others not really having a use. You can collect them all anyway in their respective caves, although note down the ones you’ll need for the boss if you’re after it. Best Clorinde build in Genshin Impact Clorinde is best used as a DPS team member, better yet a main DPS. She’s great at dealing quick Electro DMG to enemies while on-field, and she can also stay mobile on the battlefield while still using her attacks and skills. Here’s how you can properly build Clorinde in Genshin Impact. Image: HoYoverse Best Artifacts There are a few great Artifacts to choose from for Clorinde, but the one Artifacts set you should go for is Fragment of Harmonic Whimsy. The Real Story of Edward Mordrake: The Man with Two Faces

The Real Story of Edward Mordrake: The Man with Two Faces

Edward Mordrake, often referred to as the “man with two faces,” was reportedly a 19th-century heir to an English peerage. According to legend, he had an extra face on the back of his head, which could neither eat nor speak, although it could laugh and cry. Edward allegedly begged doctors to remove his “demon head” because it whispered sinister things to him at night, but no doctor would attempt the risky procedure. The story concludes with Mordrake committing suicide at the age of 23. He was said to have been the heir to one of the noblest peerages in England. He never claimed the title, however. He reportedly lived in complete seclusion, refusing visits even from his own family. His case was incredibly strange, and he believed that the best way to live his life was to stay away from the public. Wax sculpture of Edward The Origins of the Legend The story of Edward Mordrake first gained widespread attention in the late 19th century. The primary source of the tale is an entry in the 1896 book “Anomalies and Curiosities of Medicine,” authored by George M. Gould and Walter L. Pyle. They described Mordrake’s condition as one of the most severe deformities ever recorded, highlighting the peculiarity of having two faces on opposite sides of one head. The book presented the story as a factual case study, which contributed to the legend’s credibility. An image on social media purportedly shows the mummified skull of Edward Mordrake, a man said to have been born with two-faces. The claim, however, is false. The image shows a papier-mâché sculpture by the artist Ewart Schindler. Excerpt from a book: “He was a young man of fine attainments, a profound scholar, and a musician of rare ability. His figure was remarkable for its grace, and his face — that is to say, his natural face — was that of an Antinous. “But upon the back of his head was another face, that of a beautiful girl, “lovely as a dream, hideous as a devil.” The female face was a mere mask, “occupying only a small portion of the posterior part of the skull, yet exhibiting every sign of intelligence, of a malignant sort, however.” It would be seen to smile and sneer while Mordake was weeping. “The eyes would follow the movements of the spectator, and the lips “would gibber without ceasing.” No voice was audible, but Mordake avers that he was kept from his rest at night by the hateful whispers of his “devil twin”, as he called it, “which never sleeps, but talks to me forever of such things as they only speak of in Hell. “No imagination can conceive the dreadful temptations it sets before me. For some unforgiven wickedness of my forefathers, I am knit to this fiend — for a fiend it surely is. I beg and beseech you to crush it out of human semblance, even if I die for it.” Such were the words of the hapless Mordake to Manvers and Treadwell, his physicians. “In spite of careful watching, he managed to procure poison, whereof he died, leaving a letter requesting that the “demon face” might be destroyed before his burial, “lest it continues its dreadful whisperings in my grave.” At his own request, he was interred in a waste place, without stone or legend to mark his grave. Culture The tale of Edward Mordrake has been perpetuated and embellished over time, particularly through its portrayal in various media. The television series “American Horror Story: Freak Show” featured a character based on Mordrake, introducing the legend to a new generation and cementing its place in popular culture. This dramatized portrayal, while not historically accurate, highlights the enduring intrigue surrounding Mordrake’s story. Tom Waits also contributed to the legend’s cultural footprint with his song “Poor Edward,” featured on his album “Alice.” The song narrates Mordrake’s tragic story, further popularizing the myth. Medical Anomalies and The Question of Authenticity From a medical perspective, the condition attributed to Edward Mordrake resembles a rare congenital disorder known as diprosopus, or craniofacial duplication. Diprosopus involves the duplication of facial features and is extremely rare. Most cases result in severe deformities and are typically fatal shortly after birth. The detailed description of Mordrake’s secondary face, which allegedly could smile, sneer, and whisper, stretches the boundaries of known medical science. There are no documented cases of a fully functional second face with the capabilities described in Mordrake’s story. Despite its detailed nature, the authenticity of Edward Mordrake’s story remains highly questionable. There are no verified medical records or historical documents to confirm his existence. Researchers argue that the tale is a product of the era’s fascination with medical oddities and the public’s appetite for sensational stories. The absence of concrete evidence, such as birth or death certificates, medical reports, or credible eyewitness accounts, casts significant doubt on the veracity of the legend. CNN Debate Moderator Worries Dems May Suffer From GOP 'Baseless' Attacks On DOJ

Inside Politics host and upcoming CNN presidential debate moderator Dana Bash worried on Wednesday that “baseless claims” against the Department of Justice by Republicans could hurt Democrats from President Joe Biden on down. Following a report from Congressional correspondent Lauren Fox where Fox argued that claims of DOJ weaponization against Donald Trump are false because of ongoing cases Sen. Robert Menendez and Rep. Henry Cuellar, Bash turned to Washington Post Live anchor Leigh Ann Caldwell and asked, “Leigh Ann, is it your sense that Democrats who are on the front line, which is when it comes to getting majority back, whether they believe that these attacks on DOJ, these claims, baseless claims that the DOJ is behind, for example, what happened in New York is potent enough to hurt not just President Biden, but down-ballot.”     CNN thinks Justice Samuel Alito’s wife flying Revolution-era flags outside their home means the Supreme Court is facing a legitimacy crisis, but the number three official in the Biden DOJ leaving to prosecute Trump is something that is not even worth discussing. Bash’s remarks also raise the prospect of her trying to have a Candy Crowley moment in a few weeks. As for Caldwell, she replied, “So, there's a little bit of a split opinion on how Democrats are going to handle these attacks from Republicans, these attacks from Donald Trump and Donald Trump's own conviction. Democratic leadership has the opinion that they should not focus on this stuff. They should defend themselves, of course, but not focus on this. Instead focus on what have Republicans done for you lately.” She further claimed, “Now, it depends on each district and there are some there's, you know, district by district, some members are going focus-- are going to highlight Trump's conviction, going to highlight Republican antics against the Department of Justice, but it plays into this larger scheme generally speaking, regardless of how aggressively each individual member's going to play on this, that it's a MAGA-- MAGA extreme party who doesn't have any answers economically to help people. And this is all that they're interested in.” With the first presidential debate roughly three weeks away, one of the moderators is worrying that one of the candidates might suffer from “baseless” attacks. The debate should be one-on-one not one-on-two or three. Here is a transcript for the June 5 show: CNN Inside Politics with Dana Bash 6/5/2024 12:21 PM ET DANA BASH: Leigh Ann, is it your sense that Democrats who are on the front line, which is when it comes to getting majority back, whether they believe that these attacks on DOJ, these claims, baseless claims that the DOJ is behind, for example, what happened in New York is potent enough to hurt not just President Biden, but down-ballot. LEIGH ANN CALDWELL: So, there's a little bit of a split opinion on how Democrats are going to handle these attacks from Republicans, these attacks from Donald Trump and Donald Trump's own conviction. Democratic leadership has the opinion that they should not focus on this stuff. They should defend themselves, of course, but not focus on this. DEI is a 'Marxist worldview' pushed by 'empty suits': Congressional candidate Marty O'Donnell says elites lack core values

Republican congressional candidate Marty O'Donnell said that diversity, equity, and inclusion programs are a product of Marxism and are not "deeply held beliefs" by the executives that push them. O'Donnell is a former member of the board of directors at Bungie, a video game studio, but is now running for Congress in Nevada’s 3rd Congressional District. He told Blaze News that during his time in the gaming industry, representation and inclusion were not points that were considered. "Were diversity, equity, inclusion, or representation of certain sexualities or races ever something that you thought about?" O'Donnell was asked. "No, it wasn't," he answered. "The current 'go woke, go broke,' we just keep seeing that over and over again. DEI is not DEI. It is not diversity, equity, and inclusion. It is code word for, essentially, a Marxist worldview of power structures," he continued. "There's so many catchwords that are being injected into the conversation: colonization, decolonization. It is so far from — especially in the entertainment business — what people are worried about. Are you going to tell a good story? Are you going to make a good game?" "That's what creators should be concerned about," he added. O'Donnell said the actual faces of DEI programs aren't what fans take issue with; it's the obvious method through which they are wedged into entertainment that doesn't make sense. "The fans don't necessarily reject the movies or games because diversity or equity or inclusion things are forced into their face," he explained. "Certainly they don't like being preached to, but basically these are not good products. At the end of the day it's not fun to play. It's not interesting. These characters don't sound real." 'I honestly think a lot of these people are empty suits; I don't think they have core values.' Your browser does not support the video tag. There is a lot of "fear" at the executive level, the Halo game composer continued, drawing on his experience in dealing with Bungie's former parent company, Microsoft. "Fear that you are going to essentially get on the wrong side of some special interest groups who can be very loud and very annoying, so let's placate those people." O'Donnell doesn't believe that progressive ideologies like DEI are sincere beliefs of those pushing them from the top down. He equated such an elite class to "empty suits." "I don't think, in my experience, that these are deeply held beliefs, especially in the big companies, the C-Suite and the executives, all they're doing is looking at the bottom line. I honestly think a lot of these people are empty suits; I don't think they have core values. They adopt the core values of the moment to make sure they're on the right side, so they don't get any sort of backlash." "True believers" are few and far between, O'Donnell said, adding that no one who has made it to the top of these companies has ever actually created anything. He claimed that despite having a degree or making their way through the production side, their experience has only been in "overseeing." The Republican added that he has rarely found people with "strong moral character" running big companies and that they tend to go with wherever the wind blows. "I don't trust their judgement," he plainly stated. Your browser does not support the video tag. It's going to take a while for elites and executives to catch on, O'Donnell concluded. He noted that it's hard for people in those positions to switch gears unless something has particularly affected their profit. "It's going to take them a little while to realize this is actually not helping their bottom lines." Read more about O'Donnell's political viewpoints here. Like Blaze News? CNN host tries to bait poll expert into bashing Trump on immigration — but the facts get in the way: 'No sign of a backlash'

After insisting for months that his hands were tied, President Joe Biden this week finally took executive action on the border crisis. Whether his action will make a difference remains to be seen. Critics say it will be business as usual at the border because the action doesn't make substantive changes to discourage migrants from illegally entering the U.S. But CNN data expert Harry Enten showed Tuesday why Biden chose this moment — five months away from Election Day — to finally do something. 'It is not just that immigration is more at the top of voters' minds than it was four years ago, it is that who they trust on the issue has changed tremendously.' First, Enten showed that voters believe immigration is the second most important issue of the election. That's an important fact to establish, he explained, because the same issue was ranked as the 15th-most important issue of the 2020 election. "We've gone from 15th to second," Enten said. "So to me, it is not a huge surprise that President Biden is doing what he is doing because the fact is: Immigration is at the top of the mind for the American voter." Second, Americans trust Donald Trump to handle immigration much, much more than they trust Biden, Enten explained. In fact, Enten pulled out data showing that, in the run-up to the 2020 election, voters actually trusted Biden to handle immigration more than they did Trump. But there has since been a whopping 30-point swing the other direction. "Back in June 2020, Biden was actually trusted more on the question of border security and immigration by a single point," Enten said. "Look at where we are in May of 2024. My goodness gracious. Look at this huge jump that Donald Trump has gotten. He is now ahead on this issue by 27 percentage points." "So it is not just that immigration is more at the top of voters' minds than it was four years ago, it is that who they trust on the issue has changed tremendously," he explained. 'My Goodness': CNN Data Guru Reacts To Massive Shift To Trump On Immigration Polling pic.twitter.com/OOo6MX2VPR — Daily Caller (@DailyCaller) June 4, 2024 At that point, CNN host Kate Bolduan tried to bait Enten into criticizing Trump by calling Trump's immigration rhetoric "most extreme and most harsh" and asking Enten to predict "backlash" against Trump. But Enten quickly ended that narrative. "I think a lot of Democrats are saying, 'Oh, look at Donald Trump, look at what we call anti-immigration rhetoric. There is going to be some backlash.' I am not quite sure that is exactly right," he responded. To prove his response, Enten cited survey data showing that voters born outside the U.S. prefer Trump to Biden for president. "This is a change from where we were in 2020 because those voters were born outside the United States preferred Joe Biden," he explained. "But in this case, no sign of a backlash." Like Blaze News? X claims partial victory after Australian eSafety commissioner drops lawsuit over video of violent attack on Christian bishop

The social media platform owned by tech titan Elon Musk and now known as X is celebrating a decision from the Australian eSafety commissioner to drop a lawsuit in connection with a violent attack on a Christian bishop earlier this year.'My prophet': A religiously motivated attack on a Christian bishopBack in April, Assyrian Orthodox Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel, 53, was livestreaming a service held at Christ the Good Shepherd Church in Wakeley, just outside Sydney, when a young man suddenly ran to the altar and stabbed Bishop Emmanuel and Fr. Isaac Royel, as Blaze News previously reported. The suspected assailant, a 16-year-old boy, appeared to be motivated by Islamic extremism, as Bishop Emmanuel has previously criticized the Islamic religion."If [Bishop Emmanuel] didn't get himself involved in my religion, if he hadn't spoken about my prophet, I wouldn't have come here. … If he just spoke about his own religion, I wouldn’t have come," the suspect said during the attack, according to the livestream video.Though the violent stabbing cost the bishop an eye, he has since forgiven his attacker and called him to Christian conversion: "This young man who did this act almost two weeks ago, I say to you, my dear, you are my son and you will always be my son. I will always pray for you. I will always wish you nothing but the best. I pray that my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, to enlighten your heart, enlighten your soul, your entire being — to realize there is only one God who art in heaven. ... That God is Jesus Christ of Nazareth."'Threaten free speech everywhere': X refuses to censor videoThanks to the wonders of social media, a video of the brutal attack quickly went viral around the globe — much to the chagrin of Australian eSafety Commissioner Julie Inman Grant, a woke American previously affiliated with Big Tech. Grant demanded that X remove the video "to protect Australians from" exposure to "this most extreme and gratuitous violent material."The platform partially complied at first, censoring it in Australia. But when Grant and other Australian officials called for it to be suppressed across the globe, X stood firm."While X respects the right of a country to enforce its laws within its jurisdiction, the eSafety Commissioner does not have the authority to dictate what content X's users can see globally. ... Global takedown orders go against the very principles of a free and open internet and threaten free speech everywhere," said a statement from X's Global Government Affairs team.Grant pressed on, filing a lawsuit in Australian federal court with a hearing scheduled for late June. However, the suit seemed doomed to fail after a judge denied Grant's request for an injunction against the video while the legal process continued.'Welcome ... news': Commissioner retreats, drops lawsuitOn Wednesday, Grant announced that she was dropping the federal lawsuit altogether, preferring instead to focus on a separate case involving X. "Our sole goal and focus in issuing our removal notice was to prevent this extremely violent footage from going viral, potentially inciting further violence and inflicting more harm on the Australian community. I stand by my investigators and the decisions eSafety made," she said in a lengthy statement.'He issued a dog whistle to 181 million users around the globe, which resulted in ... doxxing of my family members, including my three children.'She also insisted that censoring the video was the right call and praised the platforms that did so, including Meta, Reddit, and TikTok. She then expressed disappointment that X didn't follow suit. "So it was a reasonable expectation when we made our request to remove extremely graphic video of an attack, that X Corp would take action in line with these publicly stated policies and practices," the statement continued. She even hinted that the decision may have partially resulted from safety concerns, claiming in an interview that Elon Musk's recent comments about the issue have endangered her and her family."He issued a dog whistle to 181 million users around the globe, which resulted in death threats directed at me, which resulted in doxxing of my family members, including my three children," she said.Apparently unfazed by the personal allegations, Musk has since reaffirmed his commitment to keep his platform free. "Freedom of speech is worth fighting for," he tweeted in connection with the story.X's global leadership team likewise cheered Grant's decision to drop the lawsuit. "We welcome the news that the eSafety Commissioner is no longer pursuing legal action against X seeking the global removal of content that does not violate X’s rules," said X's Global Government Affairs division."This case has raised important questions on how legal powers can be used to threaten global censorship of speech, and we are heartened to see that freedom of speech has prevailed."X filed a lawsuit in Australia's Administrative Appeals Tribunal seeking clarity on whether Grant was in the right to classify the stabbing video as a "class 1" example of "extreme violence material." Grant claims a ruling on the matter from the AAT will provide her with "operational certainty."The AAT is expected to hear that case sometime next month.Like Blaze News?
