Some of these updates will be included with Android 15 when it arrives this fall, but theft detection and a number of other features will be available to phones with much older OS versions, too — bringing them to many more people. Quilt is a new “home climate system” — a ductless HVAC system that uses heat pump-powered mini-split units to heat and cool your home. Two things make Quilt stand out from the start: it’s smart and pretty. The system has built-in millimeter-wave radar sensors for precision occupancy detection, so you can choose to heat and cool only occupied rooms. Running a marathon, for example, will purportedly consume 20 percent less battery than on Wear OS 4. This emphasis on battery life is similar to last year’s Wear OS 4 announcement — and for good reason. Wear OS 4 helped the Pixel Watch 2 last an entire day, something the original struggled to do. That improved battery life has seemingly bought some goodwill. Google says that, in the last year, the Wear OS user base grew by an impressive 40 percent across 160 countries and regions. Google delivered its big I/O 2024 keynote on Tuesday, with everyone focusing on Gemini AI. However, a shocking surprise was the lack of Android 15 demos during the show. The company did reveal three big AI features coming to Android 15: Circle to Search improvements to handle things like school homework, Gemini assistant's context-aware functionality, and upgrades to the on-device capabilities of Gemini Nano. In 1916, a road up the hill to Fausland farm on the island of Hitra was being upgraded, using gravel from the shore along the innermost part of Barmfjorden. Suddenly, the workers noticed some human bones in between all the sand and stones. The bones belonged to a man who was approximately 25 years of age and who had died at the very end of the Stone Age – 4000 years ago. “We think that he drowned. When he died, the sea level was 12.5 meters (41 feet) higher than it is today, and the discovery site would have been at a depth of 4 meters (13 feet). Parts of the skeleton are well preserved, and must have been covered with shell sand on the seabed shortly after he died,” says archaeologist Birgitte Skar from NTNU University Museum. A Warrior? Along with the bone remains, a dagger and an arm guard were found. The arm guard is an oblong piece of bone with two holes in it that would have been attached to the wrist of the hand holding a bow.
