Even as President Joe Biden was delivering his perfunctory Holocaust Remembrance speech earlier this week, decrying the “ferocious surge” in antisemitism on college campuses and prattling on about how he would never forget the Oct. 7 attack—which saw well over 1,200 Israelis murdered, raped, and/or kidnapped—the president was planning to stop the Jewish state from destroying modern-day Nazis. On Wednesday, Biden told CNN’s Erin Burnett that if Israel invades the city of Rafah in Gaza— where remaining battalions of Hamas terrorists are holed up behind civilians—the U.S. would stop supplying Israel with offensive and precision weapons. This is a historic moment, as it is surely the first time a president has sold out a stalwart U.S. ally to save a terrorist organization. Not just any terror organization, but one that murdered, sexually tortured, and/or kidnapped American citizens, and still holds some hostage. Biden has sacrificed them to the mobs of Columbia University and Dearborn, Michigan, and The Washington Post editorial board. Biden could have given Israel this ultimatum privately. But he went on TV to do it precisely because it is meant for the ears of Israel haters. You may recall, only a couple of weeks ago Democrats insisted on attaching Israeli aid to Ukrainian aid as a means of garnering the votes to pass a foreign assistance bill. Biden is now pausing the congressionally approved delivery of weapons to one ally to bolster his domestic election prospects by appealing to campus radicals and antisemitic enclaves. In 2019, then-President Donald Trump was impeached for “abuse of power” and “obstruction of Congress” for merely threatening Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on a phone call with the same behavior. This is far worse. Not only is Israel a longtime ally, it is also, in every way imaginable, a better “democracy” than Ukraine. It should not be lost on anyone that Biden is only incentivizing more demonstrations and violence from the communists, Islamists, and well-funded Hamas cosplayers. The next time a Jewish kid is accosted on campus, Biden can take some credit. Then again, the president’s donors are also the patrons of these America-hating revolutionaries. And they have, by any measure, succeeded. Biden is also willing to sacrifice the remaining American hostages to placate the mob. If Israel submits to the president’s demands, it will have been stripped of any leverage in hostage negotiations. Why would a terror organization hand back any Jews, knowing that the Israelis are being leashed by the United States? All they had to do was wait it out. It is almost surely the case that Biden’s feckless, unprincipled nature allowed him to be cowed by the pro-Iranian Obamites who now infest the American government and institutions. We learned Monday that Rob Malley, a man who brought Iranian assets into the United States government, was suspended for allegedly sending classified documents to his personal email account and downloading them to his personal phone. Weird, right? Yet, not even former President Barack Obama, who had been chummy with black supremacists and other antisemites for decades before reaching the White House, cut off aid to Israel. Democrats continue to lurch toward the hard left. And where are the Jewish Democrats decrying this development? Probably blaming their straw man, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whom they frame as some kind of warmongering fascist. In reality, the unity government war council of Israel includes the opposition leader. Netanyahu has less power to act unilaterally than the American president. There is no responsible government in Israel, much less the world, that would permit Hamas to skate. Well, perhaps the one run by the person who opposed the bin Laden operation. In the end, Biden has also prolonged the suffering of Palestinians. Hamas knew there would be retribution after Oct 7. They knew thousands of Arab civilians would die, because they seek as many martyrs and as much suffering as possible. Biden only extended that reality by allowing Islamists to hold power. Rather than planning for a post-Hamas Gaza and Israel-Saudi normalization, Biden is choosing to save Iranian proxies in the region. Democrats like to argue that Israel shouldn’t be given a “blank check,” which implies that the Jewish state is indiscriminately killing people without any legitimate plan or goal. There is no blank check. Israel’s mission is well defined. Biden is micromanaging the military operations of an ally and limiting categories of weapons to stop Israel from eliminating Hamas—designated a foreign terrorist organization by the U.S. State Department. More than 5,000 Mercedes-Benz workers in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, will vote on May 13 through 17 on whether to join the United Auto Workers, and German activist unions are pressuring them to get on board. The Alabama and South Carolina plants are the only Mercedes plants in the world not to be unionized, and IG Metall, the powerful German labor union, is trying to change that—even if it means not playing fair. “We encourage our colleagues in Tuscaloosa to make history by exercising their right to vote and voting to form a union,” said Ergun Lümali, union representative at IG Metall and chairman of the Mercedes-Benz Works Council, a worker group that coordinates with the union. “We are closely monitoring the UAW’s activities and company conduct in Tuscaloosa.” Lümali said that after successfully voting for the UAW, Tuscaloosa would become a “full member of the World Workers’ Council.” IG Metall sees its job as recruiting American workers to socialist workers’ councils. When the powerful German union found that Mercedes had hired communications advisers to craft messages to counter the UAW, as Mercedes is entitled to do under U.S. law, IG Metall complained to Mercedes, and Mercedes fired the individuals. “Europeans are trying to infringe upon American employees’ freedom of choice on whether to unionize,” one of them told me. “By removing the right of free speech, the employee is denied important information to evaluate in making a very personal critical decision that impacts the employee and their family. This is not the equitable process that we hold dear in America.” Generally, when a union files a petition to unionize the workforce, the company holds meetings to inform workers of the disadvantages of union representation, such as the payment of dues and promotion on the basis of seniority, rather than merit. But due to German union pressure, Mercedes is only allowing pro-union material and UAW representatives to walk the halls speaking to employees, according to news reports. That’s most unusual. Just as employers are supposed to allow union advocates a chance to make their case to workers, so they are supposed to allow union opponents. Mercedes workers in Alabama have many reasons to reject the union, free of foreign interference. Employment at the Big Three automakers represented by the UAW has declined, and auto jobs have moved to China with vehicle electrification. UAW membership fell from 1.5 million in 1979 to 370,000 in 2023. Hence, the UAW needs new members to pay dues to fund union bosses’ salaries and pensions for retired union members in Detroit. Dues for UAW hourly workers are 2.5 hours of pay per month. With average wages of $36 an hour, that’s $90 a month in dues, or over $1,000 a year. That would help shore up the pensions of the UAW’s 580,000 retirees and pay the salaries of the union officials. UAW President Shawn Fain earns more than $220,000 per year, more than six times Mercedes workers’ average wages of $36,000. Fain flies to lavish events such as the UAW National Stellantis Council Meeting in March in Puerto Rico with other union officials. Mercedes-Benz workers in Alabama shouldn’t have to pay for union bosses’ perks or legacy pensions in Detroit, and unionizing the plant goes directly contrary to workers’ interests. Unionization would raise the cost of vehicles, undercutting Mercedes’ competitiveness relative to the auto companies that were not represented by unions. For instance, Jim Farley, Ford’s CEO, said earlier this year that Ford had a $7 billion to $8 billion cost disadvantage over other carmakers due to higher costs. Higher costs from unionization are one reason that Ford, Stellantis, and GM are announcing layoffs. The UAW has not succeeded in reversing commitments from the Big Three automakers to go all electric by 2035—which results in job losses for its members and job gains for Chinese workers who make the batteries and other EV components. Just as foreign countries shouldn’t interfere in U.S. presidential elections, foreign actors shouldn’t interfere in American union elections. Foreign unions don’t have American workers’ best interests at heart. If Mercedes wants to operate in America, it should follow American law and not cave to IG Metall. Here’s the 7,325,793,257th reason I plan to homeschool my children. Rebecca Joynes, a math teacher in Manchester, UK, just had a baby with a teenager she slept with. She did so while out on bail for sex with a different one of her students. I guess raping one kid just wasn’t enough for Miss Joynes. Manchester Evening News reported that Joynes gave the first boy ten digits of her phone number and had him try to guess the 11th. Joynes then coerced the boy with a shopping trip, which CCTV footage confirmed, where she bought him a Gucci belt after picking him up at his house. That evening Joynes allegedly brought the student back to her apartment to rape him two times when he spent the night at her house.  As the New York Post indicated, Joynes was “laughing” while having unprotected sex with the student after he “told her he was too young to even drive.”  “She said, ‘Oh shut up’ … ‘Stop saying that,’” the 15-year-old student said. Joynes admits to going to the shop with the boy, and that he visited her house, but denies any sexual activity. While Joynes appeared in court for that case, she was allegedly sleeping with another minor! Joynes was suspended from work over the first instance and apparently thought that her time off from teaching made it somehow okay to have sexual relations with a different young boy.  Supposedly, she and this minor chatted via Snapchat, kissed once and then, as prosecutors mentioned, their relationship became sexual in nature.  As the Manchester Evening News noted, Joynes allegedly told the child it was “almost impossible” for her to conceive since she had polycystic ovarian syndrome. Yet, a baby girl was conceived. Apparently, Joynes gave the baby’s father an item that had “I love you daddy” written on it. On the same night, reports seem to indicate Joynes also “put rose petals down” and had a “scratchcard” from Victoria’s Secret with different sex positions on it for the two to try.  Joynes tried to justify her actions by claiming that she wasn’t a teacher at the time of the rape of this second boy and that he was 16, which is the age of legal consent in UK. However, when it involves a child and a figure of authority, that age is raised to 18. “Ms Joynes, of Pensby Road, Wirral, denies four counts of sexual activity with a child, and two counts of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust,” Manchester Evening News indicated. While this story takes place over in Europe, the U.S. is no stranger to this kind of behavior. A 24-year-old Wisconsin elementary teacher was recently arrested for allegedly “making out” with one of her fifth-grade students. In California, a teacher just pled no contest after being accused of raping a 14-year-old student on his eighth grade graduation. A Minnesota teacher had sex with one of her 18-year-old students and pleaded guilty in February. Earlier that month a different teacher pleaded guilty to sneaking into a 14-year-old student’s home and bed to rape him. A teacher in Iowa pleaded guilty to sex acts with numerous minors like sending nude images to them and “fondling or touching” at least one of them. Mrs. Phillips from Kentucky admitted to having sex with “numerous teenage boys” during her time as a teachers assistant and a Louisiana teacher was arrested in January after allegedly “sexting” a 15-year-old student from her school. Yup, and the worst part is, that’s all only from the first few months of 2024. All that to say, this type of behavior, where someone who’s supposed to be a trusted adult, coerces, grooms and abuses children, has got to come to an end.
