The Partridge Family was a promising series featuring Shirley Jones as a TV mom and band leader; Shirley, Susan Dey, and David Cassidy became teen music stars thanks to their appearance in the short-lived film. By 1974, the musical sitcom was canceled for reasons Shirley recently revealed. The Partridge Family, which lasted for four seasons, received two Golden Globe nominations for Best TV Show—Musical Comedy and a Grammy nod for Best New Artist. While filming the show, the TV family released nine albums with 89 songs in total. Why was ‘The Partridge Family’ canceled? This posed a problem for the fast-rising series as viewers seemed to gravitate towards Norman Lear’s creation. Shirley also admitted that The Partridge Family was rather outdated, unlike their competition, which addressed controversial social issues such as racism, gender inequality, and the like. ABC soon conceded as they were unable to compete against the attention the series got on Saturday nights. He once admitted to being physically, mentally, and emotionally worn out, adding that he wants more serious work.
