Shortly before ABC’s The View went to air, word was finally announced that both the Biden and Trump campaigns agreed to two debates; one with CNN in June and one in September with ABC. But it was two demands made by Team Biden that had captured most everyone’s interest: no audiences and mics would be cut off. Of course, the liberal ladies of The View cheered the rules with one saying the quiet part out loud and admitting that an audience would hurt President Biden. After spending several minutes bragging about being at a Disney party the previous night, the cast finally got around to talking about the debate. And the first thing they did was share how relieved they were that Biden’s demands were agreed to: WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Here's what I really appreciate. Biden is saying, no audience. JOY BEHAR: Good. GOLDBERG: And that the mics must be cut once - SARA HAINES: I love this. GOLDBERG: -- the time to answer the question has expired. SUNNY HOSTIN: Yes. [Cheers and applause] No one questioned the suspicious timing of the announce since it came shortly after the Biden campaign put out a highly edited video of the President challenging Trump to exactly two debates. But faux-conservative Alyssa Farah Griffin proclaimed, “It was smart of Biden to get ahead of this by challenging Trump and I think it's a recognition that they're neck and neck in the polls.”     Of course, she was completely ignoring the fact that Trump had challenged Biden to debate weeks ago after becoming the presumptive Republican nominee. But who’s counting? Farah Griffin praised the “roadblocks” as “critical” and argued that “cutting off the mics is the most important or it can descend into absolute chaos.” Staunchly racist and anti-Semitic co-host Sunny Hostin (the descendant of slave owners) proclaimed that “Biden clearly has the edge” because he could cite the charges brought against Trump by Democratic D.A.s and his Justice Department: HOSTIN: Every answer starts with, “well, my opponent, who has been criminally convicted.” BEHAR: That's right. HOSTIN: Or, “Well, my opponent who’s facing--” BEHAR: Impeached. HOSTIN: “Who has been twice impeached.” “My opponent, who is facing three other criminal trials.” I mean, it's gold. It's very easy. It's good for us, you know, and D.T. will have to get his poop together. And I think the Biden team is recognizing maybe the trial isn't breaking through in the way that having Donald Trump in every American living room answering tough policy questions head-to-head with him will remind them who he is, what his second term will look like. A barge has caused a major disturbance to those in the Galveston, Texas, area after it struck a bridge connecting Galveston to Pelican Island, leaving those on the island stranded and temporarily without power.'Nearly seven miles of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway had to be shut down because of an oil spill from the barge.'Just before 10 a.m. on Wednesday, a tugboat pushing two barges lost control, causing one barge — owned by Martin Petroleum — to strike the unused railroad track that runs along the Pelican Island Causeway as well as two telephone poles. "The current was very bad, and the tide was high. He lost it," said David Flores, a bridge superintendent with the Galveston County Navigation District.The causeway is the only means for motor vehicles to access Pelican Island, the home of Texas A&M University at Galveston. — (@) The collision caused a portion of the rail track to collapse onto the barge. Two individuals on the barge either fell or jumped into the water as a result of the accident, but they were quickly rescued. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.The accident also caused a number of inconveniences for those on land. For one thing, the bridge had to be closed for hours, leaving Pelican Island residents stranded. Officials have considered evacuating the island by boat, though whether any residents have yet been removed from it is unclear. Pelican Island also lost power for some time after the crash, though a secondary source soon restored power by 1 p.m. TAMU at Galveston likely has few people on campus, as graduation was held earlier this month, but the university did offer Captain’s Landing as a location where those still on campus can access food.Finally, six and a half miles of the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway had to be shut down because of an oil spill from the barge. The barge has an oil capacity of 30,000 gallons and was leaking what has been described as "vacuum gas oil." The extent of the oil spill has not yet been determined, but officials with the U.S. Coast Guard are assessing the situation and are expected give an update and a report about containment measures soon.Folks in Galveston can still drive along Harborside Drive, though police are in the area to divert traffic from the bridge. In North Carolina, 16-year-old Christian McGhee found himself suspended and allegedly branded a racist for using the term “illegal alien” in class. Christian had reportedly asked his teacher if a conversation in class was centered around “spaceship aliens” or “illegal aliens who need green cards.” “Was he quoting president Bill Clinton who used that same phrase in a State of the Union speech?” Keith Malinak asks. The boy's mother is thankfully not having it and has come to his defense. “On April 9, my son received a write-up stating that he violated a board of education policy by using or making a racially motivated comment saying that an alien needs a green card,” the mother said to the school board. “There is nothing inappropriate about saying aliens need green cards, and there certainly isn’t a case for racism due to the fact that alien is not a race,” she said, continuing, “this board’s policies do not prevent students from using the word alien, illegal alien, green card, nor does it state that these words are racially insensitive or abusive.”The mother also revealed that while none of the board members have responded to her emails regarding what’s been done to her child, two of the board members have sent messages to county leaders and residents with her personal arrest record from 14 years ago. They also encouraged them to post the record on social media. “These posts were sent around my child’s school. Two members of this board too busy to hear a mother’s cry, yet not too busy to assault her character in one more attempt to hurt her child,” she said. Her arrest was for possession of pain medication, which she was sentenced to six years time served. Since her arrest, she’s “spoken publicly over 30 times in many states regarding addiction.” “Your weak attempt to assault my character has failed, but your malicious character has been highlighted,” she added. “That’s great, wow,” Pat Gray says, impressed. "Congressional Research Service says that 75 to 80% of unaccompanied children are now traveling with smugglers, and those smugglers have reportedly sold migrants into situations of forced labor or prostitution — forms of human trafficking — in order to recover their costs," Banks continued. "The Coalition Against Trafficking and Women says that 60% of unaccompanied children caught by cartels and exploited are exploited through child pornography and drug trafficking."Banks asked Becerra whether it was the Biden administration's policy to return unaccompanied minors to their families in their home country or to send them into the United States to so-called sponsors.Becerra claimed that the administration is following the laws currently in place regarding asylum claims."Let me ask this a different way. If a 15-year-old girl came across the border from, say, Guatemala, would we send her back to her family in Guatemala, or would we keep her in the United States?" Banks questioned.Becerra replied, "If she requested an asylum hearing, we would, by law, be required to offer her a hearing."Banks further pressed the HHS secretary about how many unaccompanied minors the Biden administration has returned to their families."That would not be something I have information on," Becerra responded. In 2019, the three organizations received $597 million compared to $2 billion in 2022. The CEOs at each of the NGOs make over $500,000 per year.NGOs received generous federal grants to provide services to unaccompanied minors such as pet therapy, music therapy, and "people-plant interaction" or "horticulture therapy."Banks questioned Becerra about the administration using massive amounts of taxpayer funds to support the NGOs."I think the reason that you're doing this, Mr. Secretary, and your boss, Joe Biden, is because Democrats are getting rich off of it," Banks declared."The Global Refuge CEO and NGO that you funnel a lot of money to, her salary is $520,000, and it doubled over three years. The former CEO of an NGO called Southwest Key Programs made three and a half million dollars," Banks continued. "The new CEO makes a million. The CEO of Endeavors, who was an Obama administration aide, made $600,000 in 2022. A former Biden transition official who helped you vet political appointees helped Endeavor secure a $520 billion, no-bid contract.
