Comedian Bill Maher ripped Left-wing backlash to the “Appeal to Heaven” flag after The New York Times used it to attack Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito by claiming that he flew the flag and that it was linked to the January 6 riot. Alito responded in a lengthy statement to the pressure campaign, launched by Democrat senators, to get him to recuse himself from cases involving former President Donald Trump by noting that his wife flew the flag, not him, and that they are not linked to any kind of extreme groups. “I find out now, because you never get the full story from the first day or from only one source, this flag flies a lot of places,” Maher said. “They’re saying Alito flew it as … a dog whistle to the Stop The Steal people, to MAGA nation, that this is their flag now, it means that we don’t believe the election was fair, but it was flying over the City Hall in San Francisco for 60 years.” CLICK HERE TO GET THE DAILYWIRE+ APP Maher then noted that the city of San Francisco has since ordered the flag to be removed from outside city hall. “And now, because of this flap, Mayor London Breed there has ordered the flag to be removed,” he said. “I’ve seen the American flag, yes, the American flag trashed by people who think that is somehow owned by MAGA now. Nobody owns these flags, nobody owns patriotism. I think it’s a very bad thing for San Francisco to take this down and say, okay, that’s you now. No, it’s not. Why? George Washington flew this flag. They own George Washington now?”

Former Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) slammed the highly controversial verdict against former President Donald Trump this week by saying it was the only time that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has ever been excited to prosecute someone — a reference to his soft-on-crime policies. The verdict was the culmination of a weeks-long courtroom battle in which Trump said that he was the target of a “political persecution” — a point that was seemingly validated when President Joe Biden sent his re-campaign to hold a political event outside the courthouse this week. The former president was found guilty on all 34 charges brought in the hush-money trial. “The best revenge is success. If you want a justice system that doesn’t elect a District Attorney who promises to go after a political opponent, then you need to win at the ballot box,” Gowdy said. “Alvin Bragg, name me another crime that he’s gotten really, really excited about. It’s not shoplifting, it’s not stealing, it’s not hitting people on the street, it is alleged hush-money to keep someone quiet about a sexual encounter. None. Ever. Even putting aside the specifics of election law, the Manhattan DA itself almost never brings any case in which falsification of business records is the only charge.”

So, it was shocking to hear Alicia Menendez, on Saturday's edition of MSNBC's The Weekend, tee up Michael Cohen to say something that could endanger the life of a former president. At the end of multiple segments in which he appeared, Menendez put it to Cohen:v"When you say you want peace, you say you'll never get peace so long as Donald Trump is here?" Cohen agreed: "Yeah. I don't believe I ever will." Menendez was paraphrasing what Cohen said to Nicolle Wallace on Friday: I want peace. You can’t have peace when Donald Trump is around, because one of the things he talks about in many of his books, it’s a common theme, if you hit him, and that’s in his mind that he’s being hit, he needs to strike back at you 10 times harder. And, so long as the two of us exist on this planet at the same time, he will constantly seek to hurt me. So, Cohen can't have peace so long as Trump was "around" and "exist[s] on this planet?" That can only be understood as Cohen saying that he won't have peace so long as Trump is alive. If you’re looking for a slightly different fruit salsa for summer entertaining, you have to try this Spicy Watermelon Salsa. The contrast of sweet and spicy is so good, especially on a salty tortilla chip. I’m obsessed with watermelon. TOTALLY obsessed. Sometimes on a hot summer day, I cut up a whole watermelon and eat nothing for supper but a HUGE bowl of watermelon. It is so good and so hydrating. I’m also obsessed with fruit salsas during the summer. A sweet salsa on a salty, crispy tortilla chip = HEAVEN! The key to this Spicy Watermelon Salsa is chopping everything up very, very small so that it is easy to scoop and you get all the flavors in one bite. Other Ingredients To compliment the watermelon I add cucumber, red onion, and yellow bell pepper. Just a little of each though. I like this salsa to be mostly watermelon. A few jalapenos and some red pepper flakes get added for some heat. A little lime juice and a bit of honey get added for flavor, plus a whole lot of cilantro (if you like it.) How To Pick A Watermelon There are many tips for choosing a good watermelon. Choose a heavy one for it’s size. This indicates it is really juicy. Look for dull skin instead of shiny skin. It should have a large yellow spot on one side where it ripened on the ground. Give it a thump. It should make a hollow, deep sound. How To Serve Spicy Watermelon Salsa This salsa is great served with tortilla chips but I also really love it on shrimp or fish tacos. It also makes a great topping for grilled chicken or shrimp.
