Barbarella Remake May Have Edgar Wright as Director

News Barbarella Barbarella Remake May Have Edgar Wright as Director Sydney Sweeney will be starring in the remake By Vanessa Armstrong | Published on May 13, 2024 Credit: Paramount Pictures Comment 0 Share New Share Credit: Paramount Pictures The Sydney Sweeney-starring remake of the 1968 classic Barbarella is getting more talent attached to it. Today, Deadline broke the news that Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Baby Driver, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) is in talks with Sony to direct the remake, with writers Jane Goldman and Honey Ross (The Kingsmen: Secret Service, the recent X-men movies) also in discussions to pen the script. While this remake won’t go into production in the near future—Wright has to complete his work on The Running Man starring Glen Powell first—the negotiations suggest that the upcoming Barbarella film is one that Sony hopes will be a blockbuster. We don’t know much about this reboot, which makes sense since it sounds like it doesn’t even have a script yet. The original sci-fi film, of course, starred Jane Fonda in the titular role and was based on a French comic book series with the same name. In it, Fonda plays a human space traveler sent to stop the evil Durand Durand. There are sexual escapades along the way, including an “evil” device from Durand called the Exsexsive Machine that kills people with pleasure. It will be interesting to see a contemporary rendition of the source material. No news yet on additional casting or when the movie will go into production, though it sounds like it will be at least several months until it gets to that point. How to get kicked out of a store in Little Kitty, Big City

To earn the “And Stay Out!” Achievement in Little Kitty, Big City, you need to figure out how to get kicked out of a store. This may sound easy at first, but most stores you walk into don’t care much for your presence. Little Kitty Big City: How to get kicked out of a store Any store you stroll through in Little Kitty, Big City won’t pay you much mind, so how can you anger them enough to have them kick you out? You can earn the Achievement “And Stay Out!” and get kicked out of a store in Little Kitty, Big City just by walking into the construction yard. For some reason, the construction yard counts as a store, since all I had to do to earn this Achievement was get caught by one of the construction workers. Right near where you first meet the Tanuki, one of the many animals you meet, is a construction site that’s mostly fenced-in. If you manage to make your way inside you’ll see a patrolling construction worker. Screenshot: P...

SOCIETAL ROT, Part 1: Businesses Destroyed by Rampant Crime

This is the first of a five-part series. The iconic Macy’s department store on Union Square in the heart of San Francisco is closing because of rampant theft and the societal rot that have infected the city.   The massive 400,000-square-foot flagship building, which anchors an entire side of Union Square, has been in business for more than 70 years at this spot, and Macy’s has been in San Francisco for more than 100 years.  Employees at the store told The Daily Mail that thieves take “at least four blazers, 10 wallets, and 20 packs of underwear every day.”  Another employee said that thieves routinely steal “men’s Ralph Lauren Polo, women’s North Face, and Levi’s clothing.”  With dozens of store closures in and around Union Square, and the dangerous conditions caused by open-air drug use and mentally ill people living on the streets, fewer and fewer people come downtown to shop.  See The Daily Mail’s map of store closures. The closures are caused in large part because of lax enforcement of petty-theft laws by rogue prosecutors George Gascon and Chesa Boudin, who served as district attorneys in San Francisco from 2011 to 2022. Read more about their rogue pro-criminal, anti-victim policies here, here, and here. Russian Troops Make Major Gains After Congress, Biden Greenlight Aid Package to Ukraine

Ukraine’s armed forces suffered considerable territorial losses over the weekend despite receiving a large military aid package from the U.S. in April, The New York Times reported. From Friday to Sunday, Russian forces captured more square miles per day than they have at nearly any point of the Russia-Ukraine war other than its earliest days, taking nine villages in Ukraine’s north while defending fighters fell back, according to the Times. The Russian advances came just weeks after Congress approved a $61 billion infusion of military aid for the Ukrainian forces April 21, proponents of which argued that the aid was essential for Ukraine to withstand the invasion. “The first line of fortifications and mines just didn’t exist,” Denys Yaroslavsky, a Ukrainian reconnaissance commander, wrote in a post on Facebook. “The enemy freely entered the gray area, across the border line, which in principle should not have been gray!” Biden signs the $95 billion aid package for Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. pic.twitter.com/jKVslCj4kI— Daily Caller (@DailyCaller) April 24, 2024 The $61 billion aid package passed in April contained funding for weapons, arms purchases, training, and more, according to the Center for Strategic International Studies. That round of funding supplemented four earlier aid packages, bringing the topline number of U.S. aid sent to Ukraine since the war’s outbreak to $175 billion, according to the Council on Foreign Relations. Although it is unclear if Russia’s advances are a minor, isolated development or the start of a sustained period of greater success, the exhaustion of many Ukrainian soldiers on the front, limited amounts of ammunition, and dwindling manpower could combine to cause serious problems for the Ukrainian army, according to the Times. Thousands of civilians have fled their homes to take shelter in Kharkiv, the largest city in the region where the Russians had success over the weekend. “We are focused on supporting Ukraine’s defense in the Kharkiv region, where Ukrainian forces are fighting hard,” a Defense Department spokesperson told the Daily Caller News Foundation. “On Friday, we warned that we had been anticipating that Russia would launch an offensive against Kharkiv and were anticipating that Russia would increase its attacks in an attempt to establish a shallow buffer zone along the Ukrainian border—and we have been coordinating closely with Ukraine to help them prepare.” “We are also working on another aid package to get urgently needed aid to Ukraine—and the Department of Defense has been moving heaven and earth to deliver all of these supplies to Ukraine as rapidly as possible,” the Pentagon spokesperson said. “As we have said previously, Congress’ months-long delay in passing the supplemental put the Russians at an advantage, and it will take Ukraine time to regain the initiative.” Russian forces are beginning to reach or attack towns and villages outside of Kharkiv, according to the Times. It is possible that the Russians are pressing on in the region to divert Ukrainian troops, attention, and resources away from other areas in hopes of creating conditions for a wider breakthrough. “The Russians have understood, just as a lot of analysts have, that the major disadvantage that Ukraine is currently suffering from is manpower,” Franz-Stefan Gady, a military analyst based in Austria, told the Times. “By thinning out the front line, you are increasing the odds of a breakthrough.” To date, the Russia-Ukraine war has claimed hundreds of thousands of lives, but the front lines of the conflict have not moved much in recent months, the Times reported. Manpower is becoming a problem for Ukraine, which has a much smaller population than Russia and is starting to mobilize convicts to join the fight despite criticizing Russia for doing the same earlier in the conflict. The State Department did not respond immediately to requests for comment. Sitting Oklahoma judge indicted in connection with 2 drive-by shootings, 1 of which occurred at in-law's ranch

A sitting judge in Oklahoma has now been indicted in connection with two separate drive-by shootings in 2023, one of which occurred at a ranch owned by his brother-in-law.Just before 3:30 p.m. on February 12, 2023, a car pulled up to a ranch in Bison, Oklahoma, about 75 miles north of Oklahoma City, and opened fire. The ranch's owner, Kenneth Markes, claimed bullets penetrated his home, causing damage to a window, a wall, and an oven. A bullet and five empty .40-caliber shell casings were later recovered from the scene. Though Markes' son was apparently home at the time, thankfully, no one was injured. "Seeing a person in a window, and missing by a matter of inches, is not just a random shooting."Two days after the shooting, Markes' brother-in-law, Brian Lovell — a 59-year-old associate judge in Garfield County, Oklahoma — reported that a firearm had been stolen out of his vehicle.Seven months later, on the afternoon of September 11, a man was driving around in a white SUV near the intersection of Matamoros and Santa Maria in Austin, Texas, when he suddenly began pointing a weapon and firing at other vehicles. One witness described the suspect as "a white male, wearing a baseball-style hat and grey shirt."The man allegedly fired at least five shots, and police found "several vehicles with projectile defect in them," according to the affidavit. Three .40-caliber shell casings were later recovered from the scene. About an hour later, Judge Brian Lovell was arrested less than two miles from the intersection where the shooting occurred after his white SUV with Oklahoma plates allegedly rear-ended another vehicle twice. "This SUV was driven by a white male, wearing a baseball-style hat and a grey shirt who was identified as Brian Noel Lovell ... by his Oklahoma Driver’s License," the affidavit said. Police also spotted "a black firearm in the front passenger floor board of Lovell’s SUV."Lovell reportedly admitted to rear-ending the woman's vehicle twice but denied doing so intentionally. When police asked him about the shooting earlier that afternoon, his mind seemed to have gone blank. "Lovell advised he did not know why he would have shot his gun and he could not recall any part of the shooting incident," the affidavit said.No one was injured either in the Austin shooting or in the minor vehicle crash. In November, two months after the shooting in Austin and nine months after the shooting at Markes' ranch, ballistics tests revealed that the same gun, a Glock 23 .40-caliber, had been used in both incidents. In February 2024, Lovell was arrested and charged with eight felony counts of deadly conduct — discharge of a firearm in connection with the Austin shooting. He was issued a $10,000 bond and released once it was paid appropriately. He has a hearing scheduled for this case in June.On Friday, Lovell was arraigned on one felony count of use of a vehicle to facilitate the discharge of a firearm and an alternative felony count of discharging a firearm into a dwelling in connection with the shooting at Markes' home. Lovell did not submit a plea, so a not-guilty plea was submitted by the court on his behalf. He was assessed a bond of $25,000 and released on the condition that he steers clear of Markes and his family as well as all firearms.Lovell's Oklahoma attorney, Stephen Jones, believes Lovell has been wrongfully accused. "It was a long time before the indictment was returned and that bears on him and his family. But he’s a strong character," Jones said. "And in my view, he’s innocent."Jones also insisted that Lovell's defense intends to "attack the jurisdiction and soundness of the indictment." "From our own investigation, the evidence is insufficient to convince a jury beyond a reasonable doubt," Jones claimed.Markes seemed less certain of his brother-in-law's innocence. "I had no idea that it could’ve been Brian Lovell," Markes said. "Seeing a person in a window, and missing by a matter of inches, is not just a random shooting."Lovell has a court hearing in connection with the shooting at Markes' ranch in late August. Garfield County District Judge Paul Woodward previously claimed that Lovell had agreed not to hear cases until his case had been fully adjudicated.Like Blaze News? 'It's over for him' RFK Jr. is pro-full-term abortion, had a BRAIN WORM

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. revealed a bizarre medical diagnosis this past week — in 2010, a parasitic brain worm had gotten into Kennedy’s brain, ate some of it, and then died. While the story is terrifying, it might explain his views on abortion. “I wouldn’t leave it up to the states,” RFK said on a recent podcast. “We should leave it to the woman, we shouldn’t have government involved even if it’s full-term.” Sara Gonzales is disgusted. “There’s just one small problem, it’s not her body. It’s the baby's, who is, of course, a living, breathing human,” Gonzales says, noting that if the baby is full-term, it could at that point survive on its own. “You just deliver the baby and you deliver it alive instead of dead, that’s how this process works,” she continues, adding, “he is clearly advocating for murder of babies. I don’t see any other way to describe that.” Matthew Marsden believes this might be the end of his campaign. “I don’t know what to say about this,” Marsden says, adding, “It’s over for him. I mean, that’s just a horrendous position to take.” Want more from Sara Gonzales? To enjoy more of Sara's no-holds-barred take to news and culture, subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America, defend the Constitution, and live the American dream.

UW and police protect college's encampment from pro-Israel march

SEATTLE, Wash. — Tensions were high at the University of Washington on Sunday as a pro-Israel and pro-America rally took place close to the anti-Israel encampment near Red Square, which has been a source of friction for some time.Pastor Russell Johnson, who helped organized the rally, explained the reasoning for the gathering despite concerns that there could be violence."Our primary goal is to send an opposite message to both local and national media, letting them know that there are still common-sense people in the Pacific Northwest who are willing to stand up for the rights of Jewish people to exist without fear of violence or retribution," Johnson told me prior to the rally.Johnson said his group was not looking to be violent."I don't think it will be. We are rallying to pray, to stand together, to sing the national anthem, to wave flags, and to let the Seattle market know that there are still people left here who stand in support and in defense of Israel and the Jewish people. We don't tolerate any sort of violence or instigation on our side. I hope there is equal restraint" on the other side, he explained.Johnson added that it was the group's desire to walk through the occupied quad peacefully because it is public space funded by taxpayers. But it was not to be.Before the start of the rally, far-left groups put out a call on social media for people to come and "defend" the encampment from the Christian and Jewish crowd. Barricades provided by UW were commandeered by the anti-Israel occupiers. Campus police and Washington State troopers guarded the entrance to the camp that was closest to Red Square.'The University ... allowed Antifa to set up this quasi, secondary police force to guard all the entrances ...'At the other entrances, occupiers, which included Antifa, manned the barricades to prevent anyone else deemed not on their side from entering. The occupiers were ready for a fight as they carried poles and improvised shields made from plastic garbage cans, while wearing gloves with hard knuckles and helmets. Julio Rosas/Blaze MediaWhen Johnson's rally was finished, the crowd did march to the main entrance to the camp but were unable to enter because of the police preventing them from walking inside. The occupiers pushed past the first set of barricades to get closer to the march, but they did not go past the second set of barricades. After shouting and standing outside the encampment, the pro-Israel march walked to Johnson's off-campus church. — (@) There were no major acts of violence from either side, but the school's action makes it clear the encampment is not going away any time soon. Finals week at UW is not until early June.Johnson said the encampment brings back memories from the disastrous "Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone.""The University ... allowed Antifa to set up this quasi, secondary police force to guard all the entrances. It's the same mistakes that they made during the CHAZ/CHOP encampment that apparently they have not learned from. ... The UW president has basically been silent outside a weak-kneed press release," he said.

How to survive the end of the world in 6 easy steps

While prepping for minor emergencies is stressful enough, a disaster is outright overwhelming. That’s why Glenn Beck has made it a lot less complicated and laid out the “6 basic steps to prepping.” “Most people quit before they even begin, but it’s actually really easy and inexpensive,” Glenn explains, adding, “Start with what the government is now ignoring, the basics.” The first step is building a solid personal finance and health foundation. “The best way to insulate yourself in an economic crisis is to get as debt-free as you can. We also need to get into the financial position where we can dedicate a few extra dollars every month to advance our prep plan,” Glenn says. “We also need to make sure that bad health won’t get in the way of surviving when it’s needed,” he adds, noting that being able to walk a considerable distance and carry what you need is paramount. The second step is getting your home ready for two weeks of self-reliance. This means you’ll need 15 gallons of water per person, 23,000 calories per person, and sources of light. You’ll also need a gun, ammo, indoor heating, a USB powered fan, and medical supplies. Another incredible tool is a ham radio, which Glenn plans to learn and get licensed on. The third step is having a bug-out bag, which includes everything from 32 ounces of water, a tarp, a field knife, and very important: cash. The fourth step is preparing for emergencies away from home. “Exercise your Second Amendment right to protect yourself,” Glenn says. The fifth step is practicing the skills it would require to protect yourself, like shooting a gun. Last but definitely not least comes number six, which is sharing and building a base with others. “Share what you’ve learned, build a base of like-minded friends and family,” Glenn says. Want more from Glenn Beck?To enjoy more of Glenn’s masterful storytelling, thought-provoking analysis, and uncanny ability to make sense of the chaos, subscribe to BlazeTV — the largest multi-platform network of voices who love America, defend the Constitution, and live the American dream.
